Was getting the UK value edition for PS3 but see HMV has reduced all the packages and now the limited edition for PS3 is £120 so am tempted to push the boat out (value was £100) and get this

So is the UK PS3. Limited edtion have RB2 instruments? And is the limited edtion instruments that much better than value edition? Oh. And are the PS3 instruments wireless, I expect the guitar is but are the drums?

I don't have any RB or guitar instruments yet for PS3 so want them to be decent and compatible with future games etc

why do you think the packages have dropped so soon? Is it only for w/end or permanent? Seems to have dropped not long after release

cheers

The Value Bundle comes with Rockband Instruments. (IE: Rockband 1, not RB2 - For PS3 its a Wireless Strat but corded drums and no cymbal expandability)

The Limited Edition Bundle Comes with Rockband 2 drums with the Ringo Starr treatment & nifty RB2 pedal with a beatles logo. Also is a Hofner Bass controller which is at heart a longer necked, violin body RB2 controller including auto-cal funtions.

Extras in the LE bundle include a Mic Stand & A Beatles Fake Kick Drum Head as well as some postcards of some of the dreamscapes.

This is of course all based on the US releases.

Ah what the heck, I checked the HMV site and everything I said is spot on.

Are the limited edition bundle drums wireless then? Are you able to connect a cymbal as I believe you can't with RB1 drums.

Are all the limited bundle instruments better quality than RB1s then, and also worth the extra £40 than value edition?

Yes.

Not sure, but I suppose that you can.

You bet. But that doesn't mean that the RB1 option is bad, if you can't afford the Limited Edition, the Value Edition is very acceptable.

Yes you can connect cymbals to the TB:RB drumsets. My 360 kit has the ports on the back. I'd say get the Limited Edition, drums are much improved as is the guitar (I hate the RB1 strumbar...too much travel) that and voxtaring is great fun :D

They are.

It is worth it just based on that and if you are a Beatles Fan, its double worth it.

It is worth noting that the Hofner Bass controller is considerably longer in reach to the frets than the RB1 & 2 Strats so if you are a height challeneged bloke this may cause some discontent.

If you are full size then you will enjoy the fuller size of the Hofner.

Not to mention that if you use the Hofner while singing and playing bass it makes you sing Pauls parts better. Dunno why... it just does... might me a placebo effect... probably is.... ;)

great so, all instruments wireless, (apart from mic), and better quality than RB1/Value edition :D

I am vertically unchallenged at 6' so hope this is ok, although, I was hoping my young kids 6 & 9 could play it too? is that not the case?

I am talking specific UK PS3 by the way, I know a lot of US is o here, and not much info on UK, as I was asking about Value edition before in another thread.

I thought the Value edition was worth the £100 asking for full set of instruments, but now the limited is £20 more than I was willing to pay anyway, and tempted with this...

I'm wondering why they seem to have had a cut in proce so quick, ie £60 off limited and £30 off value edition? (in UK anyway)

Kids will have no problem with the Hofner. They can always use the solo buttons if the main frets are a stretch.

My guess on the discount is that its not selling as well there as it is in the US and they want to get all them sold ASAP but thats just a WAG.

It would be like Rockband: Hasselhoff.

They would have to discount it right away in the US but it would sell for double retail in Germany.

;)

Different strokes... as they say.

All real Rockband Guitars have a set of Frets up by the headstock as well as a set of buttons near the body so there are 2 sets of 5 buttons. 10 buttons total on the neck.

You can use either set during any part of the game play and you can finger tap on the lower sets during a guitar solo.

You can get a good look at the spacing differences in the beginning of this video:

And here is a great pic that BriGuy took showing the size differences of the Rockband Strat, The Hofner and the Gretsch.

cheers, I ordered it!! :)

I bought the limited edition, really glad I waited now, the instruments look better quality, get Mic stand etc, and drums are wireless compared to Value edition (PS3)

Was getting the value edition for £100, so the limited now at £120 is not bad?

Just hope the posties hold out for a week, and not walk out again?!?

Yes thats what I would think. I know its supposed to be limited edition but as you say that wouldnt make the price fall. Im a bit confused why its been reduced in the build up to Xmas to. I shouldnt really be getting it untill end of Nov but bought it now incase the deal finishes

My 7 and 9 year old Grandkids have no problem with the reach on the Hofner, and they are about average size.

As for the price drop, I was in a Best Buy yesterday (big home electronics retail chain in the US) shopping for the Rickenbacker guitar (they didn't have either Beatles guitar in stock!) and they had 2 PS3 and one Xbox LE sets left, marked down $20. ($229. from $249.) Sales person said those were the last of their inventory and were marked to get them out the door. He said sales on all versions of the LE sets had been great, but now shelf space is needed for stock as the gear up for Christmas. I also speculated that if the LE sets could be re-ordered (as in more were being made), the price wouldn't have dropped.

Thanks for asking interesting... So what did he say about reordering could you once sold out? Suppose the boxes for them are massive and will take up a lot of space

He said they aren't available to re-order, so that's why they weren't keeping them on the shelf. Might as well use the shelf space for items. The shelves that where they had been are now stocked with RB2 and GH bundles. However, I'll take his word with a grain of salt. Somewhere, I read where one of the company execs said that the bundles were selling well, and although they would probably be gone before Dec., they should still be available into Nov. So perhaps BB just didn't want to re-stock them.

However, during my shopping trip, I did notice that there were very few, if any, of the LE bundles in any of the stores I went to. Plenty of the Value Bundles, but I think sale of those have dropped big time, as word that the controllers are only RB1 items has more known.

And yeah, the bundle box is pretty good size. It measures roughly 33"L x 20"W x 8" deep.
