Meet the world's top World of Warcraft player... (http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/plugged-in/meet-the-world-s-top-world-of-warcraft-player/1377953)

That's an unofficial title, though I think it's pretty safe to say that "Little Gray" has played more Warcraft than you. A lot more.

Courtesy of Gamepro comes word of the Taiwanese player's absolutely insane Warcraft accomplishments. In addition to having nabbed every single one of the game's achievements (minus a brand new one that cropped up in the game's latest patch), he's the first player to complete all 986 tasks listed in the game's Armory. Considering that over 11.5 million people play the game worldwide, that's one heck of an honor.

And that's just the tip of this online gaming iceberg. Playing as a Tauren Druid, Little Gray has racked up some staggering numbers: he's completed nearly 6,000 quests at the rate of about 14.5 per day and killed nearly 500,000 enemies while dying only 8,543 times himself.

How? By doling out an awe-inspiring 7,255,538,878 points of damage...but before you label him some sort of mindless brute, know that he at least had the heart to heal 1,377,435,762 points of that back. Unsurprisingly, he's also a bit of a loner, having "waved" at other players only once.

If it's tough to put these massive numbers into a real-world context, consider this: a member of our Yahoo! Games team (who will remain unnamed) once logged an average of six hours a day playing the game over the course of a year -- and never came close to achieving so much with his character.

We could hazard a few guesses, though. At 14.5 quests per day, it would take about 414 days to reach Little Gray's 6,000 quest mark. Speaking conservatively, a veteran Warcarft player can pretty handily knock out three quests in an hour, which would mean about five hours a day for Little Gray.

But that's just for quests. You do a LOT more than that in Warcraft, such as going on raids, engaging in player vs. player combat, and tinkering with your abilities and gear. It wouldn't be even remotely surprising to find out that Little Gray has spent in upwards of ten hours a day playing the game...

So what? Dude wants to play WoW and we have plenty of Doctors and Sports Phenoms. Let him do what he wants, it's not like he's killing people, who the hell are we to judge?

Considering his list of accomplishments it's actually pretty interesting. And he's definitely getting more out of his $15 per month than most people.

Taiwanese Player, MMOC has been following him for the longest time.

I bet 100$ on it he account shares and multiple people play almost constantly. Secondly, you guys don't understand the level of dedication it takes get all those achievements do you? Can't just grind **** your way through it.

But to proclaim him the best player in the world? It's just stupid.

He has a lot of free time, yes... big deal.

He got his Glad title in Season 6 when Druid were (And still are) the most overpowered class in Arena. He did as Resto as you see, he also got Glad on a lacklust battlegroup... so easy competition to get to top 5% on the BG.

Secondly no Tribute to Immortality? He isn't Ensidia, he isn't in Ensidia. He doesn't have every achievement. Until I see Tribute to Immortality, I won't consider him "that great"

He's just a GOOD WoW player that account shares or has too much time on his hands.... move along

lolnoscarablord.

BC player, nothing to see here. Sad the "greatest" player doesn't have Scarab Lord.

I'll say this also, 8500 deaths with 500000 kills means nothing, I can farm boars in Valley of Trials for years on a lvl 1 Huntard and have some 1 mill kills and no deaths lol

Same "skill" achievements, but plays a class with a higher learning curve and considerably higher almost unreachable skill cap.

His 3s team is higher rated on a more competitive Battlegroup, and plays a very weird and iffy 3s makeup
Resto Shaman/MM Hunter/Ret Pally (seriously? can't use ******?)

His 2s comp is even more "skillful" seeing as REsto Shaman/MM Hunter is one of the more difficult comps to play.

Tl:dr version, he's not the best just account shares or optimizes downtime (Which is really most of your time in WoW)

My main has 8k score, and I barely ever do anything besides /afk or run laps in Dal talking on vent

Not insulting the player, he's still pretty good but all the achievements means nothing.Mainly berating the writer of the article who really doesn't know anything about WoW

Damn, haven't seen a good Feral PvP Druid since I played w/ my friend on Stormscale..

