Here's a place for WII users to relate their Abbey Road DLC experiences.
Please post here things like:
Availability
Accessibility (what card did you use, did you use internal memory)
Play experience
Purchase methods
Download speed
Playability
Please post both POSITIVE and negative experiences. Please don't just use it to gripe.
Thanks, and looking forward to hearing about downloads once they start later today!

As for now, it's not available in europe. But i'm used to that, nearly no GH DLC was available at the date it was announced.

I'm at work right now and won't get the songs until tonight, but can someone verify - if I want to download everything it'll be 1950 Wii Points? (or did I add something in twice?)
And Beatles is SDHC supported right? (My RB2 SD card is pretty full, not sure how many of the Queen tracks I'll be able to get today - LOL)

if you download songs onto your SD card, can u transfer them into another SD card in case i needed a higher capacity card? I wont be using it to play on other consoles- not that it'll work anyway.

Great questions. If no one else answers, I can at least try out the file transfer, from one card to another.

Is it true that the Wii version of Abbey Road will be missing "Her Majesty" and the 16 minute Abbey Road B-Side Medley?
If so, can anyone from Harmonix say why, and if this will be fixed?
I've rented the game before, and like it, but a purchase would rely on the Wii version getting the same everything in terms of DLC as the the other versions (not counting "All You Need Is Love"). I only own a Wii and have no interest in buying a 360 or PS3, but I detest when companie shaft Wii owners for no reason whatsoever.

I've downloaded the DLC for Wii, and unless I am doing something wrong, you cannot play the entire B-side uninterrupted. All the songs, including Her Majesty are available, cam in around 11am EST, but you have to d/l them individually and there is no "B-side" d/l. Some of the songs are grouped so you can play a group of two or three uninterrupted, but for the entire thing, you have to wait in between songs on your playlist...still fun, just a little disappointing.
If I am wrong about this someone please inform on how to do it.

Just got the entire DLC. I don't understand why its more expensive on the Wii than the other consoles but i paid the extra couple bucks. Cant wait for more content!!
I also didn't like that i couldn't download the whole album i had to go through each song. WTF is the deal with that? The content finally got around to me around 10:30 Central time.

I'm sure this is another disappointment with Wii, not being able to play the medley. Though I agree with Savird, it's still fun and yes it was 1950.

Songs are up for download now. Prices:
Maxwell's Silver Hammer: 200
Oh! Darling: 200
Because: 200
You Never Give Me Your Money: 200
Sun King/Mean Mr. Mustard: 350
Polythene Pam/She Came In Through The Bathroom Window: 350
Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End: 350
Her Majesty: 100
Total cost: 1950 Wii Points ($19.50)
How does this cost compare with the offerings on other consoles? Is it confirmed that if one downloads the medley songs (YNGMYM for 200 + the 3 for 350 each), Wii cannot play through them as a single song? (I'm unwilling to spend money trying it....)

