Dunno if this has been raised yet, but I think a wicked idea would be a freestyle drum practice mode. Obviously there are a lot of different sounds that will be produced by just 4 drum pads (Different cymbals, different toms, different snares in each song) but it would be fairly simple to be able to select certain one-shot drum sounds (One snare or one tom) and assign them to specific drum pads, then just jam out without fear of losing.

Not only would that help timing and rhythm if a metronomes included, but then the game would also double as a complete practice set of drums. Awesome and easy to implement.

Great ****ing idea.

Wow, never really thought of that for the drums. But, since i'm not a drummer at all, but am looking forward to it more than the rest of the game, that would be really helpful. Sounds like a great idea to me.

Sort of thought of that in early guitar hero days, but it would just be too pointless to implement into the guitars, being way too many notes. But with the drums, you got a snare, highhat, tom, cymbal, bass pedal. Everything you need to atleast practice your technique and rhythm.

At least, they will probably continue practice mode with songs though if nothing else.

Agreed... With 5 buttons you can't exactly 'learn' guitar.. But I got the idea for this through digital beatmaking programs, specifically one called ReDrum.. It lets you pick through about 100 different sounding snares, hi-hats, bass drums, or just sound effects and assign em to different slots, and then you can lay them out however you want them to sound and effectively create a beat from the first kick drum on.

Not sure about the hardware of 360's and such when it comes to audio... but if they could find a way to save even 5-10 one second audio clips for each drum, and make them selectable... They could easily market this not only as a game, but an electronic drum set and a way to teach yourself the drums. I don't see any downsides... It looks like they already have freestyle fills and such thrown into certain parts of the song, so if they ran with that in an unlimited practice mode it'd be killer :)

This is a great and logical idea. I was hoping they would have something like this as well. It seems very possible and practical. I mean they already have those freestyle sections for fills. They would just have to implement that into a freestyle practice mode.
Hey Hmxsean, is this idea plausible?

This should definitely be done.
I remember in GH, I would go to the first tutorial and 'tune' my guitar so I could jam with a few notes...

... That didn't work.

This seems much more plausible though, and I hope it gets in.

well if they do that they could also bring back duel mode from Amplitude(harmonix's second ps2 game). It's like "HORSE" but each person takes turns laying down a beat and then your opponent has to match it. if they screw up they get a letter(in amplitude it was a letter of "amplitude" In this case I guess Rock band could work.

Also a good plan, but that would be a bit harder to implement.. Then you have the problem of recording playback, and probably showing notes on the screen after playing it.. and people may be off beat while playing. Good idea if they could make it work

not really in amplitude they had it scalable as far as difficulty(mind you amplitude was just three columns of note pods). On easy you could only put notes in certian places on the note chart(defined by transparent blocks of notes). On medium you were given more room to make beats. On hard you ahd free range except no beat could go faster than 1/8th time and on expert it was free up to 1/16th time. so if they can make free practise drum sounds for a practice jam mode, making them available for this would be just as easy and require just a minute amount fo tesing time. Unfortunatly if it isn't already implemented then it's too late to add it to this years version. though maybe an update could be made later.

I think this is a great idea myself, being a drummer,it would definately help timing and stuff. Also, you should be able to record and publicise your solo or somethin, just to share with friends. Maybe something like Moby Dick r something =)

Record drum fills for each song, so that it shows the notes you made up when the song plays... Choose to come up with a solo on the fly or use one of your premades :)

This is such an awesome idea, god i hope they can put something like this in the game. But i honestly can see this coming in Rockband 2...... Such a cool idea though.

yeah...i wouldn't doubt it being in RB2...but most likely not the first one..they have to cover the basics in this one

Hey, there's lots of thinkers over at HMX.... who knows if they haven't already put this or something similar in the game. I would assume they're going to have a practice mode for everything anyways. Guess we just wait and see!

Infact lets try to see if we can get this answered by Hmxsean....... atleast give us an answer like "that is definitely a possibility" cause god knows they wont give us a real answer about something this specific, interms of gameplay.

of course it's a possiblity and I garantee it came up in a meeting. though it's just not that likely for this game.

Wow, chill dude. We haven't announced anything other than a few specific modes. In time you'll get a chance to know about everything in the game.
