View Full Version : Disappointing chat at Xfire yesterday...

Not just because I didn't win a copy of Rock Band (any more events with that possibility scheduled? ;) ), but the whole atmosphere of it all was weird. I typed up a few thoughtful questions beforehand that went unanswered in the chat. Instead I saw questions like how many players can play Rock Band on one console answered by HMX. That question was answered twice! And questions with answers already widely available on the internet (like what the five new fret buttons on the guitar peripheral do) were used. Granted, some of the questions were good, but I didn't expect there to be the huge flood of one question per half-second sent in that room. That probably inhibited their ability to choose questions quite a bit. Something like a one message per ten minutes per user limit would've made that chat a lot easier and less chaotic.
I don't know. It was cool to get responses from Harmonix employees with one question that I asked. I just don't think the setup at Xfire was all that great.

Yeah, it was kind of disappointing, I'm still glad it happened. Xfire just needs to work out the kinks in order to keep things less hectic.

I'm glad I got to go to it. It was cool and all, but I could not agree with you more. So many questions were being asked, that HMX could not possibly pick all the good ones, which is a shame. They also answered some silly ones like the one you mentioned about how many people can play and things like that. They seemed to steer clear of any questions that would reveal much about the game that was not already known, which is fine with me, I didn't expect any big news or anything.
Xfire definately needs to work out some of the problems, and try and maintain more order, because it would be nice if everyone got some questions answered. There may have been just too many people allowed into the chat.

We had a lot of fun and sorry if you were disappointed in it. I wish we could do video here but I could show you my imitation of what it is like to answer question through one of these. it's insane (very cool but insane) and it feels like it is over in five minutes. Seriously. Also we were asked a lot of questions that we simply couldn't answer. There were a lot of people asking things like "So what is the exact release date? How much will it cost? What are the rest of the songs?" stuff we seriously just couldn't answer. And there was a lot of those sorts of questions which you don't want to just spam "No comment" over and over again so you have to choose carefully.

Makes sense, sounds like it was a gong show.
