Activision to Harmonix: Pay Up for Guitar Patch (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/50491)
I am officially boycotting Activision, its games, its accessories, and its services until they allow the Rock Band PS3 patch to go through without Harmonix paying a cent for it.
I am an XBox 360 player, and even though this does not effect me, I feel that something must be done to tell Activision that they're wrong.
Although I still have Activision games, and will hold on to them, hoping that Activision gets their head out of their back end quickly so that I can play them again, they will not be played until the day the patch is released. They will begin to collect dust on my shelves. My GH3 Les Paul will go untouched along with the games. If I have any pay-per-month Activision games (though I'm not even sure they exist, but just to cover all my bases) I will terminate my subscription.
I will openly tell people that I am boycotting Activision, should the conversation ever lead that way, and why. I will encourage others to do the same.
I will add "Boycott Activision! Allow the Rock Band PS3 patch!" into every forum signature, instant message profile, and any other internet based location (which includes 360 gamertag mottos, not sure if PSN has a similar space, but if it does, put it there, too) I belong to/own. I WILL NOT DEFACE ANY REAL LIFE LOCATION OR WEB PAGE WITH THIS LINE THAT I DO NOT OWN. I am doing this peacefully, and within the confines of the law. My message will not be heard if it is heard through malicious acts.
This is the action I take against Activision, and I encourage everyone to do the same. With enough passive action, we could force Activision to concede its position. Harmonix' ability to reverse-engineer the PS3 Les Paul is impressive, and deserves to be included in their game. (And I'm sure it will work better in Rock Band than it does in Guitar Hero III)
