Just something I've noticed on my Hofner Bass guitar for 360. I was seeing if it was possible to plug the headset into the guitar so you can talk to people (which I know is possible on the drums) and found an audio jack on the bottom of the guitar but there's just one tiny problem. Its the wrong size for the flipping headset!!! Headphones fit but headphones aren't what's needed! Is it just my guitar or are they all designed stupidly like this? What's the point in a headset jack that you can't plug the headset into?

Hi - that's not the headset jack. You'll find that on the side of your guitar's body. It's actually the only input on the part of the guitar where it's located (turn the bass on the side and look up towards the neck).

The jack you found is for a Overdrive pedal.

Drum pedals work and so will just about any normally open momentary switch with a 1/8" mono plug.

Examples - Tatoo Machine footswitch - Keyboard Sustain Pedal.

Those generally come with a 1/4 mono plug so a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter will be required.

Interesting...didn't see that headset input in a less than obvious place (I thought down by the Guide button was the sensible place) Do the normal RB bass pedals work as overdrive pedals or maybe even the GH bass pedal (I have one lying around) seems an odd thing to be on the guitar though, I guess some people prefer it to tilting the guitar though.

RB bass pedals should work, but I'm not sure if the GH pedal would work. Only way you'll know is if, well, you try it out. ;)

GH pedals are a piezo type switch and wont work.

The RB Drum pedals are a little lacking in cord length to play with standing up if you are any taller than the Travel Gnome (Not that there is anything wrong with that) but an inexpensive mono 1/8 extension cord will fix that. Radio Shack carries them.

Is it just my guitar or are they all designed stupidly like this? Now that you see where the jack is, perhaps you can understand the value of not making snap judgments and remarks that will later embarrass you. :o

On the part of the guitar that's closest to your head is the most sensible place - it's not in the way of your strap and less likely to get tangled when you do tilt the guitar.

Locating the jack by the Guide button is only sensible if we operate on the assumption that people won't bother to look anywhere else. ;)

Wow, you're a douche.

Yeah I made a snap judgement, am I embarassed? No I was merely ill informed. The headset jack blends with the rest of the guitar and is hard to see, bye the guide button seems the sensible place beause its obvious and doesn't force you to search the guitar for a small black hole. Its placement isn't stupid its just really not very obvious, it could do with some chroming like what is around the overdrive jack and guide button/

Wow, you're a douche.
Hang on, I'm a douche for pointing out how embarrassing it is when you say the design is stupid because you're too obtuse to find the jack? So, you're blind and dumb.

Fine, if I'm a douche, you're an imbecile. The only "stupidity" is your inability to find the hole. That will cause you all sorts of problems later in life too.

It's in a more sensible place now, you're just angry because it took some effort to find it. You decided to take that anger out on me because I pointed out the folly of jumping to conclusions and blaming others for your mistakes. Alienating people who can help you is guaranteed to make your time here on the forums more difficult.

Sorry that you got your feathers so ruffled up because I pointed out how making ill-informed snap judgments can cast you in a bad light. I hadn't realized you were such a delicate butterfly that neeeded to be handled with such great care. Next time you fly off the handle and make an unnecessary rant thread blaming others for your lack of scrutiny, I'll just remind you that Mommy says you're special and unique. Will that help?

There - I figure if you're going to slur me, I can at least earn it.

The way he's going on, I think that'd be a bonus to humanity. ;)

Yeah, let's chrome the hole on the side of the body so that Lil' Stevie can find it easier. That's a great way to preserve the authentic appearance of the controller.

Aww, the hell with that. Let's just put a sticker that says "Right Here, Jay Reatard->" next to it instead. :D

Maybe they could sell a bike helmet with an integrated wireless headset that works with the Hofner, then we won't have any more threads like this.

You weren't ill-informed, you were willfully ignorant. No one told you that the jack was located there, you examined it on your own, made that conclusion and then came to the forums with the ultimatum that either your guitar was defective, or that it was designed stupidly, and neither appears to be the case. That you don't have the good grace to be embarassed about all that is another matter entirely.

OK well... I've read this thread, I've searched on my Hofner, and I still can't find the headset port lol. Either I'm blind or it was removed from the european version.

Take a look at the instruction pamphlet that came in the box. It will show you right where it is.

Thanks God! I want to get some good headphones to play with, so I can look like the Band on their studio era.
