I searched the forums for a thread like this, but when I couldn’t find one, I decided to stop lurking and start posting.
Although I would've bought the game on release day anyway, the idea of 18 Dead songs was what really got me pumped about the vastness of the DLC. Over the past month and a half, I've spent a lot of time thinking about which songs would fit the game best and I finally decided to type it out for feedback.
So here is my personal prediction for the 18 Grateful Dead songs that will be coming out on Rock Band DLC:
----
The following five songs have been announced and shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who owns a radio.
(1) Casey Jones
(2) Sugar Magnolia
(3) Touch of Grey
(4) Uncle John’s Band
(5) Truckin’
These eight songs are all pretty much guarantees as their studio versions are relatively short, they are all well-known and I just can’t see them left off the list.
(6) Scarlet Begonias
(7) Friend of the Devil
(8) Shakedown Street
(9) Fire on the Mountain
(10) Franklin’s Tower (I’d prefer Help>Slipknot>Franklin’s but that’s not happening)
(11) Eyes of the World
(12) Bertha
(13) Box of Rain
So that leaves five songs and here’s my prediction for four of them.
(14) Good Lovin’
(15) Samson and Delilah
(16) Estimated Prophet
(17) Chinacat Sunflower
Well, that leaves one song and as you might have guessed it has to be:
(18) Terrapin Station
They could split off the main section (first 9 minutes of the album version) and make me the happiest music fan in the world. For any Dead fan, you can't deny how epic playing Terrapin would be. "Some rise, some fall, some climb, to get to terrapin" - just the thought of it gives me goosebumps.
These songs just missed the cut:
Crazy Fingers (it would sure be fun on guitar)
U.S. Blues
The Music Never Stopped
Hell in a Bucket
The Golden Road (most likely to make it from this group)
Cumberland Blues
Dire Wolf
I also had to leave off some of my favorite songs for various reasons, but mainly due to the lack of a good studio version. This included Bird Song, Dark Star, Turn on Your Love Light and Not Fade Away > GDTRFB (man, that would be amazing to play!) as well as many others.
Agree? Disagree? What did I miss?

What about Me & My Uncle or Playin' In the Band? I think they'll probably include those songs instead of Terrapin Station and Fire On the Mountain (Damnit I hope they do Fire on the Mountain!).
Otherwise the best post I've seen on this forum!! A fellow jam band person!

Thanks for the prompt reply! I was worried no one would write back, so I'm glad to find a fellow fan.
In terms of Me and My Uncle and Playin' in the Band, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think either song was ever recorded in studio. They're both on the self-titled Grateful Dead live album from 1971, but unless they're covered by Harmonix, I'm not sure how they would work on the game.
But yes, both would be great to play and would surely fit in my category of songs I wish could be in the game. And have faith, Fire on the Mountain seems like a good bet in my mind, as it would be one of the best songs to sing and has a fun little guitar solo.
Oh and Viva la Jam Bands!

First off, Hell yes Grateful Dead! Ok, down to buisiness, I've been thinking about this since the announcement back in september and I have a few ideas. I think that St. Stephen would be an obvious choice. I don't think they'll have Samson and Delilah or Good Lovin because they aren't actually dead songs they're covers (Samson and Delilah is traditional and Good Lovin is by The Young Rascals). While, I would have not problem with these songs, I feel like they would be wasted as Dead songs. I also think that Terrapin Station would be too slow to enjoy for most people so they would leave it out. (it would be epic and I would love it though) In a similar wishful sense I'd love to see Weather Report Suite, but I don't think they would do that one for the same reason. I'd like to see some incarnation of Dark Star or Turn on Your Love Light (even though love light is a cover too it would be so fun on vocals) I think Althea would be perfect for the game as well.

How could they NOT put in New Speedway Boogie?

Playin' in the Band was recorded on Bob Weir's Ace......which featured all the members of the Dead but was written by Bobby and produced under his name.
If you haven't heard it, then you're in for a treat. It features, IMO, some of the Dead's best material including:
Tracks
1. Greatest Story Ever Told
2. Black-Throated Wind
3. Walk in the Sunshine
4. Playing in the Band
5. Looks Like Rain
6. Mexicali Blues
7. One More Saturday Night
8. Cassidy

Im guessing they are going to do entire album then release the rest as singles.
For the album it'll most likely be American Beauty.
But whatever they release ill most likely end up buying all 18 songs lol :p
