not to take from your personal preference list, but I know that everyone always would like to know what the DLC songs are like to play before paying to download them, so i found a section on Xbox Magazine Online that does a review of every single DLC release for Rock Band. It doesn't include any videos which I know are always helpful, but they do give a very good and quick rating on how fun the songs are to play, which i know is important for most of you. Anyway here is the site, check it out: http://www.oxmonline.com/articles/59

My DLC ratings are like this

Were actually worth buying:
And Justice for all
Joker and the theif

I bought these but they were totally not worth it:
(Not fun at all)
Little sister
Sick sick sick
Sweet leaf
NIB
(Only fun on guitar)
Ride the lightning
Blackened
(Only mediocre fun on drums)
War pigs

And I have not and WILL NOT download anymore DLC that is anything less than great anymore I learned my freakin lesson from the DLC they have provided so far

I'm not even gonna touch DLC anymore unless its a song I enjoy listening to in the 1st place and can see having good note charts on RB

I've only bought about half of the DLC, and I chose to buy what I bought simply by picking songs that I like. (I picked up the QotSA pack mostly for a friend of mine, though.)

So I guess my ratings would be that about 16 of the 27 songs aren't anything I would choose for myself, and the rest are either four or five star songs, to me.

The ones I've downloaded:

3s and 7s - the only one in the QotSA pack that I really like.
Little Sister
Sick Sick Sick

"Heroes" (for some reason, I've always seen the title in quotation marks on any Bowie album...)
Moonage Daydream
Queen *****

Synchronicity II
Roxanne
Can't Stand Losing You

Bang a Gong (Get It On)

Buddy Holly

My Iron Lung

Brass in Pocket

Rating of the stuff I have downloaded:

Fortunate Son
Juke Box Hero
Synchronicity II
Buddy Holly
War Pigs
I Fought The Law
Joker And The Thief
Roxanne
My Sharona
Can't Stand Losing You
Bang A Gong
Sweet Leaf
N.I.B.
3's and 7's
Little Sister
Sick, Sick, Sick

I just like CCR is all. And the Stone Age stuff. Meh. Played it once but didn't catch my ear too much.

My ratings of my DLC I have so far:

Little Sister
War Pigs
Joker & The Thief
N.I.B
3's & 7's
Buddy Holly
My Iron Lung
Sweet Leaf
Sick, Sick, Sick

Though Sick, Sick, Sick is way at the bottom, I DO like it... its just too damn repetitive.

I like basically all the songs I downloaded besides Bang a Gong and Heroes. I have all the songs and those are the only two I regret buying.

I've downloaded all of the DLC. Call me crazy but I want more reasons to play Rock Band.. plus, an easier way not to get bored with the game. The more songs, the less repeats.

I really don't feel like listing from top to bottom my favorites so I'll do top 5 and bottom 3..

Top 5
Joker and the Thief
Ever Fallen in Love?
N.I.B.
My Sharona
Juke Box Hero

Bottom 3
Cherry Bomb (yuck)
Sweet Leaf
Heroes

Generally, I'm all about which songs are most fun to play as a band, so I ranked them in order of how likely I am to pick them for a setlist.

Bang a Gong (my favorite song to sing in game)
My Iron Lung
My Sharona
Juke Box Hero
I Fought the Law
Fortunate Son
Queen ***** (I had much higher hopes for this but it plays strange. If they do another Bowie pack, I hope it's some combination of The Man Who Sold the World, Space Oddity, Life on Mars and Ziggy Stardust)
Buddy Holly
Roxanne
Ever Fallen In Love
War Pigs
Moonage Daydream
Joker and the Thief
Brass in Pocket
Heroes
Rockaway Beach (only played once, SO repetitive)

I've only bought the Metallica pack and loved it. I checked out the other songs on youtube and they all looked boring to me. I hope me get some system of a down or some other more hardcore stuff.

You guys don't like "Heroes"???? Lame. It's a classic. If any song could make me cry it would be that song. On another note I pretty much like every song I've downloaded for DLC. That includes QOTSA, Punk and Police packs, and many of the single songs. And why does everyone hate Sick Sick Sick so much? I figured people would like that song more than me, yet it seems to be the opposite. Crazy!

I've purchased the Police pack, "My Iron Lung," and "Buddy Holly," and I love all of it. "My Iron Lung" is great to play, especially once you learn the words and can sing and drum or sing and play guitar along with it.

