I'll just shut up and let the link speak for itself.

Ehhhh... I don't know about this. There's 5% cool and 94% horrible and 1% WTF in that song.

Not a remake . . . just a "re-visit"

Look at it like a sample

. . . a sample where the original guitarist sold out and became part of it.

It's definitely a WTF moment. I have to admit I'm impressed at how well Fergie can actually sing though.

So I love Cypress Hill. And while Slash is a complete sell out and a bit of a tool, he's a good rocker and i respect that. And Fergie sucks. So basically this whole thing leaves me confused and offended. I feel my childhood of enjoying Paradise City being violated. I don't think anyone ever heard this classic and thought "this needs to be a rap-rock tune with Fergie".

I think Axl subliminally put this idea in Slash's head to make up appreciate Chinese Democracy more.

It's.... an okay "re-visit"

Heard this on the radio on my way home from work yesterday. I never could stand Cypress Hill. But at least it has Slash in it, and during most of it, Fergie's singing is completely indistinguishable from Axl's original. She recreates it remarkably well, especially during the high "Take! Me! Hooooome!" parts of the chorus.

I still think the whole rap-rock genre needs to die in a fire though.

What the holy hell? No thanks. Then again, it's not as bad as Sheryl Crow's cover of "Sweet Child O'Mine". The worst part, by far, is Cypress Hill.

like a puff daddy/jimmy page collab huh?

just listened to it, and while it is pretty horrible, I like it better than that crap Axl calls GnR.

Also noticed STP confirmed they will be releasing a new album and Pearl jam dressed like devo at a show on the headlines of that site.

after what sheryl crow did i'm pretty much invulnerable to awful GnR covers.

According to Blabbermouth, the Slash & Friends disc will be out in March 2010 and the first single will feature Ozzy Osbourne. As Rolling Stone previously reported, Iggy Pop, Dave Grohl, Chris Cornell, Alice Cooper, Alter Bridge’s Myles Kennedy, Flea and every Gn’R member besides Axl are all among Slash’s friends. While Lemmy and Kid Rock have since been added to Slash’s roster, the top-hatted guitarist couldn’t lure Jack White to join the project. Slash will also appear on Rihanna’s Rated R on the song “Rockstar 101.”

ANOTHER GROHL PROJECT??

Lolwut?

I call shenanigans.

This seems like an attempt to get either Grohl, Cornell, Cooper, or Kennedy to front Velvet Revolver. All four have good talent when it comes to vocals, and anybody who listens to their albums can notice that.

Apparently the reason he couldn't get Jack White is because Jack wanted to play either guitar or drums, not just sing

If the album doubles as a try-out for new frontmen, I nominate Meat Loaf

I would be disappointed if any of those people got conned into singing for Velvet Revolver.

That wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. But that doesn't make it good.

Why does everyone hate on Slash anyway?

Eh, seems that Slash really lacks a creative bone in his body. Every time he ends up being the major creative force in a project, the project is pretty... mediocre. I mean, he was playing the riff from Sweet Child O' Mine as a technical exercise and wasn't particularly on board the idea of making it into a song. The guy had one of the most memorable riffs in rock history literally in his hands and couldn't tell.

He's a pretty good bluesy rock guitarist, but there's better.

He also seems to have a tendency to illegally use GnR music that Axl has rights to.

Lolwut? This could be potentially the best thing ever. Chris cornell on vocals, slash on guitar, Flea on bass, and grohl on drums. I support this if this all happens on one track.

Perhaps. But there are plenty of songs out there that were hugely succesful and the band was like "WTF? This one? This was supposed to be filler". I wouldn't judge him based just on that.

About the legal stuff, he screwed up huge in that regard basically signing everything over to Axl (or something). Have you read his biography? It was a pretty decent read.

I like Slash, he may be a bit out to lunch but overall he seems like a decent dude.
