So Who is gonna Win the Setlist War?

GH has Beilieve DLS AND BEP Lets get it started, but LRB has Swing Swing, we will rock you and more... plus i hate Taylor Swift's music but she is a good person all the way so

Ok here are some stats.

Similarities
They Share 4 Songs together
They also Share 4 Artists Together

Band Hero
Pros- 3 TAYLOR SWIFT songs. -_- (Fail in my opinion)
Actual Graphics for some singers. no blocks.
65 Songs
2 No Doubt and 3 Taylor Swift Songs (can be a pro or con)
Import OR export
Multiplayer drop in/out
New Peripherals ( new drum set and frum for DS)

Cons
you sing on a stage compared to Lego rock bands destructible backgrounds
New Peripherals will be wii only for a while, then DSi cannot use the Guitar grip and (maybe) the drum pad
Mainstream music more toward children
The DS version has better songs than the console -_- another fail

Lego Rock Band
Pro's
Lego people like Iggah pop! :)
destructible backgrounds
new innovative style merging brands
no stupid more expensive extras for the DS version
super easy mode has been added.

Cons
Less songs
No online
10 bucks for EXPORT

I know who is going to win the locked thread war.

aggiesrul8
10-19-2009, 05:08 PM
If you listen to the folks who used to post in the threads about which DLC was the best for the month (RB v. GH), the folks used to always say that they go with whoever provides the most amount of music (people who say this know who they are, no need to link to the various threads).

In this case, you would have to go with Band Hero.

On the other hand, I am a fan of RB, therefore am biased towards Rock Band. However, the Lego RB setlist is one that has some heavy hitters, but also provides some songs that leave me saying WTF.

/thread? whats that do? but eh yes i know, but look at how many songs are actually familiar with LRB and BH.. i think GH will milk the BH saga till were about at BH 7 then give up and copy a different story. Sadly i can guarentee people will say band her on the setlist.

and anyone that has GH on the DS, do you HAVE to have the stupid GH insert port?

On a less morbid note, the L:RB setlist is better, even though they are both quite good (I have ignored the DS setlists for both games).

i must say both games have a pretty good setlist, but overall the lego game has a lot more songs that i love
also rockband will always be better because of the charting and the engine.

but i must say i'm surprised by the ammount of songs in band hero, i was sure there would be 45songs like all other spin-off games.

I like Lego Rock Band's setlist up to the 2000's, which is a crapshoot.

Goddamn it. I knew it was only a matter of time before Word Up made it to Rock Band, but I was hoping it would be Cameo's and not KoRn's cover. Fffff.

EH WHY THE HELL DOES BAND/GUITAR HERO GET MORE ANGELS & AIRWAVES?

Wasn't The Adventure supposedly leaked via PSP files from Rock Band: Unplugged? Why do we not have it (or the accompanying Green Day songs) yet?

I really hate to say it, but Band Hero's setlist is (in my eyes) better than LEGO: Rock Band. I even like the DS Version more (even though it's a ton of RB repeats, but they are still better than a majority of the LEGO: Rock Band setlist).

Edit: I also noticed that the export for Band Hero, for about 24 more songs, is four bucks cheaper than Lego: Rock Band's export. HILARIOUS!

Goatbuster
10-19-2009, 11:45 PM
Well, Neversoft will just ruin Band Hero, so no matter how good the setlist is (which it even isn't), the game would be ruined by the atrocious charting and gameplay. LEGO: RB is awesome until it hits the 00's, then it's REALLY hit or miss.

"Like Whoa" by Aly and AJ,
"Mr. Roboto" by Styx, and
"So Yesterday" by Hilary Duff.

Anyone care to begin guessing the review scores for the two games?

I believe that they're both going to average out at about 7.5 each.

Band Hero:
+ Mostly exportable setlist for cheaper price than Lego: Rock Band
+ Import other tracks into the game
+ Continued tradition of mo-capping celebrities
+/- Plays nicely on recycled GH5 engine
+/- More of the same
- Re-skinned GH5
- Not all songs export (I want Mr. Roboto, dammit!)
- May be too easy for hardcore fans of the series

Lego: Rock Band (Pros):
+ Completely new experience (in Lego form!)
+ Fully exportable tracklist
+ David Bowie and Iggy Pop as mini-figs? Oh, Blur and Brian May too? Awesome!
+ Different themes for each song keeps the game interesting and unique
+ You can use (most) of your DLC from past games
+ Challenges up the replay value a tad bit
+ Fantastic customization options
- No online play? Really?
- Export cost to HD is more expensive than Band Hero's, yet you get less songs. LOLQUE?
- Fact that you're playing a Lego game may detract from your feelings of being a rockstar

You're just saying that because Lego: Rock Band has more pros listed than Band Hero does.

