Just a word of warning, I've heard that the update has been causing problems on regular Wii's that have not been hacking also. You might want to hold off on the update to protect yourself. (Attack of the Show mentioned it the other day, not sure of the specifics but it's something to consider before you update).

No, you can use your Wii points for DLC, since tat's through the in-game Music Store. You just can't buy any Virtual Console/WiiWare games, nor can you add any Wii points. I'm assuming you hack your Wii, Helios? Mine came out ok after updating earlier today.
