Canada: Please release DLC part II

A date would be nice. The response "when the game is released" is unresponsive, as the game was supposed to be released yesterday, as per the sticky which still amusingly claims December 17. As of right now there is no Canadian release date, although Dec 20, Dec 27, and "sometime in January" seem to be the leading contenders.

Before anyone announces that Dec 17 was just the shipping date, not the release date, please note that "ship date" means, in the video game industry, the date on which the product is available for retail sale. For example, EA's press release (http://www.ea.com/article.jsp?id=rbgold116) for Rock Band includes,



"Rock Band is a true symbol of Harmonix's vision, dedication and passion for music and after two years of development, we are thrilled that Rock Band is finally ready to get in the hands of rock fans everywhere," said Alex Rigopolous, CEO of Harmonix. "We have a small army filling our warehouses with final product, ready for our November 20th ship date so players can fulfill their rock and roll aspirations."

Notice that November 20 was not the date on which units began physically shipping to retailers' warehouses, it was rather the date on which stores could begin selling units to customers.

When will the DLC be released in Canada?

As of today I am hearing that Microsoft plans on releasing the DLC in Canada on the 20th through the marketplace. I believe this will be a monster release of every song we've put out so far as DLC for the game.

Also we'll have to agree to disagree about the meaning of ship date. Ship date has always been when it is shipped out of warehouses to retailers and street date is when a product becomes available.

I am from Canada (Alberta) and even though I don't have the game yet due to it not being availiable here till the 28th. I have a ton of download content for the game on my PS3's hard drive (have had it for about 2-3 weeks already.) I just went to the playstation store and there it was about 5 different song packs to download for RockBand. Now I just wish I had the game to play those song packs with, lol.

Not the same dollar amounts, but the same MS Points as the US. It's more expensive because CND pays more for Pts then the US. Not a big deal and shouldn't be discussed here.

Yes, PS3 CND DLC (OMG BBQ) was released at launch.

Guys, buy point cards. Very often BB and FS have online sales over weekends that have small things like 10% off accessories and stuff. That's what I did, I got my 2800 points for 33.99 + tax. It works out to even cheaper than the US Points, but by a fraction of cents. Still I would advise to wait or look around for cheap point cards (don't get US ones though because they won't work) they're rather easy to find.

I got mine for $32.59 after tax. Traded in the free Superman Returns that came with Mass Effect.

Anyway I mentioned it because the PS3 downloads are $1 more + tax and come out to $3.40 but there's already been a discussion about that,also because of the video marketplace prices so there was some concern.

I downloaded 5 songs so far though I still haven't got the game.

Don't be in a rush. As of today (yesterday actually - my EBGames had a few copies) you can purchase the game in Canada (without border hopping) but EA refuses to warrant the bad instruments inside of it. Go figure.

Where are you located I have been phoning my eb games every day and they were told that it was shipped to their main warehouse in ontario yesterday. And it would be shipped as soon as possible to them. I have never purchased ANYTHING!!! that has had so many delays with out any clear reasons why....I mean if the US got theirs a month ago...WTF!!!! I think that they should seriuosly look into changing whoever is in charge of overseeing the shipping :mad:

Yea well there's no EB here and there's still no bundles here either. DLed them now to save time later. I wanted My Sharona to be the first song I play so I just DLed them to save time later. I'm not exactly paient anyway. I remember when Domino came out on DVD and it wasn't in to rent in widescreen,only full so I went and bought it.
