Connecting Wireless GH3 Guitar To XBox 360

I have an Xbox 360 and this is the first time I'm trying to rock out, full band with my family. But I'm having major difficulties getting my Guitar Hero 3 wireless Gibson to connect as the 4th player (with RB guitar, drums and mic /controller.)

I push the X button and that little connect button on the GH3 guitar, but it doesn't stay on. What am I doing wrong? :eek: Am I missing something? :confused:

Press the 'Guide' button on the Les Paul to turn it on. Now press the 'Connect' button on the XBox, while at the same time pressing the 'Connect' button on the LP. The ring of light on both the controller and xbox should light up. After that, the controller should be connected.
