Vocal pitch indicator disappears during play

I'm talking about the arrow, circled in red in the picture above. My girlfriend and I were playing BWT mode, I was on hard guitar and she was on hard vocals. Everything was normal. I took a break, so she switched to her solo vocal tour.

As soon as she started a song, the arrow wasn't there. As far as we can tell the game itself was playing correctly, but there was no indicator, and she couldn't score better than a 'messy' on any phrase and failed out constantly.

We switched back to BWT mode, problem persisted. Restarted the PS3 and the problem went away.

The arrow only appears when someone is speaking into the mic...........

I'm aware of that actually. The problem is that the indicator didn't appear at all, over the course of multiple attempts on multiple songs, in solo and in BWT mode.

Oh and we also tried jiggling the mic's USB plug in the PS3 to no success. Like I said, restarting it worked.

I have had this same problem. the arrow is cut in half at the bottom and never moves.

whats up with that????
