View Full Version : Anyone outside of the US here?

Why does this board only allow United States to be set as country?

Is there anyone else foreign to USA here?

Well, my nickname's a dead giveaway, but what about the other members from outside the US?

Well, I am originally from Peru, but I live in Jersey. I don't think that one counts though, did you see Rush in Rio? Because if you did I officially hate you.

I'm from Canada, I just left the state as default. I imagine it will be fixed eventually and I'll fix my profile then.

Because the US is the best country.

Little portugal, aka New Bedford MA,

Hey, I have relatives living there! (being this why I set the state as MA :P )

And DIEGOROBOT26, no I haven't seen Rush in Rio. Just heard some flickers of the album, but I didn't really like it anyway (I'd rather their 70's and early 80's classics).

Japan. Yeah, I'm not gonna be able to play Rock Band :(

Aren't USA and Japan in the same region on PS3 games (I think they're both region 1)? And don't they both run NTSC?

Pretty sure that there's a different setting in there somewhere...

I can see a modded PS3 for that dude, with him finding some way of getting a mate to somehow download the tracks and send 'em through on disc for him to load up onto his machine.

Might take a while... but dammit it's Rock Band, and any true fan will do anything to get their hands on it!

I'm pretty sure they're only releasing it in the US, Canada, Australia, and the UK, but my memory could be bad.

I was wrong: USA and Japan share the same Blu-Ray movie region. There is apparently no region lock on the games themselves according to Sony's website.

So he's good to import apparently.

lol, I can assure you that the game will come out across entire Europe, not only UK. (I'm sure it will come out here in Austria too, like erm... every other game. :D )

JB4GDI
07-22-2007, 12:00 PM
Well, I'm not sure if they'd need to translate things like the menus, I don't know how stuff works over there. There's a lot of not-English spoken in the EU :D.

-Jaime

lorddavid
07-22-2007, 12:24 PM
Yeah... but if they can't read the menu's... they're gonna be screwed for the singing aspect ain't they?

LavatoryLoveMachine
07-22-2007, 01:19 PM
If a greek and a german wanna talk, I would think they would talk in english.

My point being european gamers wont have any trouble reading menus. English is a second language pretty much everywhere. You have to. Otherwise, you wouldnt be able to order a Big Mac in any corner of the world :)

Yep, the PS3 is region free, so I could import. But I would absolutely get raped on the shipping costs. Does anyone know if it'll restrict my downloadable content too?

From what I hear, you can create a master account for a different country but if you want to get US DLC, you'll need a US credit card or US Playstation Points card to buy anything. That later part will be the only snag, but if you can have someone you know in the US buy you a points card and send it to you, you should be fine (it'll just take a while to get to you).

That I do have (well, Canadian credit card). But I also need a PS3 for this :p

Well, in terms of language, sure, we get the game with german menues and all, but everyone learns english in school, I, for instance, have my Xbox set up in english language, because I like that language better then my own. (most games have better english voice actors than german va) :p

Anyway, in Rockband there is no dialog, they only have to translate the menues, this will be done fast. (They don't even have to do that if you ask me)
And besides, there are games out there with a lot of dialog that got translated and recorded in different languages and the game still came out shortly after the US release.

SheSaidSheSaid

I tend to agree. I think I know how this keeps happening. If you click on 'Last Post By' on the forum screen, it'll flip-flop the sorting and bring the oldest threads to the top rather than the newest ones. I have to believe this is why we keep getting so many charming flashbacks to 2007 and 2008.
