I think it is similar with the charting in "We Will Rock You". They don't want a long lapse of time, in which the guitarist (in this case) isn't doing anything.

Why is that crazy? They've been doing that since Rock Band 1. The Rock Band drum kit has always been about the orientation of the drummer's hands first. It's not about comfort it's about recreating a realistic drumming experience.
