Dissapointed in LRB? Why?

I am. Great game and all, but the fact that it lacks online and a setlist (which was found in RB2) is a little bit of a setback...

For it's target audience, I see the point of no online play. That's the only negative I have, but I understand the point of it. What do you mean "No setlist"?

I came out with 35 songs I'd actually listen to/play, which ended up (with the export cost included) being exactly the usual DLC cost of 1.99, so it worked well enough, value wise.

Good thing there is a Rockband Store. There you can spend $10.00, and get 5 songs of YOUR choice. If your lucky, you may even have $.05 left over. :)

I have a wishy-washy opinion on the game. I like most of the setlist, I enjoy the unique look/tone that the Lego elements give it, and I think it has some neat innovations that could serve the series well as a whole (especially the album-recording element, that was great).

However, even though I did say I like most of the setlist, there are 4 or 5 real stinkers (which I'll refrain from naming). This is not really a knock on LRB, but the export - For $10, I really wish I could have chosen which ones would make the transition into the Rock Band 2 library. With RB1's export, I was able to say goodbye to a couple of songs I couldn't stand playing, and I really hope an RB2export will someday allow me to say goodbye to "Visions." This "All or nothing" approach with exports (I ran into the same problem with the AC/DC pack) is pretty infuriating.

I think only two songs I don't like so far. The cut scenes are funny. And the game itself hits its target, and non-target audience. Only downside to me is the size is songlist. But, that in its own right is a misnomer because any more songs from this type of list might have been overdoing it. 9/10

I give it a solid 6. The new features are nice but the missing old features really hinder it. I mean, at least have LOCAL Leaderboards. Loading times are insane and Legos just look weird with "teeth" lol

I'll take quality over quantity any day, and being that this isn't Rock Band 3, (it's more like Rock Band 2.5), I have no issue with there not being 80+ songs.

I like the setlist, venues, characters and vocal engine (I can actually do good on Hard just like TBRB). But the filter and load times make it less enjoyable.

11-09-2009, 04:52 PM
No, I'm not disappointed. I'm enjoying it way more than I thought I would, and in fact, there's some features in it that I think should be in RB3. I mentioned it in another post, but some good examples are making an album (though in RB3 they should let you make your own artwork and also make longer setlists), the stat tracking in the office, the fact it switches between stars and scores on the song selection screen, and so on.

The lack of online play or leaderboards and the weird DLC filter is a downer, but that's why RB2 is still my main RB game.

My friend has this on the Wii, so he'd give it a negative-googolplex. I personally give it an eight, as it exports to my library and it's a funny little flawed game on the side.

I gave this game a 10. I expected it to be a trackpack, but it turned out to be a really fun game. It also incorporates a lot of features that make casual players more interested in Rock Band:
Auto-Bass
Unlimited saves
Save yourself
Super-Easy difficulty

Big "thumbs-up" for LEGO!

I'm giving it an 8.

No online is a minus, but exportability fixes some of that issue (although jamming online with Lego peeps would have ruled).

Other negative points are the shortish setlist and a few too many pop-punk throwaways for my liking when considering the relatively hefty price (especially when including the export code).

On the plus side there's the quirky cutscenes, the customizable den, the better score/star tracking and the general awesomeness of playing with little Lego figurines.

Agreed. I'll keep banging this drum until the right people listen: The biggest downer about any Rock Band games is spending all this money buying stuff (and I've never complained about the price of anything; it's totally my choice) and not being able to customize it into the game I want to play.

Please let me delete the songs I don't want.

I gave it an 8.

+Album Creation Feature, Varied Venues (Not the fantasy stuff, per say, but even the outdoors/well lit venues where RB2's were all mostly a dark look to them. (Beatles did this too, even without dreamscapes.)). The story is much better then RB2's in entertainment factor, and generally providing context and even personality to your band. Creating your crew is nice touch, and having your own home.

- The setlist is a bit tiny, and with some stuff obviously off one edge or another for most people, forcing the full export is a bit nuisancey. The story doesn't do so well in progressing in terms of difficulty, it's all over the place, no matter what instrument you choose. The lack of online capacity coupled with the odd restrictions on your album art/band logo for being local-only.

My guess for the reason for the smaller setlist is that Rock Band isn't as profitable as MTV or EA would like and the easiest way to lower cost is to cut licensing. As long as the game design and the quality of songs are still top-notch I can forgive them, they could just be saving up for RB3's setlist.