I haven't been on here in a long time, but once I had the DLC I wanted to here what others were thinking about Abbey Road, and I'll chime in with my two cents.
Availability
I arrived home from the mall to pick up my SDHC card around 11:30am and when I went onto the music store it was already there, so between 10:30 and 11:30am EST it must have came up.
Accessibility
I used an 8gb SDHC card that I bought from the mall today, and it works perfectly. I didn't use the internal memory, because I'm gonna be downloading all the album DLCs and need a lot of room. I even found out that all this time I had a SD card in there, but it was the 2gb SD card for my camera that I left in there. The only thing that ticks me off is that the card icon blinks and it takes longer for the songs on the card to load. The one thing that's really driving me nuts is when I go onto the song to hear the snippet, it comes up with the DLC album picture, and takes 5-10 seconds for the Abbey Road album to appear with the song. Does anybody else have this problem? That's only a minor gripe, though, especially compared to the medley.
Play experience
It was wicked fun! :D No surprise there. Songs like Maxwell's Silver Hammer and Because completely blow my mind (sorry I had to). And I just love Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End as a great finally (Her Majesty just sorts of ruins the end every time I listen to it as a whole, because it's kind of anti-climatic I guess). Those three together are perfect, and I thank them for not separating them, so I could "feel" like I'm playing the medley at parts. It would have been neat to be able to play them all individually (and show up as individual songs, meaning no duplicate The End) and be able to play the sections you want (like in practice mode) through the setlist feature, except have them automatically linked. Eh, I guess that's too much to ask. And I was failing on vocals with Oh! Darling, I just could not keep up. :o But that's what I love about the game, it motivates you to actually get better. I also love that since it just came out, I'm 7th on the leaderboards on most songs, instead of 10,999th. :D
Purchase methods
I bought a Wii Points Card for $20, and was able to buy the whole album on that, with a little more points left over.
Download speed
The download was really fast, I was surprised each song was not slow at all. Then again, it would have been easier to just put them all on a queue and download them all at once as in GH5 (since wii can't have duplicates, and that way we could have gotten the medley). The only problem is it takes long for the game to recognize the song on the card, as stated above.
Playability
I'm not sure what that means, or how that's different then play experience. Although, I'd like to note that on Maxwell's Silver Hammer, when the notes are first appearing, their all hazy or fuzzy, until they get to the middle of the thing. Does anybody else have that happening to them?
Overall, I'm excited, but disappointed at the same time. I just wish the whole medley could be downloaded as an actual song, or automatically be able to download it if they went with the queue system, like in GH5. Other than the medley situation, I'm pretty satisfied. These are maybe gonna hold me over until November 10th, when I get the Beatles remasters; just maybe. ;)
ETA:

It's much more expensive than the other consoles, and we don't get to play the medley. Both problems fine on their own, but together just doesn't make sense. If we don't get to play the medley, then we should pay less than the other systems, in my opinion, not more. It's so frustrating waiting between songs (three times).

Oh haha good, I'm glad it wasn't a problem. It just made me wonder, because they rarely affect the actual playing thing, only the background (then again, this is my first rock band game). Not a problem anymore, now that I know it's intentional. Thanks. :)

I can't remember at the moment. I checked back at the music store, but the only way I can find out how many blocks each song takes is by hitting Download Again, and I'm not sure what will happen once I hit that (I don't know if it will automatically download it, or bring me to the confirm screen like last time). Is there another way of finding out?
ETA: Yeah I clicked on it, and it automatically tried downloading it (I stopped it, but I'm not sure if that was a good thing or not). So I'm not sure how I'll find out, but I think you can (If it's available in the store, that is); click on to download the songs and look on the confirmation screen how many blocks there are, without downloading them.

Well, one piece of good news for those near a Walmart.
They're selling a 2 GB SanDisk SD card for $9.96. That's $5-10 cheaper than competitors. Not an SDHC, but a decent piece of hardware for $10 or under.
Thanks, again, to all who're posting their experiences. My wife's going to be driving me like a madwoman to get the card and download the songs!

I don't know how many mb the songs take up, but I went into Wii Options > Data Management > Wii > SD Card, and it says I have 59258 blocks open (I don't know how many blocks were open before I downloaded the album, and it doesn't show the downloads on it). And that's on a 8GB SDHC card. I think a person on the boards said that an 8GB or 16GB should last for the whole album DLCs. I hope my 8gb can handle it (Radioshack didn't have anything higher than 8). I think on the confirmation screen, before you download it, it says how many blocks and maybe also says how many mb each song is, but I'm not sure on the latter.

When I downloaded all the tracks it looked like it came to sightly over 1000 blocks of memory. I still have about 14k blocks left open on my 2 GB card...if they are all about the same size on average I might be able to fit the bulk of the albums on this card (if they ever release more than the initial 3).

I agree, no complaints here, and I hope the UK gets it really soon. (I check after noon 'o clock Central time, 18:00 UK time and it was finally in) but right after I DLed the third song, my wifi decided to throw me off and I can't get back on! people should also realise that the whole medley thing is a limitation of the wii, not something that harmonix did on purpose to screw the wii users over.
there is obviously a max d/l size and they broke the medley up in to the best method to fit those size limits. and the software wouldnt be set up to be able to concatenate (love using that in a sentence) the 4 individual track files into 1 track file.

thats not the point. the point is that you have to play it as if it were one whole song. its the chance to play something heavy and epic. how can it be heavy and epic if you sugar coat it the whole way through?

