I don't know how far you are into the game, but as you go you will unlock a TON of characters that add both flesh colored and yellow heads.

Not sure how far I am either, but yeah I know you unlock a ton of characters and when you buy them you get each of their pieces to use...
But majority of them are male characters...
Right now I'm mainly using the Witch head and body =/

It sounds like you are fairly early in the game. There are several more female heads unlocked as you progress. Including those you can get from hiring new staff.

Ones I can think of include "Queen" (castle level), "Whitney" & "Britney" (raceway), "Female Ice Explorer" (abyss), "Marketing Executive" (entourage member).

There's also some heads that are fairly gender neutral and work as either depending on the other parts used. For example: "Schoolboy", "Commuter", "Dr. Books".

It's all in context. If it doesn't have any obvious facial hair or male characteristics you're pretty safe with it as a female head if you use a more obvious female hair style and clothing type.

I had the same problem at first. None of the Lego heads matched my RB2 character faces. But as I kept playing, I found yellow faces and better hair/clothing options, now they look really good, actually better than the white faces.

i just ended up using the yellow heads on most of my characters, my singer uses one of the premade character's heads, the only thing that is hard for me making my lego band is the hairstyles don't look right, but i'm on the DS at the moment

You can certainly swap out arms and hands in the real life thing. Skin painted on the torso not so much.