8...I like the game a lot. It shows stars in the menus...that alone makes it better than RB2. I like that every gig in the tour unlocks something. It drives me to play through everything, as opposed to RB2 where once I beat the endless setlist I never played tour again. Money (studs) is shared with the entire band, so I can customize other characters in the band without having to play on them. Auto-kick makes drums way more accessible at parties. If the entire setlist transferred to this I would probably never play RB2 again.

Lord_Mhoram

I give it a 9.

Gameplay is RB2. I enjoy the lego figs performing, and the setlist for the game has been the single best for a Rhythm music game since I started buying the things - I like some metal, but every music game has one or two songs that really irritate me - ones I don't want to listen too, much less play. Lego rock band has none of that. I enjoy pop nearly as much as rock, and definitely more than subgenres of metal I don't care for.

I'm not disappointed in LRB at all. Hell, I'm pleasantly surprised at how much fun it is to play. I thought it would be fun enough, but they did a nice job with the challenges, the Rock Den, etc. We've been enjoying going through it so far.

The Surprise Setlists have been pretty good for us so far, too.

It's hanging around a 5 right now. So far the songs I haven't known before have been horrid (suprised how most weren't terrible in BH). When I got to the diamond mine thing I had to play Dig twice in a row. Only having 45 songs of course. Terrible value,I'm in Canada so it's even worse. Customization is awful as touched on in other specific topics in the forum.

Hopefully levels out to about a 7 later and some of the songs I don't know end up fun. Might be enjoying it more if all the songs had specific backrounds. Imagining the little Lego people stealing coke and chips in Grace seems like it'd work out funny. It's the same ammount of songs as The Beatles so don't say it can't be done. Now I realize some of these songs are pissant and probably not workable with so maybe all is a bit much but it appears there's only 9 and more that could've been done.

Here's how my last section of the tour went...

Check Yes Juliet
Ghostbusters
Fear of the Dark/Don't Fear the Reaper
Dig
Dig
Check Yes Juliet
We Will Rock You/Ring of Fire
Check Yes Juliet
Ghostbusters

...c'mon now. This is ridiculous.

There were a few ridiculous repeat moments like that I found too. When I played Dig for the first time, a two-song set came up and what was the first song? Dig!

I really like Lego Rock Band. It's funny, adds some new features to the game (showing your performance percentage and your streak after each song in a multiple set) and the setlist is very decent. I think it was designed as a stand alone game pretty much like The Beatles:Rock Band was. The lack of online does bring it down a bit but considering the rating and that it is family friendly I can understand the logic behind that decision. Overall it's a good game. No real complaints here.

The game is great for it's target players. My 5 year old daughter loves it to no end.
If you are not a child, I would think you would be just buying it for the export...in which case there are not that many songs and probably only 20 at most that I would personally want. But that is not why we got the game. We got the game to play as a family and to have the ability for kids to play without adult supervison...which is possible due to the filters, lack on online play, etc...
I also like the hints into the neat added features you will be getting with RB3 (like make an album and a few others)
Again, the game is a 10 for what it was designed for imo.

11-10-2009, 02:53 PM
I'd have to say I was disappointed. I gave it a 6/10. It's not a bad game, but just way too many questionable design decisions and watering down for my tastes. Maybe I was expecting just a little bit too much out of this game.

The character customization features were a huge let down. The omission of face paint and skin tone adjustments made me eventually ignore customizing my bandmates. Plus, there's really no point in making individual characters.

The setlist is just lame. I wanted to like these unknown songs, but for the most part, they just stunk. I'd rather my kid listen to the more explicit lyrics in the "real music" in RB1 and RB2.

The mystery sets seemed to cycle Dig, Check Yes Juliet, and Ghostbusters like everyone else. I actually liked Dig, until playing it 5 times in less than an hour. I did get a Roy Orbison song once, but the random song feature is broken.

The export is way too expensive for a bulk download...for $10, I rather cut the crap out and just pick my 20 songs worth playing. I'm actually skipping the song export, as I can't bear to play Check Yes Juliet again, and I'm starting to get my fill on Ghostbusters.

The game was fun, but man, those little things it does wrong just keep adding up. I know this game was meant for kids, but, it really wouldn't have been that hard to make this game better. It just doesn't live up to my expectations.

