I thought I saw a thread like this before but couldn't find it. Wanted to share a new idea I had and see if anyone else had good ideas as well. Post 'em here!
My idea:
You remember that game "Bust a Groove"? It was a dancing game, before DDR ever came out, in, like, 1998 or something, around the time of Parappa the Rapper. Controls just like DDR, but there was no dance pad. You just used the controller.
Anyways, when the song began, they just did a normal rocking back and forth. As you got higher combos, their dance moves became more and more complex, until they were really jammin! But, if you made a mistake, they just went back to the left-right shuffling.
I want to use this idea in Rock Band! Your button presses should have an affect on the animations, I think. This is too complex of a project to be put in a patch for Rock Band 1, though...
Basically, as your multiplier gets higher, your character starts rocking out harder and harder. Drummer starts bouncing more, guitarist starts walking around, singer starts dancing around...
If you make a mistake, the guitarist will stop dancing around, get a focused look on his face, and just stare at the guitar strings until you get your multiplier back up. Drummer might look confused and miss a few notes before slowly getting back on-beat. Singer would stand still and hold the mic close as he/she looks down.
So, yeah, I hope that HMX takes this under advisement. It's something that I wish they put into DDR and Guitar Hero, and it's fun to see that kind of interaction between how you well you play and how the character performs on-stage.
Anyone else, post your opinions about my idea, or post your own idea!

I would have to say double bass pedals. Being able to have double bass pedals would open up a lot of songs too.

My "big" idea is this.
Take the Strat. Rip the neck off of it. Throw away everything but the neck.
Now. Get a very tiny pinwheel. Put some resistance on it, so that it spins while you're blowing on it, but when you stop blowing on it, it stops spinning pretty rapidly.
Then hook up a sensor to detect how fast the pinwheel is spinning. Attach that to the Strat's whammy-bar sensor, so it's an analog input that gets passed along as controller data.
Fiddle with the ergonomics a bit so that it doesn't suck nearly as much as it would if I built the thing myself.
Voila, you have a controller that can be used to emulate what Clarence does in this song...

...or what Satchmo does in this song...

...or maybe even what Ian does here...

Anyhow. That's my big idea for "Rock Band 2".

Be able to change the band leader.
Be able to change the way a character looks.
Be able to have local high scores for solo play listed by name on a local leaderboard.
(Enter name upon high score)
Play BWT online vs other bands.
Be able to pick your band member characters if not all humans are present.
Fix the mic delay in dolby digital.
Have LFE output. (.1 in 5.1)
Lose the fan cap.
Have setlists that contain songs of similar difficulty.
There is more , but this is what comes to mind offhand.

I'd say we have all the instruments then the singer, guitarist and bass player get a DDR pad to dance on, then the singer also straps a Wiimote on each arm and then they have to do crazy arm movements too! lol, I like RB just how it is

Oh, also, I want "Theremin Hero".
(But I don't expect enough people want it for there to be a market for it. Alas.)

I don't see a DDR type deal working at all.
What's all this about Rock band 2? With new DLC rolling out weekly, there's no point in making a brand new game so soon
