Here is my attempt (pics and video) at creating the double bass experience for Rock Band drummers. I figured this attempt would fail since the sensor in the included plastic bass pedal is magnet based. Basically, I used my Tama Iron Cobra double bass pedal and my bass drum pad off of my electronic drum set to emulate double bass in Rock Band. Second, I dismantled my Rock Band pedal and took the sensor and magnet out of it. I went to Radioshack, bought a project box, and got my hands another little magnet. I drilled a hole in the project box, stuck the sensor in it, and instead of attaching the magnet and project box to the bottom of my pedal, I simply put the magnets on my bass drum beaters and installed the project box underneath the electronic bass pad. All this is easier to understand with the pics and video. Check em out!

Thanks to my band: oz, john, and bob, for helping me put this together.
Here is why this set up does not work. Since the sensor in the Rock Band pedal is magnet based, you cannot rest one drum beater against the electronic bass pad because it constantly senses the magnet on that bass drum beater. If you want this to work you would have to keep your feet off the pedals and make sure you don’t rest your foot on the pedal. That sucks. However, if anyone can improve on this idea, please offer some suggestions. I will say this: playing with an actual bass drum pedal is way easier and more fun. I can now hit those really close bass drum notes in Tom Sawyer with ease. My combos are improving. It is indeed a Merry Christmas.

Nope, I'm a real drummer and those are my pedals for my DTX electronic set.

ohh ok, I was going to flip lmao. I want those so bad or those DW 9000. I have a cheap pair of double bass pedals now but I use them like they was high quality. I bet im a beast on real pedals.
If your a real drummer though your leg shouldnt really be getting tired from playing the single pedal lmao, not hatin, just sayin. :D

It would work if the you got a circut that closes right after it opens. Good luck though.

ClinTrojan: I should clarify what I meant by getting tired using one pedal. What I mean is, with the crappy mechanics of the plastic pedal that comes with Rock Band, it requires more effort to hit those really close notes than it does with an actual bass drum pedal. My leg doesn't get tired, but I do a feel difference when I attempt closely placed notes on both pedals.

I wish I could set up a real pedal for Rock Band...that plastic one is garbage. I've broken 2 already...

Agreed, use momentary switches.

I'll try out the momentary switch idea. And that poster is of carmen electra. She loves drummers.
