I believe the way it works is:

You go into Online quickplay, and hit Find Players. It then goes and searches for an already-formed band that is lacking your instrument. If it finds one, it sticks you in there.

If it doesn't find a band that needs your instrument, it forms a new band with you as the leader. Then you wait for other people to find you.

That is how it works. I end up being the leader more times than not but that makes no difference. I notice that A LOT people don't have most of the DLC. Like half have the metallica pack, no one has the queens pack, some have buddy holly, some have fortunate son, more have my sharona.

Oh well. But yes, that is how it works.

There's been plenty of other threads on this where this was confirmed. If you don't find the answer you're looking for in one thread, try using the forum Search to find another. Most topics have at least a half-dozen threads :p

that is how I found this thread, and replied to it.
I hope you noticed that I didn't make 'yet another' thread, I just
replied to one of the existing ones out there.
I do use the search.
