Regardless, to answer your question...they are random. The wife and I have been through the solo tour on both drums and guitar and our NPC band mates were different. During the tour, they changed up on me all the time. Of course, that's on the 360...PS2 may be different.

on the ps2 version they match up the band you play as with the genre of the song your playing

ex: if u play an emo song , you get an emo band
(lots of black and emo haircuts)

if you play a punk song , you would get a punk band
(spiky hair, other stuff that looks generally punk)

if you played a hippie song you'd get a bunch of hippies
( lol )

well i dono i dont own the game (yet) ive only played it with my friends and told you off of what ive played and noticed i cant list ever single song and genre
