View Full Version : Do people think you're weird, because you are a huge The Beatles fan?

Many i know, thinks im so old-fashioned and weird, because i listen to the Beatles all the time, and because i have 100's of posters on my wallS, from the Magical Mystery Tour movie poster, to the Abbey road poster. Because i have a bunch off weird Beatles stuff like The Magical Mystery Toy Bus and key chain, and all movies that excist with The Beatles, all the CD's, a lot of T-shirst, Hodies, Caps, Beanies, books and it goes on AND on. Yes, i've spent a lot of money on Beatles merch.

Because i spent many many many hours on a The Beatles mix, where i took a part of EVERY each song, and mixed it into ONE long The Beatles mix song.

And yeah, im talking about The Beatles all the time.

They think i should go to a retirementhome, and sit in an old chair and listen to that "old crap".

Why does people today, judge you, for listening to such great music? Honestly, i hate techno music. And i hate hip-hop. But i respect people, who likes that. I prefer The Beatles, and i only listen to them. But im not "on the beat", and listen to all this new modern music, and that makes people think, that im just a old loser, who is stuck in the old days.

Why are people so stupid. And why do people think, they have the rights, to question me, just because i listen to music from the 60's and 70's?

If some of this does'nt make sense, then you have the rights to judge me. Because im from Denmark, and we suck ass at english.

Well that is a lot of Beatles merchandise. If you were just a little more of a Beatles fan you probably would kidnap Paul and make him write a song for you or something.

Also, a lot of people at my school likes the Beatles.

Also there's other bands than the Beatles. Go listen to more music.

My two friends that I hang out with the most both hate The Beatles, and think that I'm weird because I prefer them over bands like Avenged Sevenfold and Green Day, both of which I openly despise.

Kids in my school think I'm weird (musically) for:
A: Listening to album tracks
B: Having 90% of the music I listen to come out before 2000
C: Knowing of obscure line-ups of popular bands
No one talks to me about music any more.

There are people who find it strange that a 29 year old only likes bands from the 60's/70's yes. I really don't know why as The Beatles are obviously the most popular band of all time, I really don't get why it's even still brought up.

But anyway my response always is "I find anyone who doesn't like The Beatles strange."

You have no idea. In class, whenever there is a Beatles reference in a textbook, workbook, or anything like that, the WHOLE class, everyone, boys, girls, teachers, everyone, looks straight at me with a very disturbing look on thier faces.

Though, I don't mind, I think they're crazy.

:)

See what I did there?

Some people I know think I'm sorta weird for loving the Beatles so much, but none of them know hardly any Beatles songs. Anyone who doesn't like them doesn't know that many of their songs; therefore they can have no opinion on the matter.

I don't know whats wrong with the schools you people go to. Everyone at my school loves the Beatles. There are so many people where Beatles shirts or singing the songs in class. Especially after TB:RB came out. I've heard people singing I Am the Walrus, Here Comes the Sun, Come Together, and All You Need is Love so many times in the past month it's crazy.

I've gone from being a Beatles fan to a Beatles superfan, and that has drawn some odd looks, but I'm the type of person that always has a new obsession, so I'm used to odd looks. Honestly, the rest of the music I like is indie, so compared with Reigning Sound or Jay Reatard, Beatles is one of the bands I can use to relate with people most.

The best part about getting older is learning how not to care about what other people think of you. But if you have trouble dealing with people, stay focused on what binds you with others, not what makes you different. It can take awhile to learn how to do that, and I wish I'd learned sooner.

Being 24, and being a huge Beatles and their solo work enthusiast, yes, my friends all think I'm crazy, because the majority of my friends listen to gangster rap and new age alternative ****. But they also know me as being one of the most musically inclined people they know. I'm sort of a music Guru in my area, and my friends have come to terms with my musical taste, and although they may not agree and listen to that stuff as often as I, they respect it, because they know if I'm listening to it, it must be good. I've turned dozens of my friends onto the Beatles, and though they thought it was like torture at first, they've grown to love the Fab Four almost as much as I.

I don't think anyone's ever thought me weird for liking the Beatles, they find me weird for liking bands like Dresden Dolls, you know bands that are actually odd? Although people found it weird when I went to see Leonard Cohen live apparently I'm too young to appreciate him or something

I did get some VERY weird looks in my old art class once. We had to use that caligraphy pen which gives everything a Pink-Floyd-The-Wall like look to what you write. So on a red paper with black ink I put, "See how they run like pigs from a gun see how they run."

That was an uncomfortable few seconds of show and tell the teacher put on.