I have called EA and Nintendo to ask about just what the issue is and if it's something that can be fixed? Nintendo said it's a HMX thing and EA said it's a Nintendo thing and if there is an issue Nintendo will work on it and probably correct it in the near future.
I have not bought a Wii yet but I did buy the Beatles RB bundle and Gretsh guitar controller for the Wii expecting that I would prefer the Wii for other games as well. I haven't opened my bundle or controller and I keep thinking I should just get a PS3 instead?
Since you are all Wii users I'd like to know what you think of the Wii's limitations compared to the games and especially this Beatles game in particular available for the Wii? Would I be better off with a PS3 when thinking in terms of this game? Do you think it's an issue they will actually work on for the future? Considering Sgt. Pepper has several songs closely linked together what will they do with Good Morning Good Morning/Sgt. Pepper Reprise/A Day In The Life?
I am getting leary of the Wii and I haven't bought it yet! LOL

Okay. Good question. I'm a casual game playing, Beatles loving, older Wii-only owner and here's an honest answer:
If you love Nintendo's products and want the added joy of playing a very good version of The Beatles (and RB2), get the Wii. If you want the very best version of The Beatles (and RB2), and don't care about the rest of the Wii library, get the PS3 or a 360.
The Abbey Road medley issue will never arise again: This is a one-time mountain-out-of-a-molehill debate revolving around a unique piece of Beatles music that happens to be nearly 20 minutes long.
I love playing TB:RB on Wii. It's a solid, completely entertaining experience, and the Abbey Road tracks downloaded quickly and perfectly. But, y'see I love playing it on Wii because I don't want to buy another console right now, so I don't mind the bump-down in the graphics (it still looks great) or the lack of the one-chunk medley option.
But if I DID feel like buying a second console, then, yeah, I'd buy the PS3 or 360 version in a heartbeat.
You can't really go wrong, either way. But get the Wii ONLY if you're interested in Nintendo's library. It's by far not the most powerful music game machine.

Same here. I've been checking all day when i had the chance since 7am and its dinner time now and there's no farking Abbey Road! I have complained about this before but this is getting ridiculous. it said it'll be released on the 20th, i accept the time/day difference but the day's gonna be over real soon here, as well as already being 21 October in Europe. Question: Are there only certain brands of SDHC cards that work with the Wii? I tried searching the forums, and googling it, and I didn't find much. Is SanDisk more or less the most popular?
My experience with music games is limited to TB:RB, and I have no experience with DLC. Thus far, I haven't downloaded anything on my Wii apart from the menu updates that it prompts you to do. So yes, I have the latest menu that supports SDHC.
Someone mentioned a 50% off sale at RadioShack for SD & SDHC in an earlier posting. FYI, I just checked their website, the aforementioned sale is going on until Saturday, Oct 24. You can get a SanDisk 4GB SDHC for $15, and a 8GB for $25. That's pretty sweet.
I work nights, so I only briefly had some time to check out the in-game music store before bed, and no time before getting into work at 8pm EDT. I'm off at 6am EDT, although I suppose I'll have to wait a few hours until RadioShack opens.
Just to throw in my 2 cents, I'll agree that it's a bit disappointing that we can't play the entire suite as one long song. I mean, they could have at least mentioned "doesn't apply to Wii" when they said that purchasing the whole album will let you do that. But it's not entirely tragic, and I'm glad that the suite songs are at least in pairs, although I think that Mean Mr Mustard should have been tied to Polythene Pam, but oh well. However, I do think it's total crap that it's more expensive for Wii. I know that $2.50 isn't a lot of money, but it's the principle of the thing. It's another instance where they should have said "doesn't apply to Wii". Where does that money go, anyway? Does Nintendo pocket it?
Anyway, all that being said, I'm pretty excited for Abbey Road, and a little bit more excited for Rubber Soul, and WAY more excited for SPLHCB, which is widely considered the greatest rock album of all time.
On a meaningless side note, why is everyone giving times in EST, CST, MST, and PST? For another few weeks, we're still in Daylight Saving Time, therefore it's EDT, CDT, MDT, or PDT, unless you're in Arizona. Frankly, I can't wait until it's over. I'm in the aviation business and it's a big headache. Dumb idea to begin with.
Sorry, I'm usually long-winded and rambling. To remind you of my original reason for posting, who can tell me about SDHC brands supported by Wii? Thanks!

