I need your help! I'm writing a research paper for english class. My topic is video game related(the social and psychological effects of online gaming on teenagers). I'm supposed to conduct an interview for use in my paper, so I figured "Who better to talk to about video games than a game developer?" I'm still working on the details, but if anyone wants to help me out I'd really appreciate it. :D

Maybe you should interview some of the teenagers' parents. :p

It has to be a professional in the field that I'm researching. Unfortunately, parents don't count. :p

As useful as it might be to interview an HMX employee for your paper (it would be neat to see if HMX has any policies, official or un-, that respond to the possible harmful effects of too much gaming, etc.), I'd think that a more appropriate professional would be someone who's done research in the area. Hit Google scholar and maybe some psychology databases, and see if there's a researcher that you can e-mail to get some info.

Check this out: The International Gaming Research Unit (http://www.ntu.ac.uk/soc/business/specialist_units/65593.html), at Nottingham Trent University. E-mail that guy, and you may just be in business.

I was thinking the same thing. But then I thought, "why not just do two interviews?" Then I get a perspective from professionals in both fields of my topic.

If you don't mind me throwing in another suggestion, this guy did about 5 years of research on the social aspects of MMOGs. (from '99 to '04, I believe)

While specific to a gaming genre, it might be worthwhile to contact him or at least read up on some of his research.
