Anyone here like them, let alone heard of them? I just discovered them a couple of weeks ago and they're already one of my favorites. They have an awesome drummer and the guitarist/vocalist and composer, Steven Wilson, really knows how to write music. They're progessive rock so some of their stuff can get a little too progressive, if you know what I mean, but they have some really great songs.
Some Songs To Check Out
-Fear Of A Blank Planet
-Wedding Nails
-Blackest Eyes
-Radioactive Toy
-Anesthetize
-Open Car
-Hatesong

One of my all time favourite bands. Saw the play in august.
"Trains" is the best song ever made.
"Arriving somewhere but not here" is just immensely epic.
Drown with me, Blackest eye, Heartattack in a layby, Mellotron Scratch are som other awesome tracks.
I don't really like their latest album, got tired of it really fast. In Absentia is my favourite.
You should check out Blackfield, it's one of Steve Wilson's other project.

I love PT too. Great band.
I discovered them by being an Opeth fan. The singer/guitarist for Opeth is a huge PT fan and friend of Steve. Steve produced at least one of Opth's albums too.

Voyage No. 34 set the tone for everything they've done since.
Stellar band that flies under the ClearChannel radar. They can't stop the good music!
Fight the power. Deny the corporate whores their market share.

I saw Porcupine Tree at the Aladdin here in Portland in 2007, and they were amazing...Wilson also produced the 2003 release of an album by OPETH called, "Damnation"...which hands down is the single most amazing prog creation I have ever had the pleasure to hear...it is a must buy.

Great Band, I recommend some of their older stuff as well, like The Sky Moves Sideways.

Porcupine Tree is awesome, Wedding Nails is absolutely brilliant. However, there are so many good PT songs: Blackest Eyes, Trains, Signify, Hatesong, Deadwing, etc.

Porcupine Tree would be great. So would Opeth for that matter.

Not one of my favorite bands, but I like them. The Sky Moves Sideways was particularly good.

While I admit these modern prog rock/metal bands are two of the best out there today, I would rather see them add the classics first. Yes, Genesis, Jethro Tull, ELP, King Crimson, and Pink Floyd were the true definers of prog rock/metal and, in my opinion, those late 60's early 70's albums are still the best of the genre.