It equals out though, being that the Lego: Rock Band cons are more lethal to the score than Band Hero's are.

After removing all the songs that are either duplicated in Lego Rock Band or already appear in Mainstream Rock Band download content, there are only fifteen songs that I like and only five of those (YMCA, Mr. Roboto, Love Is A Battlefield, Whip It and In a Big Country) are songs that I REALLY couldn't live without.

Ignoring all of the songs that I already have in Mainstream Rock Band, going just purely by what appears in Lego, there are only thirteen songs that I like - so at first glance, Band Hero wins. Ah - but there are seven must have songs and four "I will kill any three people the devs want to get them" songs in the list. Frankly Ghostbusters and Queen alone trumps all.

Plus any game that gets me more Spinal Tap is instant win!

$49.99 MSRP for Wii, $59.99 on 360/PS3. Band bundles for all 3 consoles are $169, I think.

LEGO is on the Rock Band engine, but also bringing in unique elements based around the LEGO license.

Band Hero is Guitar Hero 5 with a purple hue.

Nobody accused LEGO of "dumbing down" Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Batman, Harry Potter or any other licensed franchises.

"Cutifying" =/= "dumbing down."

I'd definitely like to take some of the Band Hero songs and replace some of the LEGO Rock Band songs, but I'll deal. Queen in LEGO form >>>> All of GH's "Guest performers" combined. Anybody else find it awesome that in the Blur video, the guitarist is playing an RB2 strat in-game...So freaking cool!

From a pure setlist and assuming I had no DLC, Band Hero has a vastly superior setlist. VASTLY.

However, I have lots of those cool songs already and I have a suspicion that it would be charted poorly (like every other Guitar Hero I played past 2) making it not fun no matter what the songs are. Also, I have a huge RB library of songs and no GH library of songs so it doesn't make much sense for me to get GH.

I'll pick up Lego Rock Band because thankfully it transfers and I might play it to get the trophies but beyond that...meh.

Damn! Sugar, We're Going Down on Band Hero? Oh well, it'll just be a download for RB2 later on. Can't wait to sing Thunder on Lego Rock Band. Of course, i'll just spend 7 bucks on renting then another 5 on exporting all the songs. Thank you Hollywood/Blockbuster!

Already have some of the songs from BH, dont care for taylor swift or hillary duff.
I wouldnt say BH has a VASTLY better setlist either IMO.
One thing LRB has that wins this all the way around is EXPORTABILITY!!!!!!!!!
so I say WIN for LRB and lose for band hero, besides that there games suck anymore. The last two GH:SH and GH:5 sucked

Band Hero is exportable on ALL consoles. Lego Rock Band is not. ;)

Looking at the BH list, I see two songs in the OMG MUST HAVE category, compared to 5-6 for LRB. That's just me though... and is probably affected by knowing that I actually can have the LRB songs. :)

It would be another $10 to export the songs.

So Band Hero is exportable for 61 of the 65 songs... i think i might just pick it up for sure now, i like a good few of the less poppy songs on there and as the non-exporters are the disney stablemates its actually looking a good deal.

Both great setlists and both likely good games - im going to have to be honest in saying for all not much of the setlist was released for Band Hero at the time i was more looking forward to that then any info that was filtering through on GH5 (which as expected was crap)

So dumbing down the characters to legos is cool now?
Sales of LEGO titles to date would indicate this is the case.

Not that I'd call it "dumbing down" as much as I would call it "having some fun with the franchise".

It's fun to see stories such as Batman and Star Wars poke a little fun at themselves once in a while, which is what LEGO is really good at doing.

I don't see why ROCK BAND needs this though. Like what does being Lego add to the game, other than the ability to not try as hard when modeling, skinning, and making animations. There aren't any Lego Rockband play sets, and no confirmation of them being planned. I don't see how making it Lego adds to the series at all, other than name value for sales.

It obviously has something to do with young kids getting involved in the game, without having to deal with failing out all the time and without having Mom & Dad shocked by the lyrical content of the PG-13/R-rated fare they're playing.

That's ALWAYS been the whole point of this game --- bringing in the kids 'n' families. Thought everybody knew that by now.

Band Hero because it supports exporting on the Wii. I like the setlist of Lego RB better though but no online, DLC and export kinda breaks it for me.

I just played the demo for Band Hero, and I was actually somewhat impressed.

