Freya was awesome. Iron Swan is better though.
The Only Medicine is a good choice from Scary Kids Scaring Kids.
Also, wrong section but you already knew that.

Better Thrice songs! The ones you picked are probably the worst that could be for the game. Let's get some ones with actual guitar work (well "Idols" has some) but like To Awake and Avenge the Dead or The Artist in the Ambulance have cool riffs in them.

And while I applaud more DLC options, I would counter that there's a lot more available from this decade than electroclash, and pop punk (which at this point given how trendy it is, I'm grouping modern scre/emo in), which makes up a good portion of the song choices for this decade. I mean, by that same token (the fall out boy being lonely token), Coheed and Cambria comprise the only non-bonus modern metal song.
I kinda wonder how much the east coast market effected their modern song choice. Most of those songs got limited airplay around here, if at all.
I'm quite thankful that the "bonus" songs kinda spice up the mix. I was especially happy to see Vagiant and Freezepop.
I checked out this Christmas DLC pack and thought "meh". It looked more to me like MTV trying to use Rockband to push their pop music du jour to the masses.
I mean, let's take 30 Seconds to Mars "The Kill" and put it up against "Stinkfist" or "Aenima" by Tool as available DLCs. I'll bet you a drink that the Tool song would outsell/download the 30secs2mars song by two to one. In fact, I suspect it would be considerably higher, even at 1.99 instead of .99. I bet you would even find people who would buy the game for the Tool song. The same could be said about rock songs for the past 50 years. It's unfortunate there are no masters back from the 50's and 60's. Could you imagine an Elvis song or the Beetles? 10 years from now, if someone makes a port of Rockband, I'm thinking our christmas DLC pack isn't going to be what they're looking to dredge up.
I wish they would mix up the DLC downloads so instead of getting a spurt of one style of music, you would see maybe one a week that you liked.

they like being alone.. it gives them something else to cry about. i hope they stay that way forever and ever and ever. so they continue to be depressed about nothing and continuously produce whiney music for middle to upper class suburban girls with ""problems"".

Thursday would be pretty sweet.
I almost forgot those guys existed.:)
Definitely "Cross Out the Eyes" that song would be great...when I'm drunk and actually want to sing.

Yeah, I bet they cry all the way to the bank.
Cause it's much cooler to sing about how nobody is going to take your car or your girl because you are a highway star? Deep Purple are gods of rock, but honestly.. you can pick apart any bands music.
Black Hole Sun is about how much life sucks and how it's never going to get any better. Sound a little emo?
I don't listen to pop punk, but I ain't gonna knock nobody's hustle. I don't buy tampons either, but I don't go on rants about how stupid they are.
We live in a "see a need; fill a need" society. Contrary to your personal opinion MILLIONS of people like Fall Out Boy. I may not be one of them, but I think God said it best "judge not lest ye be judged"
Music, for most mature people, is about what resonates personally with you. I personally think Nirvana just made catchy post-rock songs that sounded clever enough to pass for something other than pop. MILLIONS of Nirvana fans would want to punch me in the face for such blasphemy, and they'd all beat down my door to explain how deep and emotional and "pure" Kurt's lyrics were.
On the other hand, when people hear the music that I prefer.. they usually say "that's just a bunch of noise." Your average "Classic Rock" lover just doesn't understand why I'd rather listen to a song with a deep meaning like "Roots" from Sepultura than to hear the drivel that is Hotel California by the Eagles. These are just my opinions, but obscure vague references to drugs and god only knows what just don't do anything for me. The emotion and anger of Max Cavalera as he screams out about wordly topics that he feels he should make his music about.. that reaches me.
I don't have people who like the eagles, I don't discount the fact that bands like The Eagles are extremely talented.
I just don't listen to them.
It would be FUN AS HELL to play a bunch of eagles songs in Rock Band though. ;)

I didn't read all the replies, but I agree with this. I'd group All American Rejects with Fall Out Boy than most of the bands listed in the first post.
Personally I'm not a big fan of poppy rock, but I much rather play something fun and catchy than most classical boring rock. To each their own I guess?

The Thrice songs need help, but not the help the other guy suggested. Thrice would be bad ass with songs from The Illusion of Safety, such as "Deadbolt." Oh man...that would be bad ass.
I do agree with a lot of people in saying that we need a variety of music tho. Modern rock has gotten a good shove here lately, and while I would love to see more of it, it's only fair that the old-at-heart here get their share of songs.
Then again...where's the friggin metal? I know this isn't Guitar Hero, it's Rock Band...blah blah blah. SOME metal would be nice.
And dammit I hate that you brought up Thursday because now I'm gonna be thinking about that at all times. We need some Thursday in this game.
And some Paramore. I know...flame me...but I want some stuff for girls for my friends that play with me. I don't see many other girl bands working out.
You know what? "Spiderwebs" by No Doubt would be a bad ass song for girls on here.
Okay now I'm just rambling. I'll stop.

it's good to see a mixed bag of replies to my thread instead of the usual GTFO i've seen.
some more bands to add thanks to your replies (broad scope):
The Academy Is
New Found Glory
Hoobastank
Cake
Gym Class Heroes (for good measure)
Copeland
Forgive Durden
The White Stripes
The Starting Line (Did I mention them?)
Yellowcard
Anberlin
Circa Survive
Emery
Days Away
Trapt
Bayside
Chevelle
The Weakerthans
The Planet Smashers
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
Bloc Party
Blink-182
Mae
The Urge
that's all I got for now.
also, to the response above mine, when you actually step back and look at the current trend of music and look back at Nirvana/grunge days, they're nearly on the same page.
"Life sucks so I wrote a song about it." That's what all these bands do. The only difference between now and then is that now boys wear tight pants and long hair swiped to one side to cover half their face and girls look like their trapped in the 80's. History just has a way of repeating itself. I'm sure you all remember when bellbottoms, or flares as they were called in some stores made a huge comeback in the early 00's. LOL
i'm 20, so i don't have much experience with classic rock, if any at all, but i do agree with you that more classic rock should be made available. there was a nice chunk available, but some sort of middle ground needs to be created. iuno, i'm sure i'll end up spending all my money on it anyways.

Yes, well, you're an idiot.
There are a number of people who have grouped anything that remotely sounds like 'emo' as 'emo' even though most of the time its post hardcore. I'll completely agree that for the most part, the new commercial monster that is 'emo' (I've watched it grow out of control here in Vegas) has grown out of control and it is an obnoxious, rehashed version of itself over and over.
However, at the same time you have become ignorant to the fact that most music that is truly considered emo is really closer to progressive rock and the alternative rock from the late 80's and early 90's that everyone holds so dear. When you listen to bands like Texas is the Reason, Braid, Indian Summer, you wouldn't even know that it was what was truly considered Emo, you'd think you were listening to some side project of the guys from Dinosaur Jr. or the Pixies.
Then again, the end of fact is, no matter what you think about emo, at least its not nearly as socially pathetic as Metal. Please refer to the Something Awful article on Metal.

Also, if you think that writing a song about the opposite sex and possible a relationship as well eliminates your music's credibility, you have hands down exiled probably 80% of the songs ever written.

You know, I'd go so far as to say I think the following three albums would be fun to play:
Armor For Sleep's "Things To Do When You Are Dead"
Brand New's "The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me"
Jimmy Eat World's "Futures"
Saw you had a few tracks from each listed in the original post, figured I'd up the ante a bit.
