In Rockband2, whenever i start a song, when the notes come I'll be able to play it but after 5-20 seconds the game will automaticly freeze and whatever part of the song was before it froze will say the same thing over and over again. It happens for all my instruments. Is it my Rockband2 disc or the instruments? I tried like 5 songs it all froze. Rockband2 was working last night really well. I was playing last night for a couple hours, no problem. How come the next day it's bad? Do I need to fix something on my Rockband2 or i need to get new instruments? Or do I need a new disc? Please answer.......

I've had the same problem here. I got my copy when the game first came out and up until about this week it's worked perfectly. Now all of a sudden when I'm playing a song it'll either freeze up or sometimes the screen just goes black on me. I tried getting a new disk because no other games were doing anything similar, but the new disk is having the same problems as before. My guess is our consoles are dying on us :(

What console are you guys using?
Is it freezing when playing DLC or disc songs?
Did the freezing start after taking a title update or a firmware update?
A few things to try:
- Clear your hard disk cache;
- Try to run the game from hard disk and from disc;
- Try to run the game online and offline;
- Try removing any peripherals like USB hubs.
Also for Wii users, I believe SD cards bigger than 2GB are not supported by the game.

Using a 360 here. I tried everything you said yesterday and still had the same problem. Today I went in to get my console replaced and with my new one I've had no problems whatsoever. So it appears it may be your console or maybe I was just unlucky.

I am running a 360...
My game is freezing whenever...lately it is in the song selection screen.
I have cleared the cache, cleaned the disc, cleaned the lens, tried without my Hard Drive, offline, online, and with only a microphone attached. Still nothing.
As I remember the issue began after an update in the fall. This is the second EA game that I am having this issue with, as my Madden 10 is also freezing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have invested heavily in DLC, and would like to continue to enjoy this great game, without the frustration of freezing.

Update:
Moved my hard drive and disc to another console, and it worked. Which leads me to a series of questions.
The first being: WTF is going on with the game? My other games operate just fine, with the exception of Madden 10 and RB2...both EA titles.
The second being: WTF do I do now? I have purchased quite a bit of DLC, have the base RB2 peripheral set up, and a game that isn't working.
The third being: is anyone else experiencing this phenomena?
I tried to work around the issue and checked on the RB music store...which froze in various places. The first time it operated for about 5 minutes and then shut down. The second and third in the load screen. The fourth on the initial menu.
My theory is that there is an issue with my RAM. The other games (except Madden) have a different caching system perhaps? My proposed solution is moving my RB files to another storage system as a work around. Thoughts?
*tap* *tap* "Is this thing on?"

I suggest you call Microsoft to have your console fixed or replaced.

I'm havin problems on the wii with rockband 1. If I try to play run to the hills or , just rescently sabatoge, the game freezes and reads 'disc could not be read'.
Sabatoge won't load at all, and run to the hills plays about thirty seconds. The disc is clean and the wii looks fine, other songs won't do this all. Is it the disk or the wii?

I have the same problem on the 360, with RB, RB2 and RB:Beatles. They crash randomly, sometimes at the title screen, sometimes I can play a couple of songs and then they crash.
I have tried playing from DVD with hard drive connected, from DVD with hard drive disconnected and with the game installed to hard drive. Latest updates are installed. I have tried clearing the cache and deleting save games, but nothing helps. It crashes regardless of what instruments I use (RB:Beatles Hofner bass, drums, GH3 Gibson) and crashes in the menus if I use a wireless controller.
Other games work fine, six hours of GTA is not a problem so I don't think the 360 is overheating. This is really annoying. If anyone has a clue, please help :)

Have you tried disconnecting the network cable?
Try playing 3 different games before loading RB. (saw this on another forum)
Try disconnecting everything for a few minutes. (this might seem odd but it might reset some internal peripherals)