I know it's snied but that just didn't fit the assignment! It was either that or Pink Floyd's Brain Damage, but I overkilled that band at school by wearing the shirts and such.

Wtf does snied mean anyways? To sneer or something, isn't it? :D

I only listen to The Beatles as well and have Beatles Merchandise. None of my friends or anyone else make fun of me cause i like the beatles. Some of my friends like them but aren't huge fans like i am. The only person who really makes fun of me is my dad. Like he's joking but out of all the people he's like the only person that would go "oh my your playing that racket" When im playing TBRB.
Like I don't like hip hop or rap or techno either. Rock is where its at...not the rock nowadays but back then...classic rock. Its fine that you like hip hop or w/e but when you say the beatles suck...im sorry you're an idiot and shouldn't deserve to listen to music.

When I was real young I loved the Beatles, like 4-5 years old. Had all the albums knew them by heart. As I got older I stopped listening to them and slowly made my way to hip-hop, in 4th grade I bought a Run DMC album and I listened to exclusively hip hop from 4th grade to college. One day in my mid-20's I stumbled on one of my old Beatles tapes, Sgt. Pepper. I listened to that and within a month I had all of the CD's, watched the Anthology and was fully hooked again.

My friends were quite surprised I liked the Beatles because I had absolutely no interest in anything non-hip-hop. Most of them were pretty anti-Beatles but I have converted most with TB:RB.

People that listen to only one kind of music and refuse to listen to other genres are the worst kind of people. I honestly believe that you can tell alot about a person by the kind of music they listens too. I am a fan of the Beatles. (apparently not as much as the one that started this topic) although i don't have any of their merchandise, aside from their CD's. But I also listen to house, techno, rap, real hip hop(there is a difference between rap and hip-hop)pop,country etc...

I also get a little crap feedback from friends, and the wife for listening too so much Beatles,or constantly playing the game, but i don't care what people say all that much so I just brush it off. And even though they talk smack I can still hear them singing the songs in the background. LOL

When you have musicans like Leonard Bernstein and Stockhausen liking your music and you are a huge Beatles fan then you're in good company.

I grew up in a era where the modern bands like Nirvana, The Chemical Brothers, Radiohead, U2, and American Alternative rock scene and most of them loved the Beatles. Brit-Pop was very influenced by the Beatles. Not everyone is going to like the Beatles for various reasons. Then again no band has 100% percent approval rating.

I listen to other music, but I never get tired of the Beatles. They are what really opened me to lyrical music, as before I only cared for instrumentals, orchestral, jazz, etc. I like to hear vocals as musical instruments and the Beatles were certainly one of the best at that. That's one of the reasons I really dislike rap (let's rhyme really fast with gangster slang), heavy metal (gruff grumble scream), country (too twangy and whiny, even as a Texan myself), and most modern pop (poor vocalists that are liked for their popularity rather than ability). That being said, I have been looking for other bands to sate my interests. I've been getting into Oldies (60's, 70's mostly) and listen to Classic Rock occasionally. But I've been finding myself drifting back into non-vocal music or instrument-focused music, so if any of you have some good recommendations, I'd be glad to hear them.

I once made a Beatles song medley for an English project by mixing various Beatles songs to fit the theme of the Knight's Tale from Canterbury Tales xD.

Wow, that's weird. It's actually completely opposite here, the people that listen to older music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s despise the new generation on hip-hop and rap. Only jocks and preps listen to pop, because they just try to look cool probably. I find it fine actually if you have a ton of merch from the four, I've seen lots of people with as much merch too. I was actually lucky enough to find 3 friends that like The Beatles too. But in my opinion, there's NOTHING wrong with listening to any old band.

I haven't met anyone who likes the Beatles as much as I do, but I don't often come in contact with other people that are near the same age as me.

I mostly like music from the 1950s through the 1970s and some from the 80s, and sometimes I feel like the only one. My favorite artists besides the Beatles are Elvis Presley, the Beach Boys, the Who, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

George was right about rap music.

Tell me about it, a bunch of people at my school think i'm weird because I love The Beatles. Even my own father thinks i'm weird because of it. Now every now and then I do listion to Christian bands like: Toby Mac, MercyMe, Chris Tomlin, etc. Me and two other guys at my school are the only ones who like the beatles, everyone else is in to that techno crap.

DC Talk forever, boiiiii! If you haven't heard Petra, you haven't heard anything yet. (I think I just dated myself.)

p.s. Ain't nothing wrong with listening to some Christian music. It brings new meaning to the term "thump."
