RB1 drum problem.

The drummer of our group has gotten to the point that he's gold starring songs when playing solo, but he's run in to a problem with the RB1 stock EA drum kit. The red pad stops reading entirely if struck too rapidly, making some songs with rapid red beats impossible to finish. He attributes this to the first generation RB1 drum kits being faulty, but I haven't been able to find any info to back his claim up. Anyone else had this problem and know of a fix?

Oh he's definitely correct. The original RB1 stock kits had lots of problems, and the red pad not reading fast hits was a very well-known one.

Tell him to search on Youtube for the "sock mod". Azurite's video should be the first one that pops up with that search term.

And yes, having socks on your drums is ugly as hell. But it works. I personally used washcloths instead of socks.
