View Full Version : Huge Screw-Up By EA

I posted this a few days ago but I searched up and down the forums and the thread isn't here. I'm guessing it was wiped by the new update to the forums or something.

Either way, EA screwed me big time. I've been expecting my new guitar and new drums for over a month and they finally arrived earlier this week. When I opened up my drum box, instead of seeing a new set of drums, all I saw was empty box. They sent me a replacement box with instructions to send my drums back, not my actual new set of drums even though I sent out my drums a long time ago.

Not only that, but upon testing my new guitar I found that the whammy bar doesn't work, the Overdrive does not activate, and the fret buttons are extremely loose. I've contacted EA Support but it's been 4-5 days and I have yet to hear back from them, when in previous cases it's taken 2 days at the most. I figured I'd post here and try and get some info from any of the EA mods or someone, because this really pisses me off. I'd really like some sort of answer.

Thanks.

Good luck, I have been going through the same thing. Worst customer service ever. Hey EA, get some people that speak english. I live in a city with some pretty severe accents, and I can hardly understand these techs. I know they are cheap, but at $170 a bundle, I would expect a quality product or tech support that speaks english and tells the truth. Guess that's a little to much to ask for.

So far, I've been talking to people that speak English quite well on the phone. Most have been very friendly. That's about where my praise for EA stops, though. They must have some utter morons working in the warehouse, and that's putting it nicely.

RMA'ed my drums with a bum green pad on 11/28. UPS says EA received said drums on 12/6. Well, the first set of drum pads apparently got lost in the shuffle. After seeing "billing information received" along with "complete" next to my RMA, I decided to give them a call. Turns out no one could tell me what was up with the drums. So, they sent me a new set.....only the e-mail I got said they were sending a PEDAL. So, I called back. They said "Okay, we'll send you out the pads, but keep the pedal just in case." I figure "Cool! Double bass time!" Then I get the pedal....or rather the EMPTY BOX that was supposed to be a pedal. Next day we get the drum pads, but I still have no pedal. See, they forgot to include instructions in the return box, and since there was a cut out in the box for the pedal I ASSumed they wanted me to send that back, too. I didn't wanna get tagged for $125 for a friggin pedal, so I sent it back. Now, with my new drums I finally get the instructions that should have come with the empty box. The ones that say "do not send your pedal" in big bold letters. Yeah, thanks EA. That was about 2 weeks too late. So, I call them back to get another pedal sent out. It's been over 2 weeks since they RECEIVED my broken drums, and I still can't play. So, I check the website today which is two days after they RMAed the pedal. Guess what? "Billing info received" and "complete" for the RMA. Great, here we go again....

Basically, I'm giving it until Monday. If I don't see anything on UPS's website over the weekend, I'm gonna come unglued on a supervisor on the phone. There's really no excuse for this from a multi-billion dollar game company. I can get 2 high school drop outs to operate a shipping business better....

Good to see I'm not the only one having a nightmarish time with this.

I bought Rock Band for the PS3 on Thanksgiving morning. Neither the drums nor the guitar worked out of the box. After a week and a half I got the drums (nice express shipping, eh?) I then RMA'd the guitar with standard replacement. Instead of an empty box I was sent an XBox 360 guitar. I called EA and they said that they were sending me the PS3 guitar express and that I should send back the XBOX guitar with a note saying that they sent the wrong item. I asked them how I was supposed to return the original guitar from the set and he said to just keep it. A week later, my guitar arrived and did not work out of the box. The strum bar was not properly installed. I called again and they once again said that they were sending out a new guitar express and that I could just keep the broken guitar that they sent to me. That is scheduled to arrive 12/24 according to UPS's website which means I waited a month and two days to play the guitar version of the game. This morning I decided to take the guitar apart and try to fix it. I was able to do so and will be Rocking two player guitar and bass very quickly. I am going to try and fix the first guitar as well.

Both times that I had problems, my call was escalated to a customer service supervisor. Surprisingly, I got the same gentleman, who was very helpful. He is the only reason I have not blown a gasket yet. However, if this guitar doesn't work on Monday, I will be demanding some sort of "extra" to make up for the issues I have had.

And to think I ordered a replacement today...

From what I read, I'm in for a real fun ride.

Almost 10 minutes after I filed for a replacement guitar, I messed with the calibration, which made the guitar almost work, but was so drasticly better that I called tech support to see if I should keep mine or what. I spoke to someone who was very kind and spoke very clear english, who told me that the order couldn't be canceled, so I should wait until the guitar shows up, and either refuse to take it from UPS, or play with it, see which works better, and send the other back. Later in the day, the fret buttons randomly wouldn't register, or when they did it was a very rapid flickering off and on. It would then work again for a while, then have another fit and so on. I very much intend to keep the new guitar and send the old one back, I'm just worried about whether or not I will recieve the guitar any time soon, and if it will work.

I do have the 360 version so I've contemplated getting GH3 so I can use the guitar, although I already have GH3 on the Wii. My wife however doesn't like the idea so much.

So none of the EA mods can help?

Today was a good day. My 2nd 360 got back from being repaired. Got to thinking wouldn't be awesome if my guitar got back from EA today too. And bam an hour later its at my door. Sweet! Except one thing....its the same as when i sent it to them, overdrive don't work, whammy's whammied, except on this one the frets stick. WOOT EA!! meh whatever
