My wife and I want this game cuz she likes to sing, and having played it at a friends's house, she complained that there were hardly any girl-fronted bands on there that she recognized. So, yeah...this would be nice.

Oooo...
Even though it is a very annoying song...
"Zombie" by the Cranberries would be awesome in Rock Band!

I have three daughters and they seem a little bummed that there are so many male-sung songs. I think more female-lead songs is very important for this game.

Please bring on more bands with female lead singers. you have no idea how funny it is when you male best friend sings the line "when i wake up in my make up" from one of the female band in the game, I can't remember the band. We laugh and have a good time. my Wife would love to sing more songs by felame bands and you guys listed a lot of good one already

Yes, Ive seen many replies stating "Me and my GF..." or "me and my wife..." and Im in the same boat. My wife loves Karaoke and loves this games - She would defintely appreciate if there were some "GOOD" rockband Downloadable content fronted by female vocalist.

IE.
Evanescence
Cranberries
Jefferson Airplane
No Doubt
Im sure there is more

P.S - Come on HMX - Up to now the DLC hasnt been that good. Metallica Pack 1 rocks and will worth the cash. THe other crap is just that, crap some of the older stuff is good but majority is poo

I am a music fanatic. If you check my profile, you will see I work in the music industry. I have worked as a sound engineer, gigging singer and musician and have worked for an artist management company as both a public relations specialist and road manager. And I honestly love this game. It is almost as fun as the real thing. Great concept. I do however have one issue with Rock Band. Why are there no female rock songs on this game? I know that at the current time there seems to be a lull in female rockers but there are plenty to choose so here are my suggestions:

Heart - Barracuda, Magic Man, Crazy on You, Dog & Butterfly
Stevie Nicks - Edge of Seventeen, Stand Back,
Janis Joplin - (Take another Little) Piece of My Heart
Pat Benetar - Fire & Ice, Love Is a Battlefield
Blondie - One Way or Another, Call Me
Avril Lavigne - Complicated
Sixpence None the Richer - Kiss Me
Meredith Brooks - What Would happen (if we kiss, would your tongue slip pass my lips)
Cheryl Crow - All I Wanna Do
Melissa Ethridge - Come To My Window
Bonnie Raitt - Something to Talk About
Bonnie Tyler - Holding Out For a Hero, Total Eclipse of the Heart
KT Oslin - Constant Craving
Natalie Imbruglia - Torn

Now also there are some very noticeable gaps in the male rock genre:

Fleetwood Mac - The Chain, Rhiannon, Gold Dust Woman, Sara
Styx - Lorali, Renegade, Too Much Time on My Hands
Guns N Roses - Sweet Child of Mine, Welcome to the Jungle, Janie Got a Gun
John Mayer
Train
Journey
Van Halen
ZZ Top
Dire Straits
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Peter Frampton
Eagles

Just to name a few. The real message here to Rock Band is that Women are getting overlooked. We want female rockers for this game. And to some who have posted notices to all the "old people" who are requesting 70's & 80's rock telling them to get over it. You need realize that those groups have stood the test time and proven they are legends. Many of today's "new rock groups" last about one album and have only 1-3 hits instead of 30. It was those groups who made rock music legendary. And realistically, the grooves and structure of the music is much more powerful than most of the newer style of rock, which typically has little structure and no real melodic tune. Every style of music goes in cycles and eventually a more classic form of rock will be back in style.

Please give us Female Rockers and more legends. I work in the music industry and I can tell you sales of the classic rock still outsell most of the current groups.

Some amazing women leads have certainly been listed, but there are a few I think have been missed, and need to be added.
In no particular order:

Chrissy Amphlett
Kate Bush
Sinade O Conner
Courtney Love - Hole
Bjork
Sarah Mcleod - Spiderbait
Debbie Harry - Blondie (worth mentioning again)
Siouxsie - Siouxsie and the banshees
Nico - Velvet Underground
Grace Jones
Wendy O Wiliams - Plasmatics
Toyah Willcox
Suzi Quatro

I've been thinking about this for a while so my wife can have more to sing. Here are a few that would be great (and nobody seems to be mentioning):

Joydrop - Beautiful
Joydrop - I Sometimes Wanna Die
Veruca Salt - Seether
Veruca Salt - Volcano Girls
Alanis Morissette - You Oughta Know (overplayed, I know, but positively venemous)
Guano Apes - Proud Like a God
Breeders - Cannonball
Donnas - Take it Off (a lot of people will remember this from GHI)
Heather Nova - Walk This World

The L7 Pretend That We're Dead suggestion is great; it reminds me of Shaun of the Dead, which is a very good thing.