I'm also planning on getting the Queens of the Stone Age pack, the Black Sabbath pack, and at least "Jukebox Hero" and "Fortunate Son" out of the singles. The videos I've seen have sold me. Metallica, I'll wait until I find out what album is announced...

Great find with that DLC review site, by the way.

The Metallica pack is all kinds of win across the board. All three are awesome fun on guitar or drums, and actually give you something to do with the bass. :D

So far I've bought the Metallica pack, Police pack, Buddy Holly, Bang a Gong, Jukebox Hero, Fortunate Son, I Fought The Law, Brass in Pocket... off the top of my head. I don't regret any of them, though Bang a Gong + Brass in Pocket + Jukebox Hero aren't as awesome as all of the others.

Seriously though, if you like Metallica at all, get that pack. It's awesome.

Good find on the site, but it really is just opinion about bands you like (i.e. my like for QotSA, while other don't like them at all). Even though some songs may have bad chords(don't know proper term, sorry), people will learn to love them if they like the song

/my two cents

I've got all the download songs...

Some personal observations:

1) the metallica pack is a problem for anyone who isn't able to play expert guitar. It'll kick a "hard" level guitar players ass. It also isn't much fun for vocalists unless the singer happens to be a huge metallica fan.

2) The bowie pack is just odd all the way around. It's got some fun parts on guitar, but it's not bells and whistles on the drums and unless you REALLY love these songs.. you aren't going to be having a blast singing them. I'm a Bowie fan and I wasn't impressed with the cover of heroes.

3) I'm not a HUGE Sabbath fan... but all the sabbath songs are fun. Challenging for a singer who doesn't know the songs, but fun once they get them down. Guitar parts are certainly easier than the metallica ones, but still fun. Drums are varied.

4) Police Pack: suffers from some repetitiveness on some of the guitar parts. Challenging on the drums. Vocals... well.. it's got Roxanne. You'll either love and adore being able to sing Sting's parts.. or you'll say "WTF is this?? Who wrote this a friggin' British English Teacher??"

5) Punk pack: all three songs are a blast on the vocals. Whether it's your grandma, your kid sister, or you... Rockaway Beach is bubble gum enough for to be fun, I Fought The Law is a classic no matter which version of the song it is, and Ever Been In Love is a cute song to sing even if you've never heard it. The drums on them are fast enough to be interesting but you aren't going to wowed. The guitar parts for Rockaway Beach and the Buzzcocks flat out suck. The guitarist in your band will not be saying "Ooo let's play those" they are boring, repetive, and generally annoying. I Fought The Law is fun all the way around.

6) QotSA: For drums and guitar there's some fun stuff here. Nothing sticks out in my memory as being awesome about them, but if I'm on either instrument and the song comes up I'm usually interested in playing. I recall there being a bit of a challenge on one or two of them for Expert Level Bass Players (who aren't Expert Guitar players trolling on the bass). On the vocals.. if you love the Queens you love singing them. If you don't.. you're probably going to be really annoyed that it's not the same as singing the one song that shipped with the game.

The rest...

Iron Lung is a great song for the Medium/Hard players on all instruments. The Uber experts aren't going to care though. And on the vocals.. it's got enough range and interesting things going on here that I imagine most people will enjoy it.

Brass In Pocket: this is a song you might not know you know, but yeah.. you know it. Nothing great about this DLC.. nobody is going to be inviting thier buddies over to play it unless you really like the Pretenders. But... every single time it comes up everyone seems to have fun singing it or singing along with the singer. Another female vocalist song.. and it's pretty fun to sing even if you're a dude. You just don't get that "rockstar" feeling from the pretenders.

Buddy Holly: If you got someone who isn't a die hard Rocker playing the game.. if there's old people or little kids... THIS is the song to let them sing. The guitar and drums are fun for Weezer fans.. but nothing great about it. It's the vocals. This song is unique in that it's just about one of the catchiest songs ever written without being bubble gum at all. It's just as catchy as a Backstreet Boys song but you don't feel like a dork singing it because, well.. it's a damn good song from a damn good band. My wife had never heard it before (to which I accused her of being from mars for) and after getting half way through it she was singing her heart out because it's just plain FUN to sing.

Joker and The Thief: I didn't see anything special. Has some challenging parts. Sucks to sing if you don't know it.

