Yes, I would call it Rock Band: The Beatles, not the other way around.
On this list, I went for songs I enjoy, not popular tunes. That's not to say there isn't a good helping of the latter, but I left out a bunch of popular tracks I find to be of lesser quality.
I had to extend the tracklisting to fifty songs, as it's just too hard otherwise.
Singles are at the bottom, babes.

Please Please Me, 1963 (3):
"I Saw Her Standing There"
"Boys"
"Twist and Shout"

With the Beatles, 1963 (4):
"It Won't be Long"
"Don't Bother Me"
"I Wanna be Your Man"
"Roll Over Beethoven"

A Hard Day's Night, 1964 (2):
"A Hard Day's Night"
"Can't Buy Me Love"

Beatles for Sale, 1964 (2):
"Eight Days a Week"
"What You're Doing"

Help!, 1965 (5):
"Help!"
"The Night Before"
"You've Got to Hide Your Love Away"
"Ticket to Ride"
"Dizzy Miss Lizzy"

Rubber Soul, 1965 (5):
"Drive My Car"
"Norwegian Wood"
"Think for Yourself"
"The Word"
"Michelle"

Revolver, 1966 (3):
"Taxman"
"Yellow Submarine"
"And Your Bird Can Sing"

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, 1967 (2):
"With a Little Help from My Friends"
"Lovely Rita"

Magical Mystery Tour, 1967 (1):
"Hello, Goodbye"

The White Album, 1968 (5):
"Back in the U.S.S.R."
"Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da"
"Birthday"
"Yer Blues"
"Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey"
"Helter Skelter"

Yellow Submarine, 1969 (1):
"Hey Bulldog"

Abbey Road, 1969 (5):
"Maxwell's Silver Hammer"
"Oh! Darling"
"Octopus' Garden"
"Here Comes the Sun"
"Abbey Road Medley"

Let it Be, 1970 (5):
"Two of Us"
"Dig a Pony"
"I Me Mine"
"Let it Be"
"I've Got a Feeling"

Singles, various (6):
"She Loves You"
"We Can Work it Out"

I stopped reading there.

But really, can you explain why you would want it that way?

Also, you can't have With a Little Help From My Friends without Sgt. Pepper's.

I'm sure Apple Corps wanted the name to be The Beatles: Rock Band.

so what your really saying is... this is my list of top 50 songs I wish the game was..

Rock Band: The Beatles rolls off my tongue much better. My brain always formed the words in that way.

But really, you can't have With a Little Help From My Friends without Sgt. Pepper's.

If I included SPLHCB, I'd have to include SPLHCBR, and that wastes more slots I frankly don't have.
I orginally had both, but there had to be cuts to even make fifty. I could list several songs originally on here that loads of people would say "it's a must", but, frankly, they were cut for a reason.

Um...why would you have to include both Sgt. Pepper's and the Reprise?

So you are looking at this from a "I like to listen to these" perspective?
It must have actually taken a lot of thought of what to include in the actual game, not only due to song popularity but due to the charting of all instruments to attempt a kind of balance. Personally I think what they chose to be a pretty good mix, even though I am not really a fan of early Beatles music as it seems too "up-beat" (for want of a better expression) for the entire group. The music from Sgt. Peppers onwards seems to be where they become more experimental, IMHO.

But everyones tastes are different and your selection is ok :)

Rock Band: The Beatles to me is a mouthful and kind of awkward to say. I didn't like The Beatles: Rock Band title at first, but I grew to really appreciate it. I pronounce it sorta like The Beatles' Rock Band. Maybe you're pronouncing it a little differently?

Also, the main reason they put in The Beatles first is most likely to emphasize that The Beatles are first and Rock Band is second, as opposed to Guitar Hero titles.

The lack of Do You Want To Know a Secret saddens me.

If the medley was on disc, the album would probably sell a lot less.

Why would you have to include both Sgt. Pepper's and the Reprise?

The actual game, now that I've listened to their entire discography, cover to cover, feels odd, because you're introduced to the show, but never told of its ending. I usually play SPLHCB/WALHFMF first, as it makes sense, seeing as you're "starting the show", but you never get a climax to "end the show".
Sgt. Pepper being an album download should, in theory, rectify this, but I'm 95% sure they'll combine the Reprise with A Day in the Life, which means the show hasn't ended.
In other news, I think I have mild obsessive-compulsive disorder.

So you are looking at this from a "I like to listen to these" perspective?

Well, partially. I wouldn't want it to be in the game if I didn't.
But on the other hand, I have to think of how fun each song would be, and what instruments would be highlighted. I can imagine people having great fun with these tunes, but I'm biased, as I love each one.

I say "The Beatles (pause) Rock Band" if I can get the order right.

Also, the main reason they put in The Beatles first is most likely to emphasize that The Beatles are first and Rock Band is second, as opposed to Guitar Hero titles.

I understand that, but I think having a catchy title is important for sales, too.

The lack of Do You Want To Know a Secret saddens me.

If the medley was on disc, the album would probably sell a lot less.

On these:
I love George, but Do You Want to Know a Secret seems kind of middle-of-the-road to me. It's one of my least favourites off Please Please Me, along with A Taste of Honey.
Well, Come Together isn't on disc, and let's imagine that the only way to play the medley tracks seperately is to buy the album.

The music from Sgt. Peppers onwards seems to be where they become more experimental, IMHO.

It's not really opinion that they were more experimental. This was probably fact ever since they changed the slightest bit.

