What exactly is the title even supposed to mean?

Exactly what it says. Songs The Beatles wrote for others. Pretty cool.

There was a 1964 (I think?) TV special called "The music of Lennon & McCartney" (or something like that) and it showed other artists playing songs John and/or Paul had written for them. Pretty neat.

In a local library there was an old album (vinyl) called "the songs Lennon and McCartney gave away". I always wanted a copy. :)

Thanks for the link

I've always adored Bad to Me. That's such a great song.

I'm listening to some of the songs they're mentioning, and going "Wait -- THEY wrote that?!"

My favorite Beatles song not recorded by the Beatles is Badfinger's "Come and Get it."

I own The Beatles performing this song on Anthology 3!

RE: Come and get it

I own The Beatles performing this song on Anthology 3!

True, but I believe that's a demo recording Paul McCartney did by himself.

Ah, my mistake. It's a bloody good song though!

I like "Goodbye". I've got a demo of Paul singing and playing, only guitar, and it's beautiful.

The Beatles gave away many of their best songs.
For example: 'It's for you' (Cilla Black) and 'A World without Love' (Peter and Gordon) are better than most (all?) other Lennon/McCartney songs from that time
