View Full Version : Snapped Strum Bar Spring

A while ago the spring that governs the strum bar to my Rock Band guitar controller snapped in half, rendering the strum bar itself rather limp and unusable.

I took one half of the spring, stretched it out, re-inserted it, and it worked fine for a while. Then that spring snapped, and I repeated the process.

As you might imagine, this process could not continue forever, and I fear when it snaps again I will not be able to fix it, so I began to search for a replacement. I have also searched a similarly sized spring, but so far nothing has fit properly.

The only information regarding any sort of replacement or repair I have been able to find repeats a "60 Day Warranty" policy like a parrot and nothing else.

Buying a new controller seems to be an unreasonably harsh solution, as it seems vendors only sell wireless (e.g. more expensive) controllers at exorbitant prices ($70+).

The actual brunt of my question is three-fold, and (what I fear to be) decreasingly auspicious:

1) Is there a well known, community sponsored replacement part (spring) vendor somewhere on the internet?

2) Does EA have a repair/replacement policy for parts well past the 60 day warranty?

3) Is there a way to buy a non-wireless controller without buying a game bundle?

Check the MaxAxxe strum replacement out. I believe they replace the whole strum mechanism. It's well known on the forums and used by lot's of folks here.