Secondary disappointment is no Spongebob songs were added, Goofy Goober Rock is still being more elusive than it should be.

I give it an 8 overall.

There are some great new things as people have mentioned, things that can be expanded upon for RB3 and made awesome!

The setlist I am torn on. There's like 10 songs that are totally amazing. Songs/bands that I've wanted on RB since forever. I can't even tell you how excited I was to play "Check Yes Juliet" for the first time. Boys Like Girls, Incubus, Lostprophets, Hendrix, etc. Awesome. Then there's about 25 or so songs that are okay enough. Then 10 or so that are blah. The filter doesn't bother me.

The customization is odd. I could not remake my band from RB2 even remotely.

Heh, not quite yet. I still have to give up several hundred dollars. :p

It's probably true that us 360 folks were spoiled by being able to cherry pick the songs from RB1. But at the same time, if there are songs on a disc or as part of an export that a player really can't stand, there ought to be some way to deal with it - at least make it so it won't show up on random setlists.

Strictly as a game I would give it a 5. Since some of the current DLC and RB1 songs work with it that increases it to a 6. Since it exports, that increases it to a 7. So overall...a 7 from me.

Quite frankly this game reveals just how biased Reviewers and gamers are these days.

This game is crap... awful charts, awful songs, awful graphics, absolutely nothing new, and overpriced. It's barely worth the $10 to transfer, yet you guys are giving it an 8/10? Even X-Play gave it a 4/5. It deserves a 4/10 at most.

It's sickening, if it says Rock Band it's automatically good, if it says Guitar Hero it's automatically bad?? GH5 kicks ass, this game sucks. waste of my money, no way it got the same score as GH5 or even Beatles Rock Band (both a 4/5 on XPlay)

So I'm happy that it's so blatantly awful I won't waste money on it...

I am disappointing though... THE FINAL COUNTDOWN! Now I'll never get to play it. Maybe GH will get it as DLC, but I doubt that and then some.

Simple fractions for the win! 8/10 is equivalent to 4/5.

There are many new things with the game: Stud Recovery, album creation, a fun storyline, and Rock Power Challenges. The tour mode is fun although much the same as similar world tours on other games.

Edit: Ghostbusters is the greatest thing ever.

Good setlist, nice 'new' story mode. Rock challenges are a nice addition.

I just got it for 'da choons'.

Before I get into the song by song review here I'll just say again this tour mode was awful. The power challenges could've been better too. Considering where all that went how could you NOT have Come Sail Away by Styx? Also why wasn't the 2001 Space Oddessy theme used in the story playable?

- All American Rejects, "Swing, Swing" - Average at best. 3/5

- The Kooks, "Naïve" - It was meh in BH and still meh here. No repeat penalty as they came out on the same day,it just so happend I got BH first. 2/5

- The Automatic, "Monster" - I remembered it from some other game. FIFA 08 apprently. Slightly above average. Though considering the meaning of the song (while looking up the game it was in..."The lyrics seemingly refer to someone taking drugs, with the "monster" representing the person's behaviour under their influence, or perhaps while coming down.") it's really not family friendly. I was thinking of Weird Al's Jurassic Park during this challenge. 3.5/5

- KoRn, "Word Up!" - Averageness here. I like the original so don't mind this. 3/5

- Blink-182, "Aliens Exist" - Meh. 2.5/5

- KT Tunstall, "Suddenly I See" - Decent but I like her BH song a lot more. 3/5

- Blur, "Song 2" - GH 5 repeat so -1,no points for Lego Blur. 2.5/5

- Lostprophets, "Rooftops" - GHWT repeat. It had a sing-a-long in that so that gave it quite a boost but this had a better chart. Had to play this one twice in a row. 4/5

- Bon Jovi, "You Give Love a Bad Name" - Another GH 5 repeat. 2/5

- P!NK, "So What" - GH DLC repeat. Not only that THIS is what you pick for a big battle type thing? I didn't buy it for DLC so didn't want it here. Couldn't get Dio or something? I guess that one part is kinda catchy but otherwise it's rubbish. 0.5/5

- Boys like Girls, "Thunder" - This is also a song that ruined a power challenge. How this sissy emo crap would summon a storm I have no idea. Oh I get it,they're emo so the rain is supposed to be tears? Deep. 0/5

