View Full Version : My tattoo journey - a tale to fix my ugly tattoo!

I had a great idea ages ago to get tinkerbell (my favorite character) tattoo'd on my arms, what better idea then to make a "evil" and "good" tinkerbell and have them in a battle of sorts. I had the outlines of tinkerbells done on my arms, but then never really did anything after that due to lack of funding.

A year or two later, I worked with a guy who did tattoos on the side. He did a couple of my coworker's tattoos and they looked fine, fairly simple but nothing bad. I entrusted him to do the coloring of my tinkerbells and to free hand a "battle" on my collarbone area. I told him I wanted it to be shaped LIKE a star, but i wanted them to be pixie dust shaped and gave him references of what they look like. Instead, i got horribly colored tinkerbells - the "good" one got butchered so bad that my skin rejected the ink and i had a terrible reaction. Imagine green puss pouring out of your arm and layers of skin coming off with it. Hungry? :)

Lots of money later, i vowed to get it fixed before our wedding here in a couple weeks. We have some more work to do after the wedding, we're going to fix a few of the swirls on the chest - you can kinda see in the red ones where the other red is peeking through, so we're going to darken some of that. In addition we will add some white "sparkle" effects within the "pixie dust". Long term plans we will be making half sleeves on the tinkerbells as background, but that wont be for a few years since me and my fiancee plan on having kids very soon - and you cant get tattoo'd while pregnant.

Anyway, here are the pics, I apologize for the lack of quality in the "original" stars but i never took a picture of it because I hated it so bad. My artist did, so maybe he'll have a better image of that on his website later on.

That does look a whole lot better. The old one kind of looked like a bad skin condition, but the new one looks great! :D

The green puss thing reminds me of green fun dip for some reason 0_o.

Either way good for you. Love classic Disney. Looks great.

I'll never understand why people get tatoos where they do.
Even Thai full-body tatoos don't go that far up the sternum.

Because its not up to you what people do with their bodies. I love my tattoo and that's all that ultimately matters.

**** off thanks :)

Dont worry hunny, i'm not losing sleep over what you think of my tattoo. You just confirmed you're just here to be a troll, so move along and quit cluttering up my positive thread with your negativity.

That's what i wanted to fix first and foremost. I really hated how that looked, hense why most of my pictures never included them or always had them covered up. Now I cant wait to "showcase" them all in my wedding dress.

Just having the better wedding pictures with it make it worth while. The artist wants to have a copy so when he gets a young girl who needs to keep her tattoo covered for her "wedding dress" he can show my picture. He wants to show those girls that it can be done and that people do it. They shouldnt be afraid of getting a tattoo in a certain place due to disapproval of their peers or family. Your true family and friends love you for who you are, not what tattoo you have on your body.

Veeeeeeeery nice. Looks a LOT better. The evil Tinkerbell looks like she's been taking fashion tips from Jessica Rabbit!

Ya know, when HMX announced they were going to release a Star Patch, I had no idea it was going to fix people's tattoos as well! Kudos! :D

The new ink looks great. I'm still trying to decide what I want to get for my 2nd one. :)

Wow Daes - looks much much better. I'm glad the guy who did the messy version didn't scar you (my very first tattoo is a massive scar done by some hacker - I can never cover it up...but I don't really care since no one ever sees it - unless I'm mooning them).
anyway, looks great - can't wait to see the final product!

With better coloring, it looks way better Daes.

The only thing I feel is off is "Evil" Tink doesn't look evil enough. I thought she would look more like jealous Tink. You know, really pissed off.

Well, he did create scar tissue, the green tinkerbell looked as if my skin had holes in it (you could see the hair follicle shafts I guess). It hurt like HELL getting it re-tattoo'd. He said he was even being light and gentle and I got a bit woozy after the pain. I wont lie, i was in a few tears. ;)

Nice job! A few years ago, I was in the "tattoos must be hide-able in wedding dress" camp. (I know, I know, who would marry this hunk o' disaster? Regardless.) Then I realized: who would be at my wedding who wouldn't know I had tattoos? Like, who the hell am I trying to "trick"?

You're gonna look like a megafox!!