Dude, even though I will admit that Bood's comment was a bit unnecessary, adding stuff like 'GTFO' is what has gotten you banned several times now. Learn from your mistakes and show some restraint while posting, or don't post at all. Your point would've been made just fine without swearing thinly veiled as an acronym.

If you see other people do it, report the post and we'll take action.

In the meantime, stop pointing fingers and take some responsibility for your own actions. You know what the consequences are if you don't. This warning was a courtesy, something I won't bother with again if 'lol, cute' is the first response I get.

As someone who's played WoW quite a bit (not recently) that's quite ridiculous. I thought I had some friends who were addicted but that's hardcore. If that's what he likes to do with his time, then that's fine. I enjoy being able to play multiple games instead of just playing one though I will say that RB2 has sucked up quite a bit of my time.

However, to lavish praise that he is the best player because of all the time he has sunk in, I think is premature. Those huge numbers are largely a byproduct of the time spent. To compare, bands with a billion fans in Rock Band are mutually exclusive to the most skilled and highest scoring bands in Rock Band. You CAN have a billion fans and be awesome, but for the most part it just shows the amount of time you put in.

His Kill/Death ratio is impressive, but how many of those kills are on low levels? Are those XP earning kills? Naturally, all the achievements is quite impressive too.

The Statistics page keeps track of Mob kills and player kills. So to compare that in PvE or PvP skill is really moot.

The achievement in itself is impressive, but calling him the best player is kind of pointless? As I stated earlier in the thread that his guild earned 0 world firsts in PvE Progression and his PvP Rating for Arena is pretty low for the way the brackets work now.

DarkEternal37
12-02-2009, 03:39 PM
That's pretty much what I'm saying yeah. It's hard to come up with a barometer for a game that doesn't have many statistical thresholds. In Rock Band you know greatness when you hear that gold star ding. When you're the number 1 on a (non-glitched) leaderboard. When you see that giant 100% at the end of a song.

In WoW, it's all about personal accomplishment. The only physical barometer they have is if you're first to do something in PvE or if you're the best in the arena. That's really it. If you're neither of those things, then it's all subjective.

Basically, but you can use Ratings and Progression as a bar to compare your skill. Sites like WoWmetersonline you can upload boss parses and compare them to people that play your class/spec.

Then from there you can see how you compare to better players, see what they do better (Since it tracks ability uses, and gives armory links) and work on your damage

Even arena is a messed up way to gauge someone, seeing as every season there is an overpowered class/comp w/e. As I said, I was watching him last season and he was playing a Resto Druid for PvP, which isn't that hard.

But the second you see a Hunter or a Ret Pally w/ S6 or S7 glad titles or ratings, you know they're good. So it's really subjective down to the class and comp in PvP

I luv BioWare as a developer (except for when it comes to Mass Effect dlc). i hav the both KotoR's and Mass Effect, hopefully Dragon Age soon. BUT Im very doubtful about KotoR online. simply because mmo's with guns never really turn out......fantastic. and to say that a game thats not even out yet is better than WoW is a very bold statement.

And im afraid Im going to have to side with Zeleii and say that I would definitely not call him "the best". i will also say that he probably does share an account as getting all of those achievements wouldve taken an immense amount of time and, while it is possible, highly improbable that he got all of those on his own. and if he did then I hope he continues to have (what is probably) a good day and i giv him the congrats

I don't understand the basis for this. It's played the world over by a large quantity of people. A lot of people love Halo, which I think is trash. It's still a video game that you can enjoy and be skilled at. It's just not for me.

Still, well done on all the time spent to do that, now load up EVE and dominate a system, financially AND militaristically. ;)

Well, for every person you hear say they got bored of the game, there's a million who aren't saying anything because they're hopelessly addicted to it.