Any Wii folks gotten their free codes yet? I'm still waiting.
Great. If you go to http://www.tbrb-freedlc.com/gamestop/inactive.html, you'll see the wonderful message:
"Please note:
* Free DLC codes for X360 and PS3 are currently being emailed.
* Free DLC codes for the Wii will be emailed within the next few weeks."
Brilliant. So now if I chose Abbey Road songs for free, I'll have to wait a 'few weeks?'

I have not bought a Wii yet but I did buy the Beatles RB bundle and Gretsh guitar controller for the Wii expecting that I would prefer the Wii for other games as well. I haven't opened my bundle or controller and I keep thinking I should just get a PS3 instead?
I have a Wii. Buy an XBox. Trust me.

Oh god, those of you moaning about not being able to play the whole album in one go, get a grip and shut up! The songs are there, just use the break for excuse for a rest/drink/scratch/stretch/drag-on-a-cig!
You all make it sound like there's something missing, there isn't, it's ALL there, stop ya whinging!
thats not the point. the point is that you have to play it as if it were one whole song. its the chance to play something heavy and epic. how can it be heavy and epic if you sugar coat it the whole way through?
For me, this game is about the RECORDING expirence in the studio, not the LISTENING experience. "Abby Road" wasn't recorded in one sitting and played all the way through. I wish they would make more of the studio chatter available. Maybe even some of the tracks with mistakes in them. :)

For those that have it, how many megs do the songs take up? I am thinking about getting a 16GB SDHC card (the 32 is a bit too much) and want to know how much of that the whole thing will take.
On average the songs are about 200 Blocks and the album was a little over 1000 blocks. I am using a 1GB card and I have all of my downloaded games and game save data on the card. I also have the entire Abbey Road Album and still have about 5000 blocks left. That should be enough for the two upcoming albums as well.
A 16GB card may be over kill...

The songs won't show up there, only VC and Wiiware games you move onto it do. Don't worry, it's on there.
confirmed this morning. Thanks, oMeGa! first thing i did was get the Lefty achievement on "Her Majesty" - LOL! :o

Question: Are there only certain brands of SDHC cards that work with the Wii? I tried searching the forums, and googling it, and I didn't find much. Is SanDisk more or less the most popular?
Any SD Card should work. I use SanDisk unless there is a HUGE price difference between another "reliable" brand. Kingston is my 2nd fave.
Nintendo put a cap on the size of the files that can be downloaded to the wii, probalby because of the limited internal memory. I think the limit is 400 blocks but I can't remember for sure. Files generally download to the internal memory then get transferred to the SD Card. That is why we can't download the whole album like the 360 and PS3. That is also why we can't play the song as a medley.
So, yes it would be cool to play the whole thing all the way through but I am not sure I could make it through a straight 15+ minute track. Some of the Tool songs on GH:WT were killer for me...
I still love my Wii and this is a minor inconvenience.