Been awhile since I started this thread...

Thought of another female led song that I'd like to see in Rock Band.

I don't know why, but I really want to play that guitar solo right at the end of "What I Am" by Edit Brickell & The New Bohemians. That whole "Wahwahwahwah Wah Wah Wah".
It's just so...cool.
For any of you who need a refresh...it's the song that goes...
"I'm not aware of too many things I know what I know if you know what I mean".

obsoleteshock - the L7 song was over the credits of the 'Dawn of the Dead' remake, not Shaun. That doesn't mean it can't make you think of 'Shaun of the Dead', though - if you're like me, you'd rather remember that film anyway.

I'm a female singer, and I would love to see some more female vocal songs. My range is kinda low anyway, so I am fine on most of the male vocal tracks, but there are some really great artists that would fit in nicely with this game. I love some of the bands people have mentioned:

Heart
Concrete Blonde
The Breeders
The Geraldine Fibbers - hey, anyone remember Carla Bozulich's other project, Ethyl Meatplow? I loved that album...
Siouxsie and the Banshees
Evenescence
Sinead O'Connor - I would give my eyeteeth for "The Last Day of our Acquaintance" It has a guitar, bass, vocal and drum part and it ROCKS!
Jefferson Airplane
Janis Joplin!! I can't believe she isn't already included, frankly.

I love Bjork, but a) I don't think she counts as rock music, b) I highly doubt she would allow the songs to be used in this manner and c) I can't think of one song of hers that has a recognisable guitar part. I still love her though, and I would sing every single thing she ever released.

Actually, it was Disturbed's Down With The Sickness that played at the end of Dawn of the Dead. L7 played on some of the commercials and trailers for Shawn of the Dead. obsoleteshock was correct in remembering Shaun.

Also, on topic, some female fronted bands are surely needed. The exclusion of Heart thus far is a crime. There's so many good songs that could be made, but I know I'd kill for a Jefferson Airplane pack with Somebody to Love and White Rabbit in it. The Donnas, Breeders, Joan Jett and Metric would all be welcome. Most of all though....GIVE ME PJ HARVEY!!!!!

I also would love to have more female lead singers, One night Some friends and i were playing rockband and my boyfriend sang "I Think I'm Paranoid" I was in the floor laughing at him... Since i am the one that does most of the singing in the group i get tired of singing male songs all the time, and some just get to low for me... I know that in the past the video gaming industry has been dominated by men, But also the industry has been trying to draw more females into it... Why not let rockband be the one to do it?

How ironic that "Crushcrushcrush" recently became a DLC. A good start, in my opinion.

Now, for those craving Nightwish's older stuff. I love Nightwish as much as the next guy or gal, but a lot of their songs rely heavily on Tuomas' keyboard. At the same time, songs that everyone is familiar with oftentimes are duets between either Tarja and Marco or Anette and Marco (I'm looking at you, Wish I Had An Angel and Bye Bye Beautiful).

To be honest, the two albums whose songs I see best fitting into Rock Band are Oceanborn and Dark Passion Play. Oceanborn has a lot of great guitar songs, but Dark Passion Play contains a lot of variety that has great instruments and vocals all around. And the latter is newer, so exposure would be a great incentive to Roadrunner Records to release them to Harmonix to use as DLC.

Within Temptation's latest is great, too, and the good thing is that it doesn't rely as heavily on keyboard as Nightwish does. I would love to see Mother Earth in the game, though, simply because it's so different from everything else in the game.

I definitely want Heart in this game. The Wilson Sisters are the epitome of woman-fronted rock. We definitely must see Barracuda, but I also want to see some of their stuff from the eighties, seeing how the rock from that decade is sorely unrepresented. Needs moar Alone.

Some songs that i think would be good with female leads

Elastica - Connection
Evanescence - Bring Me To Life, Lithium
Cardigans - Losing My Favorite Game
No Doubt - Spiderwebs, Don't Speak, I Saw Red w/Sublime
Flyleaf - Cassie
Kittie - Brackish

I would love to see more female fronted bands in the game. So far we have Flyleaf, Paramore, Hole, Garbage,...(and I think I'm missing one or two). I think that the reason we have so little female fronted rock is that rock music has been very male dominated for the past 50 years. So, in order to represent rock, the game has a whole bunch of male vocalists.

I would love to see DLC from Jefferson Airplane (Grace Slick), Janis Joplin, Pat Benatar, Fleetwood Mac (Stevie Nicks & Christie McVee), No Doubt (Gwen Stefani), etc. I would gladly spend money for it.