- The Police,"Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" - This is decent but I have no idea how this is family friendly. "Every little thing she does turns me on"...uhhh?? 3/5

- Bryan Adams, "Summer of 69" - Averageness here. 3/5

- The Primitives, "Crash" - I liked this song but didn't know I knew it when it came up. Actually I don't know it so much as the 95 mix from the Dumb & Dumber soundtrack. Its power challenge was ruined as I already had played the song part of the songs about cars thing in the speedway. Couldn't get Don't Want to Miss A Thing? 3.5/5

- Carl Douglas, "Kung Fu Fighting" - The song is great but the chart is awful, much better chart in BH and BH had kung fu moves. This had nothing. This one was made for a power challenge but there wasn't one for it. Would've made more sense. 3/5

- Queen, "We Are The Champions" - Sorry I've had it in GH for months and it's a great song and all but playing twice, back to back for a finale was just tedious as pretty much the entire tour was already. Didn't really help that it came off as the aliens dug up Freddie. 3/5

- The Coral, "Dreaming of You" - I'm not sure what the heck this was supposed to be. It's not very good though. 2/5

- Queen, "We Will Rock You" - This one is kinda conflicting. I'll just give it a 3.5/5

- Counting Crows, "Accidentally in Love" - Accidentally thought this was good? It seems quite a few people failed to advance in the game because they skipped over this song. I don't blame them. 0/5

- Rascal Flatts, "Life is a Highway" - This is alright but I perfer the original. 3.5/5

- David Bowie, "Let's Dance" - Same score as BH here. Lego Bowie doesn't score extra. Now had it been Lego Ziggy and the song Space Oddity or Starman (again considering the story...perfect power challenges) this one would've been off the charts. Guess I'll have to wait for Karaoke Revolution to play Space Oddity in space. 4.5/5

- Ray Parker Jr., "Ghostbusters" - This was awesome. Not sure if it has value being played normally in RB 2 but in game use was great. 5/5

- Elton John, "Crocodile Rock" - Not really fitting for the game. Considering the story Rocket Man might've been a lot better. 2/5

- Razorlight, "Stumble and Fall" - Why'd you get back up? If you stayed down a bit longer maybe you wouldn't have made this awful song. 0/5

- Europe, "The Final Countdown" - No comment needed. 5/5

- Spin Doctors, "Two Princes" - What happend to this never being in a game? :p Cheesy fun! 4/5

- Everlife, "Real Wild Child" - Since this is a Christian band from a Disney label something tells me they're not very wild, especially looking into them they give off the image of being very nice, respectful, well behaved people. That's always good but this song isn't. Another one that's here cause it was in a movie. 1/5

- Spinal Tap, "Short & Sweet" - Umm,it never came up. Wasn't part of the story. It doesn't sound very good (listening from the RB2 menu) but as I didn't actually play it...?/5

- Foo Fighters, "Breakout" - Dave Grohl, enough already. (Unless you're going to hand over Rape Me and Pennyroyal Tea for DLC) Melt with You would've been epic for this power challenge, original or Bowling for Soup cover. 0/5

- Steve Harly, "Make Me Smile" - As if there wasn't enough British indie rock they pull British indie rock from 1975. This song did not make me smile but also isn't awful enough to deserve a 0. 1/5

- Good Charlotte, "Girls & Boys" - Ya know what would've been great? Girls & Boys by Blur. Right song, wrong band. It has some value though. 2.5/5

- Sum 41, "In Too Deep" - Again, minimal value here. As previously mentioned couldn't help but think how amazing this challenge would've been with Salty Dog by Flogging Molly. 2.5/5

- The Hives, "Tick Tick Boom!" - It's average and worked with the challenge but it's been used soooooooooooooooooo much it's lost any appeal it had. 2/5

- Supergrass, "Grace" - I'm not sure if this is for comedy purposes or if it was just picked for the Highway Star like intro to use in the opening video. Is it supposed to be a funny song? As I mentioned before I was imagining the Lego people jumping on the trampoline and eating the chips and coke. That would've been neat. Well it's not terrible, pretty average I guess and decent to play. 3/5

- Iggy Pop, "The Passenger" - About time. I liked Lego Iggy so extra for that. 5.5/5