The visuals (especially the lip synching) are very good, the three songs were decently fun to play, and I liked how when I was playing a song on instruments, and I said "boy, this sounds fun to sing!" and I could stop the instrument and jump on the mic. However, on vocals I could not tell if my pitch was above or below the line I needed it to be at.

I'll play the demo of LEGO: Rock Band and use that as a measure. Pick good songs for it Harmonix, please.

In all honesty, Band Hero's setlist is pretty great for it's market, where as some songs on Lego Rock Band are pretty hit and miss. Exportability is great also, but I like how it runs on the GH5 engine rather than the dreaded GH:WT engine.

I like RB better than GH, and if the play of BH is like GH5, it will take some acclimation, but the setlist looks better. Having said that, I will get LRB for the Brian May and Freddie lego people.
Also, I will make a Mii that looks like Phillip J. Fry to sing "Walking On Sunshine."

Not when the rental stores either don't include the manual, or cut out the code needed to get your export. Or, if you aren't the VERY first person to rent the game and use the code, or if the people working there haven't already taken the code and used it. So if you're trying to be cheap and not pay for the hard work that HMX and TT did to create the game, you rightfully won't get to export the songs. :D

Band hero has Ocean Avenue.. More OK Go, The Adventure, She will be Loved, Paralyzer,... AND HAPPY TOGETHER. Seriously that's awesome. But I'm still planning to buy just Lego since I know Harmonix usually does a better job on rhythm games... But I really hope they put these songs in... I would kill to have Happy Together and Ocean Avenue. I'm glad Lego has older AAR though =]

You've been to them all? I understand that maybe some of them don't, but not all of them. My local Blockbuster disproves your post and most likely the user aboves local store aswell.

Most people are going to just see 45 songs vs. 65 songs. Band Hero is going to sell more and get better reviews since they are basically the same thing. It's not going to be about the game quality or even the songs on the game just the number which will seem to most people to equal more value. I can't really fault that type of thinking, but I expect some GH fans to soon come over talking smack once both games are out.

45 songs -vs- 65 songs can be real easy to solve. I do remember RB2 giving away 20 Free DLC when RB2 hit the store shelves. With that being said if it happens.. it would be 65 -vs- 65 and.. this thread would be for nothing.

Bottom Line buy both games enjoy life. If you can only afford 1 game buy RB Legos and ask Santa for the Other for Christmas. Trust Me... the other company is pumping so many games out so quick that the BARGIN BINS are filling up with plenty of over stock. GH:WT selling for 14.00 used GH:Met selling 19.99 used GH: Aerosmith 9.99 used GH:5 selling 39.99 used

Where as RB2 is still selling at 39.99 used.

The only songs I care about from Band Hero (not on LRB) and hope are released as RB DLC are:

* Counting Crows - "Angels of the Silences"
* Don McLean - "American Pie"
* Marvin Gaye - "I Heard It Through The Grapevine"
* Tonic - "If You Could Only See"

Lego RB doesn't import for Wii, so I might just rent it and then buy it if I like it, but probably not. Band Hero, on the other hand, does import for Wii. So that means I'll go down to the video store and copy the import code off the manual and import it. So basically I'm saying that I won't buy either one. I may get Lego RB next year if it imports into RB3.

So you feel that stealing things is okay and the people who spent countless hours on acquiring the legal rights for the songs and programming the game and charting the tracks don't deserve to be paid at all? God that makes me sick.

Lego Rock Band is actually making a bit of effort to differentiate itself from the main game. If you had Band Hero on one TV and Guitar Hero 5 on another TV with the tint adjusted, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Hey! I have played both Lego Rock Band (360) and Band Hero (Wii) full versions and both are great.

It was to cool to play with the Queen Lego figures, they look cool and the game looks like a RB2 Update, by the way We will rock you is tier 3 on vocals and on the rest of instruments is 0. I played Vocals and it has the RB2 Engine, The lego figures look so cool and the backgrounds too. I couldnīt check all the features because many people wanted to play too.

On the other side, Band Hero offers export on the Wii and supports up to 32 gb SHDC, graphically, a little bit better than GH5, I played vocals and I feel that Nevervision improved them so much compared to GHWT, the setlist is good for kids, but it also has some songs that makes it interest to Adults. It was so funny to watch older people playing YMCA and watching them as if they were kids and it was also cool to look at teenagers and kids with their please adults let us play too faces.

I played both games on the electronic game show event at Mexico City.

Ah thanks for reminding me. I need to redownload the Band Hero and GH5 demos to see if the vocals are actually improved noticeably over GHWT-GHSH.
