View Full Version : The Cops VS. Rock Band?
I was gonna write the whole story but the stupid browser went back and erased the whole thing. BTW, this is 100% true, no bs. So here's the short version:
We all got together at 11pm and didn't even realize how late it was so we were playing the loudest we've ever played in my apartment with the window open. At 2am, we thought we heard pounding at the door, but disregarded it until we saw flashlights shining in the window. I guess somebody had called the cops on us for a noise complaint.
So we go outside to talk to them and then they notice our guitarist with his Les Paul still strapped on and they asked if we were playing Guitar Hero. We told them we were playing Rock Band and then they wanted to come in and see what was up.....and to check for contraband probably. =)
We showed them how we had a few top scores ( =) ), and they asked us to play Paranoid. We didn't really pay attention to them much, but I heard them say "Holy sh**" and "Goddamn" a lot.
It was totally awesome that our first "live" show (hahaha) was for the cops that came to bust us. They didn't even really give a **** about how loud we were after watching us rock. It was sick!!!
Keep rocking!!!

Dude if i was a cop I would love to be called in on a noise complaint and find out the culprit is rock band. I'd scare them a bit first "well it looks like i may have to take one of you in.......if you dont give me a turn". Then I kickass (i hope). I get so caught up in the game that I make more noise than they did, which results in another officer being sent in. He joins me, and eventually we take the game+peripherals away at gunpoint. What does everybody do during break time back at the station? Rock Band! Eventually the National Guard gets called in for noise complaints at said station, and the story continues.

I had a similar experience in Dallas when I was doing a promotional event down there. I stopped by my friend Stu's house to show him Rock Band. It was 10:30pm on a Friday and we weren't rocking THAT loudly, but apparently our rocking was causing dogs throughout his apartment complex to go f'ing crazy.
So the cops banged on the door. We stopped and answered:
"you guys having a party in here??"
(Stu stops to look behind him at the two of us, looks back at the cop as if to say "do you think people are hiding under the couch like a bad sitcom highschool party?)...ummm no?
"NO PARTIES...keep it down!"
"umm...okay."
We then turned it down and continued to rock. Largely the police could care less, and I'm glad to hear that they were so badass during the above encounter.
