What's next for DLC? (theory inside)

I was wondering what the next wave of DLC will be...now that the scheduled DLC is all out...what will come next week...I'll bet that they won't tell us beforehand and they'll hit us with a big bombshell of songs (like the Who's Next album or something) on Christmas day! That way everybody who got MS points for X-mas will go home and spend them on RBDLC!!! Might be a good plan! ...Whatever it is it will be good...or free, preferably good, but I guess free would work for me too. I guess free and good would be the best case scenario! Keep up the good work!

P.S. does anybody else here notice the response to RBDLC compared to GH2DLC? LMAO! I've not seen one complaint about the Rock Band downloadable content, compare that to the DLC released for Guitar Hero 2...ha ha ha ha nobody had anything good to say about it...except me, but I never played GH1 and that's why.

Now now, I played GH1, and I also had good things to say about the GH2 downloadable content...

Now, it's true that it's because at some point I made the jump from PS2 to XBox 360, and I didn't want to give up the GH1 tracks when playing on the XBox, but still. I had good things to say about those downloads.

I can't see them NOT announcing upcoming DLC. Makes no sense to just throw it out there without letting people know what's coming.

I think either one of two things will happen:

(A) As you mentioned, it'll be a full album (either Who's Next or Nevermind).

(B) It's Christmas, so Harmonix will take a well-deserved break.

I highly doubt it'll be just another trio of songs.

I'd forgotten...you've played some of these unannounced songs, haven't you? Ah well, they have to release some more information soon enough. As a conservative estimate, I'd guess they'll just release one of the albums/Grateful Dead content that they've already announced. Then again, I just heard Good Times Bad Times in a commercial on ESPN, a little reminder that Led Zeppelin's songs have become much easier to get ahold of recently. They can't be too far off, now....

The other day I went to check out what GH3 had planned for DLC, figuring... they'd be stepping thier game up to compete.

I couldn't stop laughing. I knew most of the bands they had announced, but nobody else I know has ever heard of them. The next 20 or so announced tracks for GH3 look like "bonus tracks" from RB.

I have nothing against little known bands... but most of us want to rock out along side music we know.

BTW, what's with the lack of Christmas songs??? You'd think they'd like to take our MS Points by offering us some Christmas tunes to rock to...granted, Red Octance / Activision is giving GHIII owners a free song, but what about Harmonix and EA? No holiday spirit? It would be awesome to have some kind of rock Christmas song to jam to next week and the days to come...

I hope with the "comeback" that Zep is making, they will see that they can use RockBand to reach a new generation of listeners that may not realize what they're missing.

Potentials for DLC next week is either songs from The Who, off of the Who's Next album, which would be awesome, and it has been talked about as some of the first DLC since way before launch. Also there is a slight chance for another album, Nirvana's Nevermind which has also been talked about quite a bit, and really would personally make my Christmas amazing! Other than that there is potential for some of the 18 Greatful Dead tracks promised, or maybe even some new Metallica.

Other than this we could see some kind of Christmas songs released which could be cool, or some other packs that have yet to be announced at all. I don't expect there not to be a pack released weekly for the rest of the year, I just wish they would announce the schedule again. It is so convenient knowing what you are getting, although surprises are cool too.

DLC that we know is coming is the Dew Breakout Band winner. Myriad or something, I caught a glimpse of the song and heard it will be DLC for the game. I don't know if that will be released song or what, not that I'm excited for it.

The only reason I think they might have something for christmas is that they haven't said that they don't. If they were going to release nothing on christmas, then to avoid backlash from disappointed fans they would logically come out and say "We're taking a well-deserved break for the holidays," not doing that would be crazy, because it would just leave a bunch of people disenfranchised and angry.

As is, I think they don't have enough DLC to keep the train rolling as long as was insinuated. They talked about things like weekly DLC when GH2 was coming out for the 360, and it didn't happen. Making DLC is a whole lot of work, and they can't be expected to actually put out that much high quality product that fast.

I am positive that all the DLC released so far was in the can before the game was even released or it wouldn't have been announced. I suspect that some of the covers were going to be on the game disc before being replaced late in the game by masters that were acquired. Any DLC is going to be finished well before it's released, so HMX can take all the holiday they like over the next few weeks, that's got nothing to do with anything being released or not.
