View Full Version : No PS3 export till 11/12

you can't redeem a code for content that doesn't exist yet.
Would you rather the PSN "eat" your code because the download isn't uploaded yet , then you be unable to even use your code?
the AC/DC track pack worked because they uploaded it prior to releasing. This was delayed for one reason or another, and, thusly, we have to wait for Sony to flip the ON Switch.
It doesn't eat it. Just like with the Pepsi codes if it doesn't work at first it will become usable later. Your PS3 doesn't need physical nourishment, it just needs love and understanding.

The delay was HMX/TT didn't bother sending Sony the files until this past week.
Oh, is that it? Or are you just talking out the side of your neck about a situation that you are wholly unfamiliar with?
I appreciate your frustration, but it's disappointing to see fair weather posters support us when they DLC they like and then immediately assume that we are unfit dullards as soon as something happens that they don't like. We've managed to release DLC consistently for 100+ weeks, so it's safe to say that we're pretty good with meeting deadlines.
Code activation through the site is live, as you have seen, and we've been in touch with Sony to make sure that the content is available in the store as quickly as possible. We want this to be up and running as badly as you do. Thanks so much for your patience and understanding.

Sorry Henry, but after the torture that was the Backspacer incident, I would have thought that HMX would have used the information they gathered from that debacle to prevent it from happening again. Call me a fairweather fan if you want, but I think I have the right to vent my frustrations at something that I expected to be working propely.

The thing is you should have expected it to take a while. Sony's updates are routinly late. Why not just find something to do until it comes up... which it will.

I think that you can vent your frustration without insinuating that HMX/TT are lazy. There's a lot of people working really hard to make sure that you guys get to play and have a good time (e.g. I'm answering emails and posting on the forums at 8pm, but could have gone home 2 hours ago) so assuming that we just "didn't bother" to get the export process in place on time is nothing short of insulting.
Export for LRB doesn't work the same as code redemption for Backspacer, so it's not a 1:1 comparison. There's a lot of moving pieces involved with a code redemption system like this, including parts of Sony's infrastructure in addition to the RockBand.com export page, and it's not as easy as flipping a switch. Once again, we want this available as badly as you do, and hopefully everything should be running shortly.

Code redemption has its ups and downs, but making comments like you have in this thread won't make the process any smoother. All things considered, it's a pretty painless process for a benefit that is very rewarding in the end. Pretty soon you'll be playing the LRB songs in your RB library and all this will be a distant memory.

Well, put it this way. If we didn't give a rat's patootie about this game, there wouldn't be anybody here getting their boxers in a bunch when things don't work out properly. I mean, if this was one of the thousands of games out there that aren't worth the disc they're printed on, the redemption codes not working wouldn't be a big deal at all.

Was the wait for the export key a result of bumping up the release date to compete with Band Hero? If so, then it sounds like you're competing at the cost of the product's quality. Also if there are so many moving pieces and extra difficult work why do it this way for something as simple as DLing data from a disc to a hard drive? You seem to have plenty of excuses but I still havn't heard the real answer as to why such a long delay?

first let me say i support HMX to the fullest over everything from that other music game out there...and will continue to buy your products over that other game...
now...everything you said makes perfect sense...and are perfectly valid reasons for the features not working...
but at the same time there are...lets call them trends in the gaming industry as a whole currently...and those trends effect Rock Band as well...now im not saying there is necessarily a bias towards any certain platform...but lets not be afraid to talk about the 800lb gorilla that is sitting over in the corner....the PS3 seems to always be on the short end of the stick, no matter what that stick happens to be...whether its content hitting early, RBN support, features not working as advertised, patches just never arriving...whatever...
Now, level headed PS3 users will understand things like...MS updates live on tuesdays, Sony does things on Thursdays...no biggie...
users can understand things like albums being available early because of the structure in which MS updates compared to Sony's...no biggie...
users can understand that there might be exclusive content for one console, even though sales of that content go to charity and PS3 users would only create a larger contribution to said charity....no actually...no user should understand this because there should be no such thing as exclusive content when a game is released on multiple platforms and the price is the same...
users can understand that Sony may take a longer time to certify patches and updates, or content than MS does so we might have to wait a week...no biggie...
users can understand that sometimes things are just beyond control and things slip by no matter how hard you try...everyone here has messed up at work, or made a mistake in their life...again...no biggie...
all these things again, are "no biggie" but what happens is over time...when you add up those no biggies is that in the mind of some people they become a single REAL biggie...and whether this is the case or not...it SEEMS that the PS3 version of games are treated as afterthoughts and the continued feedback consisting of..."its not that easy..." "we're working on it..." "you don't understand..." "you can't just flip a switch..." "Sony works a certain way..." just become tiresome and annoying and frankly...sorry excuses for why one version of the game is just plain better than the other...
now, like i said there are valid reasons for all of this happening and im sure there is no deep conspiracy by MHX against the PS3 fed by MS' deep pockets like some would like people to believe...but even as someone who works for HMX you must be able to understand where people are coming from, especially PS3 users...you MUST be able to see that it seems as though the 360 always has the better experience (and we dont even need to talk about the recent CoD MW2 DEBACLE on the PS3 front...trophies not working, MP broken etc...)....
while i understand your frustration Henry that it seems like people are just attacking HMX unfairly for things that are out of your control...at the same time you've got to understand where people are coming from...and to be honest...if you want to fix it...PROVE people wrong....show them the money so to speak...throw the PS3 install base a bone on something...maybe an exclusive track...maybe an early release...maybe a patch to make their game as complete and up to date as the version for the other console...developers say there is no bias, and i believe them...but a lot of people don't...so SHOW them...treat each console equally....
mistakes happen...and everyone can understand that...but mistakes shouldn't happen to the same console...over and over again....
unless..................nah....ill leave it at that....
now all that being said...a Yellowcard 3-pack of DLC next week...and ALL is forgiven on my end!!! :)

This is probably because of all the call of duty problems that sony said they were having with people playing online this week. Their servers probably wernt ready for it. Considering that its now the biggest game ever according to all the sales reports coming out its probably getting all the attention.