- Tom Petty, "Free Fallin" - Good enough I suppose. I realize Mary Jane's Last Dance isn't for this game. 3.5/5

- Incubus, "Dig" - Should've kept digging. Might've found something good. I should mention the only Incubus song I like is Pardon Me so this didn't have much chance to begin and playing it twice in a row really killed it. 0/5

- T-Rex, "Ride a White Swan" - This was a bit strange. Not horribly awful though. 2/5

- Jackson 5, "I Want You Back" - DJ Hero ruined this one for me. I kept waiting for the "H to the Izzo" part. :p NR/5

- Vampire Weekend, "A-Punk" - It's somewhere between catch and awful making it worthy of a 3 but already having played it in GH 5 that reduces the score. 2/5

- Jimi Hendrix, "Fire" - It's Jimi freakin' Hendrix. 5/5 (was that Lego Hendrix looking fig on the load screen unlockable? I didn't do all the make a set/suprise set gigs, only what I had to for finishing the story.)

- We the Kings, "Check Yes Juliet" - I was thinking check maybe but having played it 3 times within 9 songs made me realize how terrible the song really is so I'll check no. 0/5

- Kaiser Chiefs, "Ruby" - Loved it in GH 3 but now it has vox, drums, bass and a sing-a-long so no score loss for the repeat. 4.5/5

- The Zutons, "Valerie" - Boooo. Just booooo. 0/5

- Katrina & The Waves, "Walking on Sunshine" - As I said with BH camp value and nothing else. 2/5

My original 5/10 I said it was hanging around seems about right.

Are you kidding? This is a GREAT game.

Sure, no online play, but a number of spins to the formula that make it more appealing to younger players, and tracks that, while they tend to skew younger, also include some brilliant classic stuff, as well.

Hell, I'd have paid full price for Ghostbusters and The Final Countdown alone.

Add to it that I get to make a Lego version of my RB2 character (seen as my avatar, here), and I can't POSSIBLY find anything to complain about.

Creativity I give it a 10 the lego characters are really funny
Difficulty i give it a 5 (attributed to target audience)
the lack of online play is disappointing but with the export its a wash
the game is fun and def worth the $60 to add 45 songs to your RB2 setlist

But vocals work in Lego Rock Band, not on GH 5. I think opinions about charts and songs means less than an actual working game. Afterall musical opinions vary from person to person, a game actually functioning correctly isn't a matter of opinion. That alone drives the score of Rock Band games up and GH games down. Don't come back in here and lie and say the vocals work in GH5.

I loved this game. My only disappointment really came in three words: "Short and Sweet" That song cycles a lot in my mystery setlists. And that is going into my Rock Band 2. :[ But that is just a personal taste.

The setlist was great. I ended up loving 80% of the songs. I want almost all of them in Rock Band 2 [once I get MPs], except for "Short and Sweet".

The story was fun and the costomization was nice.

I give it a 9/10.

Stupid "Short and Sweet"

Aside from the small setlist I loved this game! I can see why most people are upset about online, but I usually play with a few friends at my house or by myself.

Here's my question though?

Do you think the game was good/fun enough for them to continue the series i.e. LRB2?

Nah, see the sales thread. LRB (and BH for that matter) had a horrible first sales week. Unless there's a huge sales boom for Christmas, I'd say LRB2 would be a longshot. I'm pretty negative about LRB, but mainly because it could have been a much better game with some minor changes. So, if we do get a sequel, please give us a better setlist, maybe a handful of more songs, less gimped features and a better character customization engine that allows skin tone changes and/or makeup/face paint. And can we re-evaluate some of that DLC that got filtered out...some of those that are deemed inappropriate are puzzling.

Forgot to mention. What the heck is up with the sing-a-long in Free Fallin'? It's specifically on "Ventura Boulvard" but no where else in the song.

I guess I wasn't disappointed, but I didn't think it was great. I was expecting it to be a more shallow version of Rock Band, with a Lego skin, and that's pretty much what it is.

The setlist itself is solid, but when so many of the special gigs come up, and they contain ONLY on-disc songs (I had one play Suffragette City, which oddly, is locked of build a setlists), and that the pool of on disc songs is pretty small this time around doesn't help for the same songs getting old.

I exported the tracks, but I don't know how many I'll actually play after burning out them on the tour.

The stars system is really good, and I would love to see why it mplemented on Rock Band 2.

