One thing I'm sick of seeing (Please read)

I'm getting really tired of seeing EVERYONE associate "Modern music" with pop-punk and nu-metal only , I mean... do people realize music in EVERY GENRE you could possibly fathom is being made these days?

Alot of people rag on new music because they think it only consists of pop punk and nu metal , well I'm telling you : thats a load of garbage

Any genre there is ... trust me... music in that genre is being made new in this year and in the past decade

People , clearly you have computers... can you not use them to find modern music that ISN'T this helping this stereo type of todays music sucking? because it doesn't you just have to dig deep.

These days all the good stuff is like hay in a needlestack.. you gotta look hard yourself because quite frankly , the other 6,944 genres of musics bands have no publicity.

Stop associating the 00's music with nu-metal and pop-punk only , its ignorant.

Very true , alot of people act like the radio and the TV is the only source of music in the universe or something.

Thus leading to an overload of kids obsessed with classic rock with a mindset that says all modern music blows.

I actually rather newer music... you may say it is because im young (17) but that shouldnt matter the game should be able to appeal to people of all ages.. newer rock like three days grace, staind, etc. would persuade me to buy the game more... i get tired of the older stuff (metallica, pantera, hendrix.. which i all like) but playing it over and over after youve heard it a bunch of times would get tiring! so more modern rock that people have never heard before or have barely heard just a few times would be nice to have.

I think it just shows you how controlling the media is. Unless you see it on TV or hear it on the radio.. it just plain doesn't exist.

Also , I don't know who up and decided that my chemical romance and slipknot should take over the music world and play them and similar bands only on the radio and TV , but they need a swift kick to the nads..........

Satellite radio is still a redemption of music to the masses

My brother was listening to XM radio through AIM and sonata arctica came on... I was shocked and happy to hear them actually playing from some source that wasn't my personal playing of them

Yeah dude I had 75BLM 75DRK 70BLU 60WAR , the reason I quit was because my blu simply was not getting party invites anymore... entire days passed with no invites... and I didnt wanna play any other jobs

So I quit because of that and sold the account and bought an xbox360 with teh sweet $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ lol

BLM was my only easy to level one the rest were pretty hellish to lvl

I'm pretty sure someone messed up my character and made me look like a noob too but I don't care XD

edit: the whole problem with that damn game was the fact that you absolutley COULD NOT lvl up at all solo at all unless you were a BST... so stupid... at least in WoW and EQ2 you can solo lvls... I didn't and don't plan to play another MMORPG again but **** FFXI was bad when you look back on it..........

Alright, well... back on topic... i'd have to say most modern music... is crap...
but, thats only cause haven't seen much that was really good... i don't go searching for music... thats just not how I work, I have to many other things in my life to go searching for music...
if someone introduces me to music, thats different... like, i've been introduced by people to Tool, Cake, Dragonforce, stuff like that... but back in the 60's-80's, there was GOOD music in the media... which is why it's still so popular today...
The media has the biggest effect on people's opinions... so I don't get why they play all of the crap that they do... Also, i'll be sure to check out Santa Monica or w/e band you guys were talking about before, lol...

I wholeheartedly agree. It seems like people whine about mainstream pipeline but are too narrow minded to actually look beyond that. Everyone wants to complain but nobody wants to put any effort to go out there and find change. They want change to come to them and the labels take advantage of that by force feeding whatever repition sells through the airwaves and cable lines. The internet would seem to provide that kind of fresh innovation but there are few people willing to get it beyond that.

I hope you don't think I do that, because I don't. I have Bloc Party, Placebo, AvA and Flyleaf in the list. That's not all punk and nu-metal. Actually I have no nu-metal in my list. But I would have no problem with one Linkin Park song. I'm a big Alternative/Indie Fan, so even The Killers or something would be very cool. Or Dinosaur Jr. with "We are not alone"

So no, it don't have to be nu-metal and pop-punk only.

I definetely am one of the staunch defenders of Classic Rock and am vehnomately opposed to MOST modern music (that's not to say all, but most).

One thing you do have to consider when you come on to a site that deals with music is that you're going to find a great variety of opinion regarding the quality of music (both modern and classic). The point is that different people have different opinions on music and it is a very personal thing.

So far your posts show that you are very passionate about music, especially modern, but also that you are very much an elitist. You seem to feel that everybody who posts something along the lines of "Classic Rock is better than Modern Rock" must be ignorant.

This is a bad attitude to take and can only lead to animosity between you and other posters on this board who do not believe that modern music can compare to Classic Rock.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but it's how you express that opinion that defines what kind of person you are in the eyes of other posters here. If you wish to educate people about the "virtues" of modern music take a less aggressive tone and strive to educate people about what you see as "good music".

You complain about people being ignorant of good modern music, I'll submit to you that modern record companies do not wish us to be listening to good, well sung, well played and well written music. This is apparent by their lack of fostering real talent and pushing sappy pop, commercialized rap and what passes as "R&B" on the public. Until this is stopped good music will not again come to the fore and is relegated to the underground and rarely heard genres.

In my own eyes the quality of music greatly dropped between 1980 and 1990 and hasn't been able to come back since. Back in the 1960's and 1970's songs meant something. Songs were written in protest of policies ("Masters of War" by Bob Dylan), to increase social awareness of issues ("In The Ghetto" by Elvis Presley, "London Calling" by The Clash, "Black Tie White Noise" by David Bowie), inspire people to take action on subjects ("Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who), and warn of the dangers of continuing down a path we (as the human race) were taking (Although in a bit of an absurdist way, the "Joe's Garage" album by Frank Zappa).

That's not to say no modern music does these things, but modern music as a whole does not do these things very often, and thus it should be swept aside in favour of better songwriting. This is just my opinion, as you can see it differs quite a bit from yours and we could argue until we're both blue in the face and come up with examples discrediting each other's arguements but in the end I won't be able to convince you and you will not be able to convince me. So, I must ask, why create a hostile atmosphere and put people down over something as trivial as musical taste?

All I'm asking is that you read this and just think about it.

My problem with satelite radio is that I love so many genres of music and it's all on there so I can't listen to one station w/o sacrificing so many others. Personally, I'd love to see "Rock Band" go completely left field and put an acoustic cover of Dresden Doll's "Miss Me". That would shock me in ways I couldn't imagine.

if people think that new music sucks then they havent heard coheed and cambria, fall of troy, circa survive or anything else like that. classic music is amazing too but some new bands are right up there with the originals