I got mine working. I was 1st trying under a sub account & kept getting the error code. I then tried it under the main account name & it worked. So if you're still having problems make sure you're under your main account name.

You can agree all you want, it still doesn't make you right.
But anyway, the export is up now, so enjoy :)
That is really awesome, too bad it doesn't work for me.
By the way, who are you? Never saw you here before until after the ps3 patch was delayed. But now its like you are the only one who answers anything?

Not to worry I had same issue. You dont actually pay for it until you buy it in the lego store. DL the key under your main account then log onto your sub account & purchase it.

My internet code from the slip still doesn't work. I've tried everything. It says: That game code was not found. Please try again. I sent an email to the support team but I'm pretty pissed, as PS3 users we already had to wait an additional 9 days beyond what the 360 users did, to have waited it out and then have a code that doesn't work? I liked Lego Rock Band, but I don't think I'll buy another Rock Band game that wasn't developed by Harmonix. I don't like being lied to.

Glad to see that export is up and running for most people. I'll continue to check in over the course of the day tomorrow to make sure that everyone who has had problems today gets sorted out ASAP. For right now the best thing to do if you're having an issue with your export code is contact support@legorockbandgame.com for more information.

I'm up and running... One quibble... why force a download? I like the RB1 style where I can copy from the disc, or (as when happened when I got the YLOD) if I have to reload then I have the option of a DL or a copy from disc...
But in any event, at least my code worked so I'm glad for that.

After you DL the songs, does the big file appear in your PSN download section? Can it or the key itself be shared?

It's better this way. If you ever need to reinstall, and you happened to have lost or broken your disc or what-have-you, you can just grab it from your download history a'la AC/DC instead of buy a new disc just to re-export.

This works, log in as a different user, use code, get the 100 kb download, sign back in as you, start game, go to store, purchase key for 10 bucks, download, thank me later, bye.
Worked fine when I did this.

I tried to enter my code 10 times and always got the "error". At the 11th try, I finally got my PSN key. I guess there's tons of people overloading the export key feature. Patience is the "key".

Have done that and am now getting the error (80710092) on the PSN.
It gets to the downloading screen, but won't download the 100kb file.

This is such a shambles.
It takes ten minutes for an official to post a statement on these issues.

Since Henry is going to check this thread, I'll just put in here that there are people who still can't get the code from the website to even start this process. We have emailed support. But, how long do you anticipate we'll have to wait for a response. I feel we've waited long enough to do this export on the ps3, and I'd appreciate some serious attention to getting every bug worked out in this process as quickly as possible, not just some PC "be patient" response.
Thanks in advance

hopefully someone will give you info soon.
kudos for asking decently and not going into a tirade.
it does suck that you can't even get the code from the lego export site ... that is strange.

Uh, what? I've been around here for more than 2 years now, as evidenced by my "Join Date" and my post count...and you have directly replied to me in threads before.
What're you talking about?

Wait is there something wrong with the PS3 Lego Rock Band Import Code? I tried the code and it worked the first time. But now I don't know what to do. I don't see the songs in RB2.

That code only got you the export license key. Now you actually have to load up Lego Rock Band, go to the Music Store, and pick the Export Songs option. That will take you to the PSN Store where you'll pay $9.99 and download a 1.2GB file that contains all the songs.

Hey gang, so after talking to Sony it looks like the code redemption process went live on their end at roughly 9:30pm last night. If someone tried to enter the code multiple times before it was live in the PSN it should not invalidate the code, but it may temporarily block access. It sounds like the best solution would be to give it a little time (if you've consistently been trying to enter the code since last night) and the code should be redeemable. If you're still experiencing problems you can contact support@legorockbandgame.com and they should be able to sort you out. I hope that info helps.

Would have been nice if they had spelled this out somewhere.
When they had the cupon to export the RB1 songs, the game was also patched and had an 'export songs' item on the menu when you installed the key.
This time it's hidden in the Music Store section. I don't even go through the music store, I buy the track packs through the Playstation store, the same time I'm browsing through the new games and demos.

Well. It worked seamelessly for me last night. Entered the code, got the redeem code, went to Playstation store, entered the redeem code, went to Lego Rock Band Music store, exported. It took about 40 minutes. Haven't played the songs in RB2 yet.

It's described in the presser. And if I'm not mistaken it's also described when you obtain your code. Not to mention it's been VERY well known since 360 users have been doing it for a week already.

Makes sense. If the code wasn't valid *yet*, then PSN would read any attempt to repeatedly enter invalid codes as somebdoy trying to guess at a code rather than actually entering one.
And given some of the posts I've read, it sounds like several people were just hammering the system over and over again (which would lead to be locked out when it finally did go live)

Unfortunately, it is NOT described fully when you obtain your code. Here's what I got:
PlayStation 3: On the cross media bar (XMB) go to the "PlayStation Network" icon and select "Account Management," then select "Redeem Codes." Enter your token here and select "Continue."
This is only part of what you do. It does not say to go into Lego Rock Band, let alone the Lego Rock Band store (and not the PSN store) to pay the $10 and then get the 1.2GB download. I'm pretty quick with these things and even I was confused...I can only imagine how it must be for some other people.