The album feature, more or less a precursor to "save-a-setlist" is basic, but the individuality keeps it fresh. I'd love to see it on Rock Band, with the art maker.

A couple of really good tracks, but a ton of repetition just wears thin after a while.

I'll give it a 6.8/10.

It's above average, but not spectacular.

And hopefully that happens. I just read yesterday that Activision is ALREADY working on BH2.

I like the game in nearly every regard, except that the hammer on thing really needs to be fixed. I actually have an easier time gold starring certain songs in the RB2 engine with a higher threshold than I do on the Lego engine with a lower threshold.
This sounds trivial, but it makes my enjoyment drop a whole lot when I have to worry about the amount of hammer-ons and how that will affect my ability to reach 5 stars.

The only other thing that I've noticed is how special gigs can accumulate. I don't mind one being tossed in every now and then, but I can play a single gig from the menu, and keep getting special gigs for about 3 or 4 in a row. This detracts from the feeling of making progress.

I am having a LOT of fun with it, since I am taking it for what it's worth to me... A diversion from Rock Band 2. After essentially finishing that game, it's been hard for me to really get into playing for long stretches. I check out the DLC every week, but don't play nearly as often as I used to play.

Unlike the Beatles game, when I am done with this one, the songs will still be available in my library.

I like the progression, or lack thereof. If you want easy in the beginning, then select a lower difficulty. I don't want to play all of the easy songs in a row before getting to the harder songs.

I also like going back to previous venues as the new gigs open. There's no penalty for not playing each of those special gigs as they come up... You can simply move on, and come back to them later.

The songs have all been great, especially the ones I hadn't heard before. I know that's only an opinion, and that's fine. I am not a fan of metal, so this game is great for me.

The venues, and character customization is great, for Lego characters. The story progression is also good. I've enjoyed all of the Lego games so far, and this one especially.

Edit: Oh, 9 out of 10.

I wasn't expecting much from L:RB, mostly just excited for the setlist and the export. When I started playing it, it made me realize just how out of touch I had been with my imagination (If I want to play P!nk to kill orcs and goblins, I will!). I also like the cutscenes within the tour and somewhat of a story. I believe Rock Band could use some of those to add a sense of depth and reasoning to the gigs. The dark, grungy clubs we are used to playing in compared to the brightness of playing in a zoo made me think how all Rock Band venues look the same. The achievements were just given playing though the tour. Literally, it takes no work at all. The power rock challenges were really inventive and the whole take turns just watching the screen thing was a little awkward. The character creator was pretty wonky and if you tried to make a black woman, you were out of luck. Buying the minifigs were pretty fun, although the licensed characters would have made this game ultra-fantastic. The filter didn't bother me too much, it was just ridiculous how they belittle 10+ kids because most of them hear these subject matters and language on tv to a worse extent. One thing that also bothered me was how they changed the critique. "AWESOME" is now "PERFECT" "OKAY" is now "GREAT". There are no negative remarks like "MESSY". Reminds me of little league coaches with the uncoordinated kid. I'm pretty sure 10+ kids are able to realize criticism and to benefit from it. It loads the smallest menus. I also hate how most of the time it starts with "Word Up!" in the menu. The drum fills sounds muffled, the lego drummer has no specific animation per song. The rock den needs to have more customization. Lack of create album artwork/logo. It also kept Rock Band's credibility by keeping those great rock tracks and not completely selling out like Band Hero. This game doesn't seem very kid oriented, more like family oriented. One of the best things it did for me was make Rock Band 2 a whole new experience again. It livened up my random and picked setlists. Lego:Rock Band 2, please?
8/10

I love it. Its super cute and it makes me laugh and smile. The songs are all musical, and not over-produced noise. (Early metal is the only metal I can enjoy, and the fact that RB2 forces you to play so much grind and screech to get anywhere annoys me no end. Just my taste, but I AM a classically trained musician.) This prolly costs me cool pts, but what the heck. My best friend and fav RB drummer didn't much want to play this one ("Not so much a fan of the Legos, April") but She loved Ghostbusters, Accidentally in Love, You Give Love a Bad Name, and a few others she DIDN'T expect to like. Valerie may be my new favorite song. Online doesn't do to much for me, as my disabilty keeps locked at mediuum for now. I give it a 9. :)

It was a pleasant surprise. Definitely a more pop oriented setlist, but there are a number of gems (Ghostbusters, Final Countdown, Queen x2, etc.), a "free" export to RB2+ (in that the game+export is $60), a terribly enjoyable story mode, rock challenges, recording albums, and tons of other little tweaks that made the game far better than the total joke I expected it to be. Slow loading times, no online, and FF-only songs do limit replayability, but I'd say it was well worth the purchase. 8/10

I'm more satisfied with the setlist than I am with the game itself. I liked the game too, but it had a few issues (crashes, loading times). The setlist was actually REALLY good imo, which surprised me. I ended up losing interest in going for the achievements and export/sold it fairly early.

