Pasted from the older thread, since this really needs its own thread. HMXHenry just stated this earlier this evening:

Hey, just a heads up to the forum faithful that Sony came through and got us a batch of Sgt. Pepper DLC codes for the PS3 rockers, and we'll be giving them away tomorrow. You should follow @RockBand on twitter for a chance to snag one of these codes. See you there!

Would it be greedy to want one just to fix the WYWY vs. Abbey Road album conflict PS3 users have been having? hmmm

Yes it would, plus I don't think it'd feel right/worth it since we already bought the songs. Patience!

Ok you already posted in the thread about that over in the Tech Support forum (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=173506), so you already know that they're working on fixing that. Why would you bother posting this in THIS thread where it completely doesn't belong?

This is excellent news. I said it in the other thread, but good job HMX and Sony.

well as a ps3 user I started following last week under the belief that I would be able to get codes but it turned out all they had were 360 codes, I'm sure a lot more ps3 users did the same thing

Maybe, but last time we gave out codes we had over 2,000 people follow us over the course of 24 hours. Come on Twitter, step it up!

Blasteroids

Do not have a twitter account and already have Sgt. Peppers, so no point in signing up :( If only codes were handed out before release, since albums are generally on my day one buy list. Perhaps we shall see some codes for other PS3 Rock Band DLC in the future?

bmaninc
11-24-2009, 01:35 PM
Two factors:

PS3 crowd likely already signed up when the 360 codes were given out.
Sgt Pepper has been out for at least a week now so the people who really wanted it likely already have it. Thus, they have no incentive to follow.

Just wondering...any Queen PS3 codes?

I don't think its going to happen. PS3 simply doesn't have enough users in the know or already followed/bought the album when it came out. Don't torture them lol

idlephase

Retweeting is where you copy/paste the post and post it under yours with RT @username. You could also just click the Retweet button in the lower right of the post.

Codes can't be handed out before release, because they can't be redeemed until the files are released.

For those that already have the DLC, think for a second. Have you ever thought that they might give out codes for Rubber Soul or All You Need is Love. Not to mention the interesting stuff in other tweets about the game like how one site has Rock Band as the #4 greatest game of this decade. It costs nothing and you don't have to receive texts if you want to follow. Big picture folks!!

Blasteroids

Sure they can. Because something is not on the PS Store does not mean it cannot be downloaded by a code. Just look at all the beta/demo codes for LBP:Water, MAG, BF2, GOW3, etc...

So you have the content confirmed by Sony as available a day or two before the store links to that content.

Or perhaps HMX would prefer nobody buy DLC for a month in the chance of getting a code and then defeat the point of releasing DLC  At the moment people who support HMX by buying DLC are the people who lose out the most for these types of give-aways.

Not really too bothered TBH, just like playing devils advocate. I hope the codes go to people who play online!

I would have to agree with this. Before release, I signed up to receive the tweets in the hopes of PS3 codes. With nothing on the horizon, I picked up the dlc on release.
Thanks anyways to HMX & Sony. I know it was not done intentionally and that their motivations were/are in the right place.

btw, of the 2,000 new followers, it would be interesting to see how many are for each platform. If you look at the sales numbers, even assuming they were all (new followers) for X360, 800 new followers for the PS3 would have been stretching it.

Faster, in fact. The Xbox 360 codes were usually redeemed within 5 seconds of being posted on Twitter.

If it's anything like how the Xbox website works, you can copy/paste a code from a website into the redemption page in under 4-5 seconds.

If the code is posted in that 20 seconds you are refreshing, you're (for lack of a better word) screwed.

I had the code entered and accepted and it showed the Sgt Pepper info but when I hit continue, I got "An unexpected error has occurred".

Is it possible for more than 1 person to enter the code successfully at the same time but someone else was faster to hit continue?

Wow, this makes it my like tenth code.

Ok so here is the contest:

Send me a pm with your username as the subject and in the message box.

I will have my sister pick one randomly of my inbox.

I will send the code to the winner tommorrow.

But like all of my contest before, I will not tell you who the winner was, you must find out on your own.

Good Luck and Have Fun!

Why would it not be allowed? When I snagged a Sgt. Peppers code from Twitter last week, I gave away my Gamestop codes, as did several other people.

Begging for codes, now that's not allowed. But giving them away is. :)

Since always, it happened with gamestop codes and pepsi contests. You only get like 6 entries or so per day before it starts denying every code you put in.

I was rocking earlier with my paid for Sgt. Peppers :p

And you can be locked out of PSN for entering too-many codes or codes-too-fast. This happened recently for Trine, IIRC. I think that DLC codes are also region locked, so I would assume that the DLC codes were for the US and thus any other region would get an error when entering these anyway.

That is life! Anyway.. only found 1 person with DLC on tonight out of 6-7 randoms :(

I'm in Canada, but since the PS3 is region free, unlike the 360, you can simply create an American PSN account for contests like this. That's what I did, and it worked for me. Same with the Stride and Pepsi contests.

Yep, games are region free but the PSN Stores are still region-bounded.
Canada and the US share thesame region (region 1), but US DLC won't work with any other region discs than region 1, so the DLC won't do anything for European copies of the game (region 2), using the code would've been useless because it doesn't work on my copy of the game, that would be a waste of the code because someone else could've used it.

I would've imported the game like I did with other Rock Band games, but TB:RB was finally going to have a world wide release so importing wasn't neccesary.
