Ok, so I live on the second floor in an apartment complex and until the purchase of Rock Band, have had no problem with the couple living downstairs. However, once trying a Solo Tour on the Drums, they have begun banging on the ceiling (my floor).
The question is, does anybody know a way to dampen the sound? Is there some form of drum mat I can buy or a trick anybody knows? I think I have Maps on EXPERT down but I'm afraid they're gonna come upstairs and stab me if I attempt it...
Thanks,

A carpet mat for underneath the set as well as dampening pads for the drum heads.

that and strike up a conversation with your downstairs neighbor, ask them what times you wouldnt disturb them or if they could give you a call if it gets too noisy for em.
when I lived in an apartment just a simple conversation solved all my noise problems and I didnt have to get rid of my surround sound :-D

Word. Your best new peripheral is available, for cheap, at Bed Bath and Beyond.
And luckily, it's cross-platform, so it'll work in ANY bathroom.

since you're on the second floor its more than likely your kick pedal causing the complaints. Try a thick rubber pad under the kit to dampen the thuds (like the rubber pads cashiers stand on). If its the heads, try sound dampening products.

Awesome. I think it's most definetly the bass pedal that's the problem. I will attempt to nullify the issue with a couch cushion and some towels. If that doesn't work, my roommate and I kicked around the idea of just getting the neighbors downstairs evicted...

We use our futon cushion. It's nice and dense, so it absorbs all of the vibrations. Our neighbors haven't pounded on the ceiling since. *laugh*

LOL evicting them would be better and then smooth talk the landlord into letting you swap your room for theirs and yeah wait for them to go out for dinner or something and then try Maps since its a pretty bass-heavy song.