And I don't know, experimental to me doesn't equal better. I truly love the entire Beatles' career, and unlike a lot of people here I don't just forget about the old ones which made them famous in the first place. Which is why I'm glad HMX has given all eras equal representation in the game.

I understand that, but I think having a catchy title is important for sales, too.

The way we pronounce it is probably the difference here. If you pronounce it the way I do, and the way most people I've heard do, there's no pause, and it flows well. Personally, I think that's catchier than the stiff Rock Band: The Beatles. Besides, I don't think the title had much to do with sales, other than the addition of "Rock Band". They wanted Rock Band somewhere in the title so people had a recognizable title to relate it too, and encourage people to buy other games in the series, even though it is very, very different than a Rock Band game. The main reason of having The Beatles first was probably to give them their proper respect. This wasn't necessarily about Rock Band, this was about The Beatles and their great music.

I probably just like it because it was one of the first Beatles songs I ever heard, but never really knew the name. When HMX announced it for the game and I listened to it, I almost cried in memories. It has a more intimate feeling with me, so there's a bias there with me.

I don't know, I don't think I would like to pay extra to play medley tracks separately. Besides, I don't think HMX would want to put it on disc as one song, just doesn't seem right. It worked out well the way it was.

You also didn't mention Something, surprisingly, even if by chance you don't like it. It's probably one of those huge songs compared to their other huge, well-known hits that would sell a ton as DLC.

I am also glad. It give me great hope that a similar approach can be used for a couple of other 70s bands, and it adds a mix for songs I would not have considered before.

In terms of whether The Beatles: Rock Band, or Rock Band: The Beatles sounds better coming out of one's mouth, I implore you to examine the natural meter:

_/____~____~___/___~
Rock Band: The Beat-les

note how in this phonic iteration that you have two unstressed syllables in a row, which in an example this short is virtually void of pattern. Let's examine the alternative:

_~___/___~___/____~
The Beat-les: Rock Band

note here, the actual title of the song, employs perfect iambic meter, with 2.5 feet of meter. Phonically speaking, this version SHOULD feel more natural for a human mouth to say since humans typically speak naturally in iambic meter.

Hope this helps.

Okay, I'm done with commenting on pronunciation. It's like arguing why you say "toh MAY toh" instead of "toh MAH toh".

I don't know, I don't think I would like to pay extra to play medley tracks separately. Besides, I don't think HMX would want to put it on disc as one song, just doesn't seem right. It worked out well the way it was.

The medley doesn't seem right separated, really. I could see dividing it into:
You Never Give Me Your Money
Sun King
Mean Mr. Mustard / Polythene Pam / She Came in Through the Bathroom Window
Golden Slumbers / Carry That Weight / The End / Her Majesty
But, really, I wouldn't divide it at all, because it was meant to be listened to as one song.

You also didn't mention Something, surprisingly, even if by chance you don't like it. It's probably one of those huge songs compared to their other huge, well-known hits that would sell a ton as DLC.

It's not that I don't like it, I just find loads of other songs they released better.

Yeah, I get that. As I said, I'm just surprised you didn't mention it as a selling point for your Abbey Road along with mentioning Come Together. But seriously, like, I really don't think the medley would work on disc. They kinda treat it as multiple songs, and they wouldn't give it to us as one song like that.

Sorry if this is already been put to bed, but the title "The Beatles: Rock Band" to ME explains what this game is about in order of importance if nothing else.
1) The Beatles: their songs, their likenesses and there story in a 2) Rock Band framework. Clearly most everyone here would agree that of the two things, THE BEATLES has to be the most important thing.

Also naming it like is is helps to distance it from Rock Band 1 & 2 (& 3?) crowd and the ever enthusiastic group of people wanting to see the songs exportable.

Just my opinion on the name thing...that's all.

Has to be "The Beatles : Rock Band" for me, or even just "the Beatles"!

Would include the entire Help album for me, very sorely missed, and I really hope they make it DLC at some point :-)

It's not that I don't like it, I just find loads of other songs they released better.

I do think it's significant, though, being George's only A-side. However, there were also some very significant songs left out, so there has to be sacrifices.

I'm listening to the remasters currently, I might make one of these later... probably post it in this thread, though.

Boys is my favourite song off Please Please Me. Do You Want to Know a Secret is okay, but I've never really been that fond of it.

I prefer the former, but Boys is overall a more fun track, of course in my opinion. I do think Do You Want to Know a Secret is one of the best on Please Please Me, though. I think the title track is absolutely essential, really wish it would have made it in.

By just glancing, the only glaring omission is Revolution. Completely essential track. I'd trade Hey Jude for it and then some :(

I wouldn't be offended, as I know some people prefer the era I skimped out on (Sgt. Pepper/Magical Mystery Tour). In all honesty, that was my least favourite era, in case you couldn't tell.

Exactly. At first, it was just kind of meh. Then it was announced for the game, and I was kinda bummed because I thought "something so much better could be put in place of it." Then I gave it another shot and eventually started to love it, and now is one of my most commonly played songs in the game. It's also one of the best love songs of all time, and doesn't say "I love you" a single time, as said by Frank Sinatra. It's the kind of song that grows on you.

Also, yes, Revolution is very essential. After we had the ten songs announced and I was thinking of more (I wasn't a huge Beatles fan yet, but was becoming one) I pretty much assumed that Revolution was going to be in.

At a time, Revolution was my favorite song by The Beatles. While that would be tougher now, it still definitely ranks near the top.

I love the music of Revolution, but I'm not a fan of the lyrics. No matter what the message is, I'm generally not a fan of politically-driven songs.

And on my end, the lyrics to Revolution are some of the best Lennon has ever written :D