Thanks for the response. I already have a PS2 and I know I must be showing my age but it's good enough for most games I enjoy, Burnout, Baseball and Lego games. As for graphics, I enjoyed PONG so standard definition works fine for me. Standard definition has actually gotten better since the technology for HD and other digital presentation through video has come along, so the Wii lacking HD was not a problem for me. Don't get me wrong, I totally enjoy the fine graphics of HD but it's not a necessity for gaming to me.
I was never a big fan of Nintendo games until I played the Wii but they also have a back catalog of old Sega games which I truly enjoyed. I just don't have the extra money to buy a Wii which would make my girlfriend happy as well and to buy a PS3 just to be sure to play the Beatles Abbey Road medley straight through. I do think they could have made a slightly different grouping of song tracks for the Wii to make it more like the album. There is a break after She Came in Through the Bathrooom Window and Golden Slumbers I wouldn't mind breaking at that point. I just found it odd to break after Mean Mr. Mustard or wherever it is.
I guess I wanted both worls of fun, the Beatles Rock Band AND the fun interactive Wii games. Considering this issue of a medley won't really come up again, barring a few tracks from Sgt. Pepper which beg to be linked, I don't think it's that big of a deal. I think I can live with it as a set list and hope they address it later due to outcry from fans of the game and band.
My question was sort of from the vein: I haven't yet invested in a game system, am I really making a mistake or is it just down to preferences of game systems of which everyone has an opinion? My nephew has all three systems and says the Wii is probably the most fun for the type of games I enjoy and I suppose he knows me rather well.
Thanks for your input! I think I shall buy a Wii but lobby for the release of a proper medley for the Wii or at least a compromise of re-grouping the tracks.

hooray! I just managed to download the tracks onto my Wii's internal memory (no SD card yet). IT went on just fine.
Played the new tracks and loved it! Is it a shame we can't play the whole medley in one? I guess... but it didn't ruin anything for me, it's just great having MORE TRACKS TO CHOOSE FROM in the game. woohoo!!!!

Had great fun with this, finally last night. Word to the wise: $20 is a bit pricey, and future albums probably won't get downloaded. $15, maybe, but $20? The game itself only cost a bit more than double that...

I can't say I'm surprised. As an Nintendo owner for many years, it always seemed liked we were getting the short end of the stick with third party materiel. This is no exception. I am a fan and have been looking forward to playing the medley straight through since I first heard about it when the game was being released. This download was very disappointing because the Xbox had the option to play the medley as one long song. Why isn't the Wii download offered the same option? I still downloaded all the available tracks because I want to play them, but I want them available as one track. So Harmonix please do me favor and make the medley available as one track on all the systems. What's the worst that could happen, you make more money?

Much of it apparently has to do with Wii policy.
The Wii has a cap on file sizes for downloads, according to sites like IGN and Gamespot. So, the medley, being 20 or so minutes long (?) goes over that.
Then it becomes a technical issue on the game software being able to play one track after another. But, again, the Wii has only 512 MB of internal memory, hasn't it? So that limits what can be loaded in without accessing the Disk or the SD card.
The biggest issue is that Nintendo isn't going to admit to anything, and publishers are s*** scared to admit things Nintendo wouldn't like publicised. So, we just have to be happy. Hey, the other consoles have to download entire files they may not like... so we all get the screw in some form.

Do the other systems get just the entire medley or do the get the medley and the tracks split like the Wii ones?

They can play it entire, or split into 2-3 tracks.

I used to be a Wii only owner, but i'm getting a 360 soon because of TB:RB. I wanted to get one for a long time, but it was the fact that Wii owners couldn't play the entire medley that made me get TB:RB for the 360.

Kmart also has a 2G for 8.99. I picked up their 4G for 12.99 though. Better deal for me since I plan to buy all the albums. Also, with the notes on Maxwell...anyone else think it's odd that when you play with more than one person only the person to the far right's notes get affected? Or is this just me?

Hey all - I've noticed that a lot of you are asking questions about the medley and the make up of the album in the store. Here's an answer that will hopefully clear things up a bit. Currently the nintendo wii does not support the downloading of “packed content”, nor files the size that Abbey Road’s medley would be.
You can, of course, still download all of the tracks individually and play through them in the game.
As for codes, you'll see HMXHenry's post in a few other threads that explains that those are handled exclusively by the retailer. You can email help@gamestop.com for assistance and clarifications.

Thanks for your help - you guys are great for all the info you post here too

Have you checked the Abbey Road area under album sorting for the songs? If they're not there, I would redownload them (you don't have to pay to redownload the songs you've already purchased) and see if they're there. Also, be sure you have enough space on your console and/or SD Card.

