Does anyone have a picture comparing these two guitars? I've only seen the Les Paul in real life, and I'm getting GH3 for Christmas for the Wii :\

I want Rock Band though, but never seen the guitar compared to the Strat, so I just wanna see a comparison of some sort. Like size, buttons, strum & everything. I searched all over the intranet but nothing came up :(

I SO want this game to come to the Wii. I hate myself so much for buying a Wii instead of a Xbox360 right now
Stupidest decision I ever made in my life..

yes... very bad decision.... umm no the rock band strat strumming is quiter i would say but the possibility of it breaking ventually are very good(replaceable for free via ea games)
as for button size its mostly the same....

rock band strat feels cheaper i think... but yea i prefer the les paul tho the solo buttons on the strat are pretty cool

hope i helped ya

Oh, really? I always thought because the Strat looks more realistic, that it would be built of better quality. I also thought the neck was made of wood for some reason :\
It's so realistic that it even fooled me, lol.

Anyway yea, I wish I could go back in time and tell myself to buy a Xbox360, but back then everyone thought it was the best thing ever..

Sell your Wii for an inflated price on eBay and buy a 360 with the funds, simple :p

Not a bad decision at all to go with a Wii.

The 360 or PS3 is not worth just this one game, in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, Rock Band is awesome, but I wouldn't base buying a console over it.

Enjoy the Wii, it has a lot of great games: Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Zack & Wiki, GH3, Resident Evil 4, etc. And you never know, they could port the PS2 version to the Wii. Also with GH3 trying to work out how to do DLC on the Wii by the time Rock Band would, if ever, come out for the Wii DLC should be solved.

As for the two guitars. I actually prefer the Strat. I like the buttons flush to the neck. The solo buttons are a nice touch, and the non-clicking strumbar is the best part of it all.

My issues, and it could be just my Strat. Overdrive can sometimes be a pain and the whammy bar seems loose (it'll fall down while playing and you have to reach for it). One last thing, my buttons are somewhat noisy. Even with these problems the things I mentioned in the above paragraph are more important to me so I still prefer the Strat.

Haha, yea..I could probably get about $500 off one. But I dunno if they buy them used on eBay, or if my dad would let me :'[
Else I would've done it a long time ago :D

Someone just can't take a quick one for me? Por favor?

Anway, I wish the Ps2 version didn't SUCK as much..else I would've asked for it for Christmas. My Ps2 is just sitting there now :\

I guess the games aren't that bad..and Rock Band is only one game. But hey, I only bought a Wii for Brawl xD
Though I did end up buying RE4, Strikers Charged, and Galaxy..and they are all very fine games, so I don't really regret it, just wish the Wii had Rock Band now. It's an awesome game from what I can tell..I'm supposed to play it this week 'cuz my friend is getting it for Christmas :D

Anyway, yea I heard about the override thing..but about the non-clicky strum, is that really a relief from GH? Does it really bother people that much? I mean, sure it's loud..but it feels pretty good IMO. And also I heard that it's hard to hit notes fast with the Strat's strum.

Sorry, don't have a Les Paul here to do a comparison shot.

Brawl should be good, No More Heroes is looking interesting as well.

My friend won't buy the PS2 version simply because it doesn't have the character creator, but unfortunately the PS2 just couldn't handle it. You could however get the PS2 version then upgrade to the PS3 later on and use the same equipment.

You mention your dad in an earlier post, perhaps you can sell him on the benefits of blu-ray and hi-def movies? Also explain you get the player plus a game console in one package with the PS3. Perhaps he'd foot the bill for that? Just a suggestion to try ;)

The lack of click is a big deal to me, not sure how much to others. I like that I can hear the song now instead of the clicking of the strum.

I used to use the "click" to keep rhythm, so it took some time to get away from that on the Strat. I think that alone makes it tougher at first. The timing window to hit notes is tighter then it is on GH3 making it more difficult there as well. One thing I've found is its not necessary to push up or down fully, a little does the trick (more like strumming an actual string). If you're going to push up or down all the way then I'd reckon it would be rather difficult.

Mind you though, I'm not an expert guitarist on this or the GH games.

I own both a 360 and a Wii and don't regret my decision for a Wii one bit. I like the innovation and casualness of the Wii and I get my hardcore fix from the 360. I got GH3 for my Wii and I love it. (Guitar is better for Wii compared to my experiences with other GH3 controllers) I've spent some time with Rock Band and the Strat and I have to be honest. It didn't really float my boat, despite the sweet design. But looks aren't everything and I had my issues. The whammy bar was really loose and it didn't respond in-game all the time. The solo buttons tend to stick quite a bit and the regular frets are uncomfortably stiff, which is not good when trying to nail 100% on a song.

So comparing the GH3 Les Paul to the Strat just comes down to preference. Would you rather have a fun multiplayer party game? Then choose Rock Band. If you want to shred to Through the Fire and the Flames / Devil Went Down to Georgia and shine in the spotlight as a rock god, then choose Guitar Hero. But for me, I prefer Guitar Hero and the Les Paul.

As for Wii Guitar Hero 3 DLC, Neversoft and Nintendo are still working out the kinks. Rumor is going around that once WiiWare launches (hardrive perhaps) that DLC will arrive for Wii owners. But keep that Wii, as many more quality games are right on the horizon!

The Rock Band Stratocaster is a very accurate plastic replica--looks just like a scaled-down version of the original.

And I strongly disagree with the guy who said it feels cheaper than the Les Paul. They're built differently, but now that the defects appear to be out of the assembly line for the Strat, I've gotten a lot more enjoyment and better performance out of using it than any of my other guitar controllers (including the Les Paul for the PS3, the PS2 wired SG and RedOctane wireless).

It's different and takes some getting used to, but I really thing the Strat is the best design of the lot.
