will the new guitar controllers for rock band work for guitar hero?

I don't believe RedOctane or Activision has announced anything like that yet. Harmonix offered it in an interview, though. And Harmonix has been clear that rock band will support all 3rd party controllers. We'll just have to see if Activision/RedOctane wants to play nice.

They should work for 2. As for 3, Activision has to decide whether they want to support the Rock Band controllers or not.

I wonder and hope that the RB guitars are Backwards compatible with Guitar hero 1 /2 when playing on the PS3, since i got my PS3 I haven't been able to play GH the way it's ment to be played as the Guitar controllers don't work on it it works fine with the sixaxis or the duel shock but that's not the way it should be, and i dont have a PS2 any more as i gave it to my niece when i got my PS3,

i even emailed Sony/ Red octane and Activision asking would they do Something about providing support to get the GH controllers working Sony said they don't provide support for 3rd party games or controllers.. red Octane said to contact the publisher ie Activision, Activision couldn't care less they said they no longer support the game.. ah well maybe HMXSean or any one else from HMX can say if they do or not NDAs permitting of course.

The usb adaptor that RO sells isn't working for you?.. I am fairly certain I have heard other people say they are playing GH1 and GH2 on thier PS3's.

That isn't looking likely. Activision is being pretty nasty about it's competition. And even RO before the buy out was trying it's damnedest to gimp the aftermarket controllers to not work with GH2... Even though Red Octane was founded and built on being a third party controller manufacturer for other games.
