Id rather pay and get good music then get free crap id never play anyways...sorry but GH3 DLC has been a joke.

I expect more of the same for GH 4 and the rest of the GH 3 DLC.

HMX ROCKS!!!

I just want some good music this Christmas, hopefully Rock Band does not disappoint. I like that GH III is releasing free music, that is nice and all but I would never download it if it wasn't free.

I have to agree with that, actually. I'd figured I would at least go download the free GH3 Christmas song--I mean, it was one of my favorite Christmas carols, and it was by the same guy that did Devil Went Down to Georgia in GH3, so I figured it would probably be awesome. But...I watched it on Youtube, and IMO both the song and the chart kind of...sucked.

But yeah, more on topic, free DLC as a Christmas gift from HMX would be nice.

Okay, I'll admit that I really liked the free Halo theme..but I'm sure Bungie coulda just helped them with that for free advertising or something so that it came out free. Otherwise the other song... meh. Even the DLC so far for the most part for me for GH is still meh. Least Rock Band since I've gotten it, I've enjoyed every song I've played so far to some degree. (Well... Until the hills song on drums.. geezus) :P

I'd rather pay a bit more for good songs I'll enjoy playing as well. If harmonix decides to give us a give so be it, but unless GH starts releasing REALLY good free stuff steadily (which I doubt) i'm not gonna complain much.

yeah if they released anything free it'd be cool but i think holiday music would kind of suck, i wouldn't really want to play it any other time besides during christmas time, so for the other 360 and change days of the year it would just take up space

I also want something free just to play something new. You can always delete songs anyway if you dont like them right?

And I also want some good songs even if i have to play. So far only the Metallica Pack has interested me. I've watched all the other songs on youtube and they looked boring as hell.

They need to put some Trans-Siberian Orchestra up for free download. That would be awesome.

I sigh, outloud.

TSO is absolutely amazing, but this is ROCK BAND not Guitar Hero 4.

Putting up songs without vocals would sort of defeat the purpose wouldn't it?

And yes, I know all the arguments for it which can be summed up as

1) (insert your name here) would love it!

and

2) Uhh.. there's those one or two TSO songs where there's some singing

and

3) Well, I mean, you wouldn't have to DL it.

but... as I've said before... if they released accapella vocals only songs, I bet everyone would go nuts with indignation.

Shai, If I Ever Fall In Love, coming soon!

RogerTarin

i wouldn't mind not having vocals in a couple of songs. take for example TSO's Wizards in Winter, there's a lot of sounds you could do by hitting the microphone....

Do you even listen to TSO? I'm guessing not. The vast majority of their songs have vocals. Granted, the ones everyone requests the most (Wizards in Winter, Sarajevo 12-24) don't, but there's WAY more than one or two.

But yeah. I doubt it'll happen, but TSO for Christmas would be awesome.

With regards to free DLC... the saying has never been more acurate when quoted "you get what you pay for."

Also, I really don't think holiday-themed DLC is a worthwhile thing to do considering the other 11 months of the year it will be horribly out of season. Imagine if you will a random BWT setlist pulling "Jingle Bells" or some other random Christmas track in the dead of summer.

the fact that they release DLC every week has me extremely happy, i don't need anything free. Keep up the good work Harmonix. Gh releases free songs because one they are trash, secondly because people are always complaining that gh3 has no dlc so they add some free things to try and make those people who complain about a lack of DLC consistency happy. Rock Band is consistent.

merry christmas to everyone.

well thats true apples but some TSO stuff is just worth playing no matter what time of year!

But xmas is in summer. At least if you live in the southern hemisphere.

That's the same hemisphere that has no access to DLC, unless of course, that DLC was free.

So I say bring on the DLC, it'll make it possible for us RB importers to get a new tune or 2 into our game without having to have an American credit card.

People need to give up the thought of being "given anything" -- Most DLC that comes for free is some form of advertising. The first free DLC for GH3 is a Halo 3 tie-in, and then this second, while not advertising, is obviously a grab at good will--something Activision has been sorely lacking since the game's release. Half the GH3 setlist would need to be free DLC before I'd say the scales started to tip and Harmonix needed to respond in kind. Until then, I'll continue to gladly pay for the DLC that is offered, assuming it keeps on its current track for quality. Regardless of hardware issues, GH3 is an inferior piece of software, and no amount of free DLC is going to change that.

Couldn't have said it better myself mate.

I musta put my credit card details in at least three or four times trying to get a hit. I even thought I'd try telling it I live in Washington since I'm in WA, only a Western Australia kind of WA ;) But no, no luck on that one.

I can buy anything online that I want off Ebay thanks to setups like Paypal, but I can't get DLC off the US Sony network without a valid American address. Go figure.

So yeah, some free DLC would be lovely this time of year :)

I know I'm not the norm, but I think that would still be awesome. I wouldn't mind a little Step Into Christmas in July.

all gh3 dlc should be free.. cause it's all AWFUL.

the fact we get far better DLC EVERY week for cheaper... RB doesnt owe us anything..

would be nice though. but seriously. i'll pay as long they keep the good stuff comin. even if some of it isnt my thing. it's still better than anything gh3 has offered.

Some people will hear that GH3 is offering free DLC songs and then immediately wonder why, oh why, aren't we getting any free DLC songs from Rock Band too. To be honest, this differing concept is what I imagine Activision wants to put in people's heads: there's two free GH3 DLC songs (well, for the 360 at least) and zero free Rock Band DLC songs. Which DLC seems like the better offering?

Of course, we all know the reality is much different. The free "We Three Kings" is mediocre at best (in my opinion), and I don't think I want it anymore after downloading it for free. And the rest of the GH3's DLC is sparse and overpriced compared to Rock Band's DLC. Rock Band's DLC has been cheaper, much more frequent, and has offered a fair amount of depth and variety so far for only 27 songs. If I never see one free DLC song for Rock Band, I'll be just fine with that. If it would end up as throwaway as a free GH3 DLC song, I wouldn't want it to begin with. Better for Harmonix to spend more of their time getting quality songs to us.

So if we don't see a free RB DLC song, don't let that turn you off in the least. It's not all that reasonable to expect much free stuff in the way of licensed songs to begin with. It's certainly possible for Harmonix to give us a free offering here and there (especially given their musically-talented employees), but if the songs you have to pay for stay this good and frequent, free songs shouldn't really be in demand (unless you're young and can't get your parents to pay for DLC, in which case, I hope you age quickly, young one - it's good stuff).