Geez, I didn't think that being able to play the continuous 16 minute Abbey Road Medley was a make or break of which console to own for some people, It would be cool to play it but since Wii owners can't then no big deal. The important thing is that the tracks that were originally composed/performed together such as Sun King/Mean Mr. Mustard and most importantly Golden Slumbers/Carry that Weight/The End are kept as a gapless track instead of seperate songs as many people speculated the Wii version would have. I'm happy with my purchase of the Abbey Road songs and it really shouldn't be a "ZOMG NOT BEING ABLE TO PLAY THE MEDLEY ON WII IS STUPID, I'M GONNA BUY A 360 INSTEAD." just shrug it off and enjoy the great songs HMX put out with care for all console owners to enjoy.

My posting was simply about the fact I bought TB: RB for the Wii but I don't have a game system. So my issue wasn't about complaining I had the wrong system but rather should I buy the Wii or PS 3? Is the Wii version close enough to xbox and ps3 that with the exception of no medley I won't notice any real differences? Or am I doing myself a disservice by not buying a different game system and Beatles RB bundle before the limited edition sells out?
In the end the medley sounds fun but the rest of their songs from Please Please Me to Let it Be will easily fit even if they have to shrink Hey Jude by ten seconds fading early? My investment in the bundle is the same no matter what. I am only thinking of other games I'd like to play on a system and Wii has such a fun experience fir sports games and others it's tough to resist. If I exchange the Wii bundle for a PS3 bundle I'd have to wait some time to justify a Wii as well as the ps3. LOL

Since I know you guys are playing TB:RB on the Wii I thought I'd ask here as you probably know the answers to these two questions.
If you have USB mics fof PS3 made by Logitech will they work for Wii?
What kinds of memory cards will work without modifying the Wii so I can buy one card and be ready to gather all DLC for TB:RB onto one card when they probably will have all their songs (or most) made available in the future for the platform? This way I can use one card for all the tracks and not have to change cards to play certain songs. This assumes you can't change memory cards while the game is loaded and have them be recognized properly.
I have the Limited Edition Wii bundle but I have not yet bought the Wii. I didn't want to miss out on the Hofner bass but they took a large chunk of money from me for those new CDs. And yes, I am now settled on the fact that although the medley won't play properly in one stream, it's ok because they have a couple hundred songs eventually for the game and it's not the only game I'll use the system for.
Thanks for any help on my questions!

A PS3 mic should work for the wii. I believe all logitech mics are cross-platform compatible, but don't quote me on that.
Any SD or SDHC card will do. I'd get an 4gb or 8gb if you want all DLC songs, just in case they possibly release the whole catalogue (hey, it's still a possibility). I got an 8gb SDHC card for my wii, and it works perfectly. The only downer is that, since I'm switching to a Xbox or PS3 version of the game, I'll have a $30 memory card I don't need anymore. And as a side note, I have actually taken the card out while it was in the song list (to see how many gb it was a while ago) and all it does is say something to the affect of "refreshing song list as memory card is not recognized" or something of that matter. Not an important tidbit, but it may be interesting.
I hope you get to play the game soon, it's really awesome, no matter what platform your on. :)

I dont see why anyone would need more than a 4GB card for this. I bought an 8GB and I still have 60,000 blocks left after downloading all the DLC. All of Abbey road took about 1,300 blocks. They would have to release every album, all the singles, the anthology, live at the bbc and some solo material to fill it all. It ain't going to happen.

Yeah, but I wanted to be careful. I didn't know how much a song takes up, and thought an 8gb would suffice (16gb would have been an overkill, I agree... I'll fix my post).

Been doing the same...lol, first time I just chose the full Abbey Road album and accidently played The End twice.
It's a bummer it's not more fluid, plus I have it on a cheap SD card with slow load times (which I will be fixing). On the plus side, it leaves some room to have some shots during the medley...YAY..

SDHC 8 GB or 16 GB would do the trick perfectly. If you want a lot more space, I would go the max and do 32 GB.

It's about the same graphics on my end. If your comparing to the PS3 and Xbox though, of course, the game itself has lower graphics compared to the other systems.
