Is my dongle broken?

So I just bought RB2 unfortunately my dongle for my Guitar won't come on at all:( I've tried plugging it in other USB slots but the light won't come on at all (it did when I first plugged it in but then stopped). If it is, is there a way I can order a new one? I really don't want to have to package everything up just for a new dongle.

Welcome to the Rockband Forums.

If the red LED on the dongle does not light up at all and you tried it in all the USB slots then its likely the dongle is bad. (Assuming other corded accessories work fine in those USB ports)

You can also test the dongle in your PC's USB port. If its good it will load a driver and the light will flash.

If its bad, nothing will likely happen.

If it does seem bad, call EA and see if they can dongle you.

If you just want to buy another one, people do sell them on eBay, just make sure its a GRAY Rockband 2 Guitar Dongle, not a BLACK RB1 Dongles as they are NOT interchangable.

You didn't state what console you are using. But..... did you

(1) Make sure you have started RB and are on the RB Main Menu before turning on the equipment (really, REALLY, the key for Wii)

(2) Make sure that the controller is showing as controller 1-4?

If in any of these situations the dongle light doesn't come on, then it may be bad.

Hmm...That's strange because it does work. I have thje PS3 version. What I did was I took it back to wal mart and they simply took out the Guitar dongle from another one of the sets (which was black) and exchanged it.

Actually, looking at the RB 1 & 2 Guitars I think the RB 1 Guitar when I bought RB 2.

However, only the black receiver works so what's the deal?

So your Strat does not have a little clear lens just above the Start Button? Thats where the Auto-Cal lens should be and if its not, its an RB1 Strat.

The Bundled RB2 Strats did not have the sunburst body, just black but they do have the pseudo-wood fretboards and the AutoCal lens.

If it does have Auto Calibration lens then what you have there is a RB2 strat for the PS3 that I have never seen and it would blow my mind.