I've been playing these games since Guitar Hero 3, but didn't bother with Lego Rock Band because the reviews of the Wii version weren't particularly good (poor graphics compared to games like Rock Band 2, no export or DLC, etc). But I've recently started playing Rock Band games on my 360 (thanks to a secondhand guitar controller that cost me all of £10) and I've really been enjoing Lego Rock Band. It has its annoyances (when you get a challenge it doesn't unlock it for playing later, you have to play it when it unlocks), but the game itself is fun and the setlist has some well-known tracks in it. (My favourite at the moment is Crocodile Rock because the bassline on expert is fun and yet challenging). And if you don't smile the first time you play the Ghostbusters challenge, there must be something wrong with you.

It definitely has higher value for the Xbox360/PS3 than for the Wii, since you can't export the songs to RB2 on the Wii. I love the fact that I can mix up my setlists on RB2 with the generally lighter, easier, "poppier" songs on L:RB.

Plus, I got it for only $20 + $10 export. Definitely worth that money!

Apart from not being able to play all my songs (Which is for a good reason), and the god-awful blinding OD background, I'd say it's pretty much superior to RB. Just generally scrolling through the menus is a lot quicker than RB2's, I actually found the tour mode bearable in this one (As opposed to an out of reach novelty on RB1, and a tedious, terrible repetitive mode on RB2). I didn't lose fans by restarting of cancelling a gig, I could equip all my tour managers to make it easier to gain funding, I could casually play a song with my entire band, I wasn't forced to play Round and Round constantly on bass pretty much every single time, once I unlocked a piece of clothing or an instrument for one person, I unlocked it for everyone, and while I do love the music videos in RB2, the rock power challenges in L:RB dominated them in every way possible. Plus, it saved breakneck speed, too. I even had no issue with the lack of online play.

I'd much rather be able to send over my RB2 songs and play all of them on L:RB as opposed to the other way round. After L:RB, I'm actually looking forward to seeing how Tour Mode will turn out on RB3, as opposed to deciding that it was the worst gameplay mode across all GH/RB games.

I really enjoyed it. I thought it was going in a good direction. I mean for the first time in Rock Band, aside from the first time I played Rock Band one, I felt like I was in a band. I get my own place to deck out, hire real people who do stuff, make a band that stays the same through out and MAKE ALBUMS!!!!! The other Rock Bands are just the same. Start up, play and done. There was no story. This had a story. Granted, it was for kids. However, even with its child like feel it really made me feel like I progressed into a rock star. Rock Band needs more of that story feel.

No online?? Ehh... I don't play online stuff anyway. So I didn't care. The one downfall for me was the songs off the network not going onto Lego. Some songs would have been nice to put onto a album.

I thought Lego moved Rock Band as a whole in a good direction. Like I said it make the player go through a career mode that was more then "Play in hometown, get bus, play Chicago, Play England". It had cut scenes that showed your growth, albums that you actually titled and made (unlike Rock Band 1 and 2 that had "Greatest hits" in the loading screen). It make more of a career jump which I think is needed in Rock Band. It was kiddy but fun at the same time. One of the best I think!

There wasn't much about the gameplay itself I was interested in that just justifys a rating, so based entirely on the setlist, I gave it a 6. There was plenty of really solid stuff in there, but it also shares a shadow with such annoying drivel.

Dissapointed in LRB? Why?

I am. Great game and all, but the fact that it lacks online and a setlist (which was found in RB2) is a little bit of a setback...

its a lego game meant to attract younger kids and its also exportable so you can play the set list online in RB 2 besides its only 20 dollars these days which makes it a great buy... My biggest let down was the lack of good songs and the fact that i cant delete the ones i dont like..