Fortunate Son: Fun to play with a group. It's one of those songs that make you feel like a rock star no matter what difficulty you play it on just like Won't Get Fooled Again.

Can't think of what I'm leaving out...

But for my money:

War Pigs, Iron Lung, Buddy Holly, and Fortunate Sun are the songs you want to download if you got people in your house playing with you.

If you play online a lot or are an uber expert get the Metallica pack.

^^^ I agree with almost everything you said (the only parts I disagree with are the QotSA parts, but I'm a HUGE fan of them :))

Ok , my rankings of what I've gotten :

My Sharona
My Iron Lung
These two are really fun on all instruments.

Buddy Holly
Moonage Daydream
Bang A Gong (guitar is pretty hard on a sight read, but quite easy once you've played it a couple times)
Queen *****
Heroes (a little too repetitive in the game)
The Police Pack (got this for my brother, I like all the songs, but everyone seems to groan when it comes up)

I almost got Rockaway Beach and I Fought the Law, I like the songs but I imagine they're not that fun to play.

I want Joker and the Thief, and to a lesser extent the Metallica pack, but I'm the only one in our group that would be able to handle the difficulty in random setlists.

I'm very satisfied with all the DLC I've downloaded. One thing though is the Expert Guitar track for Little Sister with the 3-note chord to 2-note chord really frustrates me. It'll take practice though I'm sure, I like the song that part is just hard for me right now.

So far I have:

Fortunate Son
Joker & The Thief
My Sharona
Little Sister
Sick Sick Sick
Heroes
Moonage Daydream
Warpigs
I Fought The Law
Buddy Holly
My Iron Lung
Roxanne

I'm considering NIB, Rockaway Beach, Ever Fallen In Love? and Brass In Pocket. I'm waiting to see what's coming this tuesday and the coming weeks though before I blow my load.

I have purchased the following DLC:

"My Sharona"
"Roxanne"
"Jukebox Hero"
"Buddy Holly"

I will also be purchasing "Move Along" and "Dirty Little Secret". I am very pleased at what I have purchased so far. I would really like to see some more DLC made available from KISS, Boston, Rolling Stones, Rush, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Guns 'N' Roses, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, etc. Anyway, here's to hoping!

I Fought the Law is one of the best songs in a music game yet.

Stuff I've purchased, and my thoughts -

Metallica Pack - Not a huge fan of Metallica, but bought the pack to add some more challenge to the game. Though the songs ARE tough, they're great fun at the same time, and whenever a full band completes one of 'em everybody feels great. This pack especially has fun drum tracks. My only real problem is that the singer doesn't have enough to do.

The Police Pack - Great fun. Can't Stand Losing You and Roxanne are pretty easy, Synchronicity II is more challenging but not even close to impossible. Every song in this set is solid, and friends/family seem to enjoy playing 'em.

Queens of the Stone Age Pack - These songs offer a decent challenge to anyone, and are generally fun to play. 3's and 7's, as well as Little Sister get thumbs up from me, while Sick, Sick, Sick isn't tons of fun to play, and isn't as catchy a song. Overall, the pack is still recommended, though.

Black Sabbath Pack - Another great pack. Every song in this pack is fun, with "N.I.B" and "War Pigs" being the best, and "Sweet Leaf" being somewhat forgettable/not as fun to play. None of these songs are incredibly hard, but none of them are incredibly easy, either. Recommended!

Punk Pack - All these songs are pretty easy on the guitar, though they all have fun/interesting drums. Rockaway Beach is the weakest of the set, at least from a "sounds good" perspective; Ever Fallen In Love? is a catchy song (and a very solid cover), but a little too easy/repetitive on the guitar. I Fought The Law, while also easy, is fun all around.

Joker & The Thief - The intro to this song (on Expert guitar) rocks me. Other than that I've enjoyed it, don't have too strong an opinion here. The song is very good however.

Buddy Holly - Highly Recommended. Though very easy all around, this is a great song and one that EVERYONE seems to enjoy playing through. Everyone from my mom, to my snobby "rock died after Zeppelin" friends, enjoys Buddy Holly, and everyone feels like they're contributing to the song.

Bang a Gong - The only thing I've downloaded that I'm unhappy with. Though I like the song, something about it just doesn't feel fun while playing it. It's very repetitive, and harder than you might imagine, but I don't feel a strong urge to conquer it. Friends/family also seem to waver between disliking the song, and having no opinion. Not recommended.
