GH3 or Rock Band Ps2

I know this is a RB Forum, but I trust that the people here have played GH, and actually enjoy it..and show little bias please.

Anyway, right now I have the option of either getting GH3 for the Wii for Christmas or just buying Rock Band for the Ps2. I have never played GH before, and think it's a really fun game and all, just that RB is better. But recently I learned that they watered down the Ps2 version making it less desirable, but still better than GH3 I'd say.

But then again, why settle for the watered down version with no Online Play, DLC, or BWT extras? I mean, surely they are coming out with Wii Band, because if they didn't they'd really be stupid..since GH3 on the Wii sold more than the Ps2 & Ps3 versions, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere. So I suppose I could wait until Summer 2008 for it and enjoy GH now, or I could just get RB Ps2 for Christmas and just enjoy the heck out it, since the extras really aren't that big of a hit to the overall fun factor, I think.

Honestly, which do you guys think I should do?

I think watered down is a bit harsh. I've played both now, and the core PS2 Rock Band experience is still great.

If you want some reviews, check out the sticky in this forum. You'll get opinions of all ages (most of them extremely good).


It you want to look at value, Rock Band has more to offer, and boast a better group experience. Sure, you can say me, a forum moderator is biased, but if you check the game review sites, they would agree with me. GH3 on the other hand is getting mixed reviews at best.

Beyond that, it's the focus of a class action suit: the box says it has both stereo and Dolby Digital soundtracks when it's only a monaural game.

I agree with you on that, and what's even better is that I won't really need Online Play because I have 3 sisters that love videogames :D [my work here is done xD]

So all in all, I'm figuring you voted for "What are you waiting for? Get Ps2 RB NAO!"

Indeed I did. I don't have a copy yet, but I'm expecting to get one (I have RB for PS3) primarily because it prolongs the life and value of my PS2 and the guitar controllers I have for it.

3 sisters? Rock Band is practically tailor made for your family then.

Among my family no other game has been as well received. Even prompting others to buy their own copies. The group interaction of a full band is beyond compare.

Haha, yea I thought so too. I wouldn't be hesitant on buying it if I had a 360/Ps3, but the things people are saying about this game make me rethink it. I'm constantly changing my mind from game to game like every hour..
Some are saying the missing features detract from the game, some say it doesn't matter :confused:

...Wow. RB Ps2 won by a long shot. I guess it is to be expected, because all in all it's a better game :\
I hope stores have it in stock today, so I can do a quick exchange. Or else I'll have to wait until the weekend. Heck, I'd be lucky if I didn't open up GH3 Wii on day 2 in that situation :'[

Out of the 7 stores I called, 7 don't have them in stock anymore. Only a couple have Ps3 + 360 versions..and some stores even told me there's no such thing as a Ps2 version :confused:
