Hey chums,
I'm acting as ambassador for Hellion and her band, the ever so delightful VAGIANT BOSTON. See, something kinda awesome happened.
They received a 2009 Boston Music Award nomination for Punk Act of the Year! This is big.
And the best part? We can help them win! Click here (http://www.thebostonmusicawards.com/contests/bma09/vote/) and take a second to cast your vote. Then do it again ten minutes after that. There's no limit to how many times you can vote, so keep voting! And tell all your friends on your Twitbooks and FaceSpaces to cast their votes too!
The award ceremony is Dec. 2nd, so keep gettin' your vote on every day 'til then. Let's get those broads a trophy!
Do they deserve to win, you may ask? You bet your hot soup they do. Their new album "Trash Candy" is freeeeeaking AWESOME. And I'm not just sayin' that. Seriously, you should get it (here) (http://www.vagiantboston.com). They've quickly became one of my favorite bands. It really is purely a coincidence that I'm dating the frontwoman.
Oh yeah, and throw Bang Camaro some love too while you're at it.

They definitely have my vote. I have the new album and I must say it is quite nice. Well, nice isn't the right word, more like kickass. Blasphemy and rage don't really count as nice.

VAGIANT RULESSZSSZS!!!!1!!11!!11!!!ONE ELEVENTY!!11
A vote for VAGIANT is a vote for kicking ass.
Side note: I'd also suggest Amanda Palmer for Act of the Year. Because a vote for Amanda Palmer is just, quite frankly, a vote for a sexier world.
Second side note: Oh wow and Bang Camaro is up for Live Act of the Year. Seriously why is this not a bigger deal around here?
Third side note: And Upper Crust has a few nominations? Jesus f*cking Christ. Harmonix community needs to represent!

I wasn't sure at first either, but after you enter that three letter whatever the hell it is, a check mark pops up next to the band's name, and it's counted.

Hey guys, this is really nice of you! Thanks so much! It's a ridiculously huge honor to be up against bands like the Dropkicks and Mission of freakin' Burma. As my bassist said, "It's not like we're up against Poopy Nobody and the Rockers."
So, yeah, we're psyched either way. But thanks for the support!!
HMX bands nominated: us, Bang Camaro (or "Band Camro" as I recently mistyped in an email to the company), the Bosstones, and Taxpayer.

Yeah I didn't. In fact I still don't since I didn't download those tracks since they, quite frankly, weren't that great. Maybe their others songs are.
I wonder how many people who profess the awesomeness of MoB actually knew their music before RB. Not that that's a bad thing. I didn't know anything about The Hellion and VAGIANT until Guitar Hero II.

I actually didn't like them until RB, I never got into FTK. Seven was awesome and that's what prompted me to check out their other songs. For the record, I still don't like the GH2 cut of FTK, I love the uncensored version though.

Cut me some slack, Mission of Burma is one of the most underrated bands in music's history and they don't get any of the credit they deserve as being one of the greatest punk bands out there. Mission of Burma is a pretty influential band and brought the punk movement to the U.S. If you think about it that way, I don't mean to put down any other bands that were nominated, but there's really no contest.

Huh? I like Mission of Burma but let's not give them credit for things they didn't do. Nobody "brought" the punk movement to the US, it started here. Most people who know about rock history agree that The Ramones were the first punk band, and they influenced the early UK punk groups, who in turn influenced later American bands like Mission of Burma.

Same. My issue was that I kept looking at GH2 as a game, wheras by the time Rock Band hit, I was more interested in the music.
Seven was so good it prompted me to go to a VAGIANT show. And then The Hellion pulled me on stage* to sing FTK. It was the best show ever.
Needless to say - I voted for both bands!

Cool! Congrads on the nomination Hellion and crew.
The new album is great by the way, got the CD in the computer listening to it now. So, yeah, unlike the OP I am not dating any of the four luscious women in the band, but I still love them all and Vagiant (Boston) is a great little band.

Okay, folks? You do realize I started this thread to pimp VAGIANT Boston, right?
If you want to cast your vote for some other band, that's fine, but do we really need to hear about it? If you met Hellion face to face in the street, would you honestly tell her her stuff like "Yeah, I didn't really like FTK, but I've heard Seven too and that was pretty cool, so, um, I'm voting for Mission of Burma." The anonymity of the Internet does some strange things to people's manners.
And another thing, and this'll be the last I say about it... these nominations are for 2009. There's no denying that MOB is a hugely influential band, but come on. Their CD from this year has a respectable but middling metacritic score of 76 (More like "Meh"-ssion of Burma, am I right?). If you're voting for a band based on their entire body of work from years past, or if you want a particular band for Rock Band DLC, you are voting incorrectly.
Again, to each their own, vote for whoever you think truly was Punk Act of the Year (being 2009). But, you know, be respectful about it.
Okay, I did my little rant. What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn't?

I would like to slyly say if VAGIANT had more music in RB...just sayin'...ya know...maybe they'd know they're wrong (no it's not a matter of opinion MoB is wrong and VAGIANT is right)...not that I'm desperate or anything...okay there's my kneeling and begging post.
However you do make a good point.
Also, Helen if you ever did anything alongside Amanda Palmer, anything at all, I'd probably trash my guitar, burn my tabs, give up all hopes and aspirations, and dedicate my life to using the power of such a creation to power the giant mech in my backyard. Just lettin' you know.
