View Full Version : How to get your favorite band for DLC

The reason some bands that seem perfect for Rock Band (like the Jimi Hendrix Eperience) don't show up on the set list or DLC is because Harmonix can't afford to purchase the rights to the song because sometimes the people that own the rights to the songs don't care about the music, they just care about the money they get from it (Michael Jackson!!), and that's why they make the songs so damn expensive to use. These songs have very little chance of showing up on rock band unless so many people request it that EA games and Harmonix know that they'll make their money back, and then some.

To get these songs to show up on DLC, email and write EA games and Harmonix asking them to put this song on DLC. If they get enough letters from people about a particular song, they'll decide that it makes sense financially to buy the rights to the song, and they'll make it available for download.

However, other songs are really expensive because the artists don't want just anyone using their songs, like Led Zepplin. They don't just make the songs expensive to use, they sometimes won't let people use the song no matter how much money they offer them because they don't want their song being used in any old movie. However, when making the movie School of Rock, the writer and director wanted to use "Immigrant Song" by Zep in their movie, but they doubted that Zepplin would be willing to let them use it, so when filming the Battle of The Bands scene in the movie, they had Jack Black and an auditorium full of people cheer and beg to use the song in the movie...well, Immigrant Song ended up on the soundtrack.

So, if you want a song by your favorite band to show up in DLC, then send fan mail to your favorite artists begging them to let harmonix use their songs. They might get so much mail from people begging them to do this that they might just let them use their songs for the sake of their fans.

But posting on here which songs you want is fun and all, but if you are serious about wanting a particular song on the game, do what I said.

I want every single Beatles song ever made...
Even Ringo's stuff.

I will rock When I am Sixty-Four to death...in front of thousands of virtual fans...

But...
It'd be kind of ironic in a sense...in that...
The Beatles never really toured.

I'm glad that DrewP_85, the President and head authority of DLC for RockBand, has finally made an official post telling us the steps that must be taken.

Your Kidding right? The Beatles DID in fact tour for a VERY long time until Revolver I belive.
Shea Staduim was like one of the big gigs and they played the Forum in DC and they packed places all over the US as well as the Hollywood Bowl which was recorded on Capital Records but because of the people screaming it is hard to hear a lot of the music and it made it difficult to do the adr work on the album.

YUP! It's a joke! I was kidding when I made my previous post.
I am glad you saw through my shenanigans. ¬_¬

At any rate...
It might be nice to bring up that The Beatles "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" Album was performed live by a bunch of other artists at their own live shows....Like mere days after the album was released.

You've got to admit though...
The Beatles turned into an studio/album only band...
And just look at all the good songs that came out of them doing just that.
And by them, I mean Paul and John.
