Harry Potter is a book series written by novelist JK Rowling. Her latest book, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, was released 2 years ago. What fans are most anxious for is the Movie Adaptation.
But, interestingly enough, the book had to be split into two parts.
See the source for that here : http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0KjqmnwrQxLNoIAEfoPxQt.;_ylu=X3oDMTExZW1jOHI wBHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDMwRjb2xvA3NwMQR2dGlkAwRsA1dTMQ--/SIG=12o2ep38a/EXP=1259208560/**http%3A//www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1583274/20080312/story.jhtml
The first part will be release on November 19th, 2010.
The second part will be released the next year, on July 15th.
See the sources for both here :

Have you read the book?
Are you gonna see the movie?

Read all the books, were strictly OK.
I protest the splitting of the movie, so I'll pay for the first and sneak in for the second. :D

Hahaha, you'll have to wait several months to sneak into the second movie though. :)
I've read all the books, too.
The 7th one, IMO, being the best.

I think it's great that they're splitting it.
Hopefully that means that the movie won't suffer from having stuff cut out like all the other ones did, which happened quite a lot in Order of the Phoenix, which is my favourite of all the books.

I agree.
The Battle of Hogwarts is primarily the reason they split in two.
I don't care, just as long as it's good! :D

Good that they split it in two. Now it can be as true to the book as possible.

For some reason, I read the whole series... looking back on it, I'd say the last one is a big meh (along with the rest of the series). Just seemed like she was trying to kill as many characters as possible.
In terms of movies, I'd file Harry Potter under the same category as Twilight (which I have read, albeit only the first one); movies I just don't get. I did, at one time, like the books, but like I said, it's hard to really think what I liked when I look back a few years...
Strange. I'm the opposite with music. Discovering new artists didn't make me hate the ones I liked when I was a kid. In fact, I still listen to "juvenile artists". I'm just not the same way with anything else, like books and movies.

Agreed, but for a different reason. I thought the "camping scenes" were boring, and the end felt like bad fanfiction.
I've watched all of the Harry Potter movies in theaters since Prisoner of Azkaban (the others I watched on DVD). I even saw the 5th one in theaters twice to see it in IMAX. But I don't think I'll bother with these because I liked that book the least. I'll wait until they're out on BluRay. Maybe they'll put a whole boxset of all of the movies on BluRay at the same time and I can just buy them all. I have the first 4 on DVD and stopped buying because I knew I'd just want to buy 'em on BluRay later anyway.

.
Definitely... the whole "happily ever after" thing seemed to really contrast with the theme of the book, or even the series.

Black text to "hide" the spoiler a little, though it's extremely minor.
Especially because it got progressively darker and darker. With everyone dying off, I really expected Harry to die. Heck, I wanted him to die. I feel like the ending would've been more satisfying then.

Yeah, it really felt like she took the easy way out... near the books end, I was half expecting them to pull out the Dragon balls and wish everyone back to life.

Whaaat? Hardly anyone died considering it was basically a full on war.
Book seven did suffer from major pacing problems though, those campings chapters just dragged on and on the suddenly theyre like flying a dragon out of the bank or whatever.
Still, I love the series and will have to go see the last 2 films in Gold Class to keep up the tradition.

I read it just to know the outcome of the story. I grew out of the Harry Potter series over the years, but there was no way I could read the first six books without reading the last one. Basically, my impression of the last book was that it still left some major questions left to be answered. I think there still has to be one more book, just to clear up the questions and see how Harry lives his life after his schooling years.

Couldn't find the right poll option for me. I am somewhere between the 1st 2. My wife will probably end up dragging me as she has always done. I like the books and find the movies to be entertaining, but I would say that I am overly excited.

I have read the books, found them interesting... mostly because of the skill of the author improving with each book.
I am looking forward to the movies, esp Snape's role.
But, I will wait for the DVD Boxset to come out Christmas 2012, baring any Mayan problems with the world, to watch them all at once.

You didn't put in a poll option for those who read the book but aren't necessarily excited for the movie.

I'm going to remain positive about this movie due to it being split into two parts; one of the reasons the last movie wasn't as good as it could have been was that there was just too much to effectively cover it all, especially since they included all the awkward romances to appeal to the Twilight kids.

Yes, I do.
The OP can do what he wants with his/her thread. :p

Yeah, but I'm sure that this one will take the cake away from the Fantasy/Magical genre.

I'll do it then.
By the power vested in me by the Nevada gaming commission, I officalize this thread.

I hope you didn't go to any Star Wars movies. (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/501st_Legion_%28organization%29)

I voted no.
The movies are horrible. The books are okay, but they can't compare to some real high fantasy.

I am a sucker for the books and movies, heh. I am definitely going to pre-order tickets and watch it with my cousins; the same thing I do every time a new HP movie comes out XD.

I really love the books and have enjoyed the movies even though some of the movies changes get on my nerves. I'll see both of them with my brother-in-law as is our custom, and I hope they can make it as accurate as possible. I'm kinda worried about the whole Tear Jerker thing though, I hope that it makes it through.

I dont like the splitting in two... I mean maybe if they somehow dragged out the last three chapters... But...

The Tear-Jerker thing is probably the most anticapated element in the book.
It'd be interesting if they do kinda bring that element to light in the movie.
