Rock Band For PS2 = Does Anyone Know?

I call Best Buy, they tell me it will be released on 12/23.
I call Circuit City, they tell me it will be released on 12/28.
I call Wal-Mart, they tell me it will be released in February.
I call Target, they tell me it's not out and hang up.
I call Gamestop, they tell me they're getting some today.

Honest to God, is this how it normally goes for popular game releases? I honestly don't know, because I wouldn't really consider myself a hardcore gamer. For me, it's a minor inconvienence, but there are going to be a lot of Christmases ruined because of this complete lack of communication.

If it turns out that Gamestop doesn't have it, I'll be doing the PS3 Bundle/PS2 Game combo. This requires me to also buy a USB Hub, correct? How much are those, and where can I snag one?

This forum has been extremely helpful. I appreciate any comments.

Dude, there's a couple threads on this right now. Search is your friend. :-) In short, it's out. Some places are getting it sooner than others due to holiday shipping. Most places only are receiving enough to cover preorders.

I snagged a PS2 bundle tonight (yea me!) I found Walmarts to be the best bet.

Best Buy told me it wouldn't be in their stores till the 28th. Game Stop here got theirs but only got enough to fill the pre-orders. Our closest Walmart got theirs in today and were already sold out by 3:30 when I called. I started calling other Walmarts and found that one store had "several" as they said. I made the 40 mile drive and they DID have several. So I would suggest checking all the Walmart's within driving distance for you. Be sure to make them check for sure. When I called our local Walmart they told me, "they came in today, we got them" when I made her check to see for sure, she came back and said they were all gone. So before you make a long drive, make them check and see if they will hold a copy for you. The Walmart I went to today was willing to hold a copy for me, but she said, "we have several and they'll still be here". So if they know you're coming from far away, they will probably hold one for you. GET NAMES!!!!!!

Just some advice...

I've lived in more places than I care to mention, so this isn't location specific advice.

Gamestop and EB Games across the nation are full of idiots.

Now, I'm not usually the type of person to condemn anyone or state even state negative opinions. (check out most of my posts, I'm a pretty positive guy) but I'm a fairly hardcore gamer (meaning.. I buy A LOT of games... not that I'm great at them) and for years I've had constant problems with Gamestop / EB.

On any major game release they will ALWAYS tell you that they only have enough to fill pre-orders.

Most of the time, on the phone, they will tell you they don't have whatever game you are looking for.

I called three local gamestops the day BEFORE Guitar Hero THREE came out to try and buy a copy of guitar hero TWO with the guitar. All three said they were sold out, weren't getting any more, and that I should pre order guitar hero 3 before it's too late. (I already had guitar 3 preordered, and just wanted another guitar hero 2 guitar)

I went to one of the stores, they had three copies of GH2 with the guitar. My buddy, coincedentally, went to another of the stores and found 2 copies of GH2 with the guitar.

They blatantly lied to me on the phone. Who knows why.


Mass Effect: I didn't have a preorder. I wanted it the day it came out. Three stores said they didn't have copies of it on the phone. I went to one anyway, and bought a copy. Once again, a blatant lie.


I won't turn this into a flame on gamestop/eb (anymore than it already is) but... it's not just preorders. After reading these boards I went to the closest one to me and asked "Hey, if I buy Rock Band will my Guitar Hero guitar work on my playstation 3?" (I don't even own a PS3) and the guy said "Yeah, all the controllers work." I asked "Are you sure, cause I read some stuff that says it doesn't" he said "Yeah I'm positive, dude. My buddy has it."

When I said "That's awful funny." then I brought up a google news report on the activision/hmx feud on my Iphone and showed it to him he still wouldn't back down. "Yeah, well.. i don't know what that's about.. cause my buddies works fine on his PS3"


So the moral of the story is.. if you CAN then just go to the Gamestop/EB games. Talking to them on the phone is a lot like trying to seduce a rabid pit bull: A stupid idea and no matter what you get, it's not gonna be something you like.

ive called like 8 gamestops in the boston area(where i live) and all of them said they only had enough to fill preorders for ps2.are you saying that if went to all of them at least one would have them?

I had a friend convinced to return her GH3 bundle she got (online) for her husband (my buddy) and get the PS2 RB bundle. I called Best Buy and they told me it was coming out on Wednesday. I sent her to Best Buy on Wednesday and they told her that due to "Lead Paint" it was recalled and wouldn't be out until January sometime.

I go into Target yesterday and see this:

I think the time of being able to trust a representative in a (tech?) store is completely over.

I got one one thursday from sams club around 1 PM. Before that I was looking like crazy for one. The guy from gamestop told me that the were only going to get 2 and of course they were all read pre-ordered. But sams club had about 16 of them. So I think your best bet is to search around stores like target, wal-mart and sams club. Not sure about best buy or circuit city though.
